Hi There, As of recently, this location in Santa Rosa is now owned by Dr. Harsh Dogra. Got a referral from our family friend to take our 13 yr small dog to his office for dental cleaning. We are in Novato. Got timely texts and phone calls from the front desk for appointment reminders. The office is very neat and well kept with spacious exam rooms. The whole staff and front desk are very welcoming and friendly. Found Dr. Dogra to be very caring, compassionate and loving to our dog. Our small dog has a grade 2-3 heart murmur. He explained in details about the overall health of our dog, dental cleaning process with that kind of heart condition and some tests that were needed to perform. We had never encountered a vet so far in 13 yrs to go in such details with so much passion and honest assessments. We also found the cost/prices of dental cleaning and other tests etc to be quite reasonable and much lower compare to some other quotes from Vet offices in Novato and surrounding areas. We are very glad to have found Dr. Dogra's Lakeside Pet Hospital. We are highly satisfied with all the services performed with attention to detail and follow-up calls from Dr. Dogra/staff to make sure our pet is doing good. All of the staff were very caring especially Emily. They listened to my concerns and took good care of my cat Dolly. The veterinarian Doctor Dogra explained each necessary treatment and did not try to talk me into unnecessary things. I get very stressed out when I have to take any of my cats to the vet . I came to Lakeside Pet Hospital for a dental cleaning for my dog after seeing a promotion for it. I'm so glad I did. Dr. Dogra and his staff are exceptional. Since me and my dog Rose were new patients, Dr. Dogra really spent a good amount of time with us in the initial consultation. That made me feel comfortable, knowing neither me or my dog was being rushed in and out. When I came to pick Rose up we looked at her before and after teeth on a big monitor and it was amazing to see the job they did. The next day Dr. Dogra called to check to see how my dog was (perfect). I have now chosen Lakeside and Dr. Dogra as my regular vet, despite the fact I live about 30 minutes away. Totally worth it for the beautiful drive and a relationship I have supreme confidence in. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I am a first time customer, I just recently moved here from the valley to finish out my schooling at Sonoma State. I have two beautiful dogs and decided to bring them here since it had good reviews for the most part. I made an appointment sometime in November, was called and told to reschedule so I made another appointment without a problem. However, when I showed up today they could not find my appointment. They took me anyways which I thought was very kind. I needed to get my puppy his last round of shots and my older dog his yearly shots. I brought all of their paperwork with me and everything was off to a great start. The young receptionist was so sweet and kind. It all went south when I was taken into the back. The vet is extremely condescending. Almost everything I said she had a comment for. I would attempt to make small talk and answer her questions about my personal life but she continually made me feel as if she was judging me. At one point she asked me where about I moved to up here, I answered, and she let me know that when she was my age she was not lucky enough to live in a nice place like that. It very much had a condescending tone, if I couldn't have a nice place you shouldn't either. When discussing my schooling she asked how I have time for two dogs, I answered with "all though it can be difficult taking 20+ units, I make sure to extensively schedule my dogs active time". She replied with I took 20 units when I was in college and worked full time and I wouldn't have had the time. It seemed very much tit for tat like she always had to make a rude comment. Besides the condescending personal conversation, she also made me feel as though my medical choices for my dogs were incorrect. I wanted to get my puppy his last round of shots and she disagreed with me that he didn't need his dhlpp because of his age. He had only gotten 3 rounds and I needed his fourth so I had to fight with her to get him that. She also tried to sell me other unnecessary vaccines which I did not ask for. When I said no she made me feel as though I was an idiot and my dogs were going to die. Keep in mind my puppy had already received his rabies, and all other shots except his fourth dhlpp, so I didn't feel he needed anything else. Furthermore, I lived on a ranch with my family and rattlesnakes were very common, so my Australian Shepard has had rattlesnake vaccines in the past. She saw this on his records and was quick to tell me that they do nothing and cause more harm than good... but she couldn't tell me what harm? I mean seriously... I'm just here to get my dogs the shots I asked for and you have to let me know I'm wrong about something I'm not even concerning you with? The thing that made me especially sent me over the edge is when she told me both my dogs are obese. My Australian Shepard is a little over a year and weighs 48 pounds and my five month old dachshund weighs 9 pounds. Both are within a healthy range if you look at breed standards. Not to mention my normal hometown vet that I was at just three weeks ago had nothing to say but that they look healthy and happy. She inquired to what I feed them and I told her that I feed them science diet (which is what is in her waiting room) and that I go by what the bag recommends for their weight. She quickly shunned me and told me never to go by the bag. She then asked me what exercise I give them I told her walks everyday and the dog park. Trying to make small talk I mentioned my Aussies new obsession with tennis balls and that it helps to get his energy out... she shunned me for that as well. Telling me I need to be careful because it can cause problems with his teeth?!? At this point I was tired of the whole encounter and was just ready to leave. She asked me what flea and tick prevention I give my dogs... I answered advantix. Yet again, I was met with a gasp and that I was wrong. She told me any over the counter stuff doesn't work and that I need to come back and get her stuff that would cost me $175 a pet.... I mean come on. She told me to come back in 3 weeks to check my dogs weight and I left to the front to go pay. It was a total of $329 which I thought was a bit expensive but whatever. I just wanted to pay and get the hell out of there. I will never being coming back to this establishment. Honestly I am so upset with the way I was treated. It was the condescending tone and the fact that anything I said was wrong. The staff was very sweet but the encounter with the vet was so disrespectful. I feel as though she treated me this way because of my age and the constant comparisons of herself when she was my age