As residents of Estrella, we have eaten here a few times, and we have generally been satisfied with the food quality. It's not stellar, but usually above par for similar small restaurants. The prices are a tad high, considering the portion sizes, which are on the skimpy side. Example: $16.95 for 3 pieces of bruschetta. $25+ for most dinner entrees. The ambiance is okay, quiet but cramped. The patio is nice, with the view of the lake. They do have umbrellas, not sure about water misters. Service has been satisfactory, we were impressed with that on our very first visit. All that said, we are doubting whether we will be returning. Last week we came in at 5:45 on a Friday, the first question to us was "Do you have a reservation?" No, we didn't. We peered in and saw at least two empty tables, which I can only surmise they were "holding" for said reservations. They offered us the high-top table in the entryway where they fold their napkins, basically it's open to the lobby. Um, no. I don't really want to watch the guy on the stair-step exercise machine while I eat my $80-100 meal. We asked how long the wait would be, they said "about 20 minutes". So we sat down in the lobby and waited. After 35 minutes of waiting (after watching people leave and no one being seated for "reservations"), we left. Not worth it, considering the high prices. We took our business down the hill and enjoyed a nice dinner elsewhere. read more

A solid little lunch or dinner spot. I'm new in these parts and this was a great find. Their ingredients are fresh and their prices are good, while their service is solid, and the views are beautiful. This would be a great outdoor dining spot for brunch or an evening dinner as the famous Arizona sunsets light up the sky. I'd recommend the salsa and the burgers. The sandwiches are good too. Nothing here is going to change your life or knock you out, but the food is really good and the location on the lake is just right. It's like a little outdoor hotel cafe or something you'd find on a boardwalk somewhere. Definitely give this a try. read more

Our party of 8 arrived just before 1pm for lunch. Jackie greeted us with a smile and got a table ready, along with help from the young gentleman busser. Our table ordered burgers, sandwiches and lots of drinks. Everything was delicious, hot and exactly as ordered. I split their club with my hubby and she had no issue with my request of no cheese on my side. The hubby also wanted a different bread. The house ranch is the BEST I've had in a restaurant and you can tell it was homemade. Their menu is extensive and they offer brunch options on the weekend. Lakeside is an amazing restaurant. Their twisted Cesar salad has pasta twists, and is one of the most delicious salads I have ever had. The lakeside burger and the fig burger are out of this world. Anything I have had here is always incredibly good. So happy they are now open more days. Despite the miscommunication when I called yesterday, asking if Reservations were required for a 4:00 dinner, I'm really glad that I went there today for my 59th birthday dinner. When I arrived at the address, at first, I was I unable to find the place because there is no sign. And, even though other reviews have said, it's located in the old library, this doesn't help out of town visitors. And, when I saw the sign for the Starpointe Residents Club, Residents and Guests Only, I thought for sure that I was in the wrong place. But, after asking 2 different people (1 lady outside, and 1 lady at the concierge desk), I finally found the place. So, yes. The Lakeside Grill, Estrella, is located inside. When, I got there, the Hostess, and my Wairess, Jackie, was very helpful, as all they had out were the Brunch, an Lunch menus. Because I had gotten there a few minutes before 4:00, and already had my dinner planned, the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, and, the Baked Potatoes, were not quite ready. Also, it was too early in the season for Summer Squash. To be honest, I was tempted to leave, but luckily, the Fillet Mignon was available. 8-) So, I carried on. I ordered the Petite Fillet Mignon, Medium Rare, with Garlic Herb Butter, Parmesan & Herb Risotto and a glass of Cabernet (unlike most restaurants, this place does not have a house wine. But, all the wines on the list are available by the Glass 8-) ). Service was excellent. Jackie was friendly, yet courteous and professional. I think she felt bad about the miscommunication. Despite the fact that the Fillet was overcooked (ordered Medium-Rare, got it Medium), it was still melt in your mouth tender. So, unlike some people I know, that doesn't effect my rating for them. As a matter of fact, it stayed warm throughout the meal, whereas medium-rare cools off a bit too soon. And, to the best of my recollection, this Fillet Mignon, was the best that I've had in years. If not, ever! And, despite road construction on Litchfield Rd (3 lanes to 1, before the freeway) and Estrella Parkway, and the traffic, this place is well worth the battle to get there. We are new Estrella residents and the first time we visited the Lakeside Grill just a couple of months ago, I enjoyed it enough to want to try it again. I had the patty melt but asked for it on grilled sourdough bread like their Bistro burger. It was delicious. Fries were cold and nothing special. The prickly pear margarita was great. My hubby didn't care for it, but I convinced him to try it again since we live around the corner. The patio had about 5 open tables (out of the 10 or so out there) when we arrived and almost every table inside was empty. I ordered the Lakeside burger medium-well on grilled sourdough. He ordered the patty melt medium-well on grilled sourdough. Our food took about 25-30 minutes and my burger was medium-rare while my hubby's was rare. The burgers were on plain sourdough bread, not grilled. Service was okay. The servers standing at the table while trying to find items on the handheld devices to enter the order is awkward and does nothing for the experience. It would take the same amount of time for them to write the order down and enter it at a computer away from the table. The patio view is nice and the iced tea is good. The prices aren't worth the service and hit or miss food so unfortunately we won't be back. read more

The outside patio offers a beautiful view of the lake. The food was ok. I had the BLT and it was not that good. The bread was nicely toasted, but it was cold. There was plenty of bacon but the bacon was cold and had no taste. It tasted like uncured bacon and lacked any smokey, salty bacon flavor. The fries were hot and fresh but had the funny crispy coating like the fries were dipped in something before getting fried. I wasn't a fan. They're also quite stingy with the serving size but this time I didn't mind because I was not a fan of them. My dining partner had a burger that was cooked perfectly, and was made with fresh ingredients. He was happy with his burger but also didn't care for the fries. Our drinks were OK but nothing special. Had the fish and chips for 19.95. 3 pieces. Heavy batter on all. One piece was all batter, literally barely any fish there, taste was good tartar sauce great. Still hungry at the end because 3rd pc wasn't a piece at all. Fries are the common, not special frozen out of a bag variety. 2 others with me had prime rib dip sandwiches. 19.95 each sandwich. Mediocre at best was both of their ratings. 3.75 for each iced tea's. (3 count). Very pricey for only mediocre. Won't go here again, needs to be better for this price in my book. read more

Last time I will go there. Each time food and service are only ok. Last night took guests to dinner there. We sat outside as it was a comfortable temp out there. Took 45 minutes after our order was finally taken to receive our meals. Two guests were happy with their fish and chips. My dinner was ok, but mash potatoes and cauliflower were cold. They warmed them up, but still. Other Persons steak was overcooked and here vegetables were also cold. By the time was got our food it was getting pretty chilly and asked them to light the patio heaters. We were informed that they had no propane for any of them. It's February, come on. Lovely setting and lakeside view, great friendly customer service by Stephanie and our meals were delicious! We sat on the patio, the sun was bright and the air crisp. I read an earlier review so I tried the chorizo n egg breakfast, I was not disappointed. Even though the eggs weren't necessarily fluffy, the delicious chorizo made up for it. It wasn't greasy, but it was very flavorful. The avocado toast with egg was a hit, as was their Belgium waffle. I so wanted to try their protein pancake, but they were out. Came here with my hubby and his family. My hubby was so excited to order country fried steak and eggs, unfortunately they were out and he opted for a burrito which he said was okay. Oh how we loved every bite! Came here for breakfast and had the place to ourselves on a cozy December day. It was too chilly to eat on the patio so we chose to sit by the fireplace. This place has a very homey feel to it. So I ordered the chorizo and eggs and my partner ordered the oatmeal protein pancakes. We enjoyed everything and literally licked the platter clean. Both dishes were cooked to perfection. Everything is quality ingredients and you can surely taste it. But let's talk about those potatoes tho....they came with the chorizo and eggs and omg, they were orgasmic! So crunchy on the outside yet so soft on the inside. And don't get me started on those oatmeal protein pancakes!! Seriously they were amazing. They were the perfect consistency of what a healthy pancake should taste like. I don't even wanna call it a healthy pancake because that doesn't even sound good, but not only did they taste good, they made you feel good afterwards. They were moist, hearty, and overall delicious. I liked dipping mine in the yogurt it was served with. But we definitely want to come back for dinner or lunch and most definitely when it's warmer because that patio looks so inviting. read more
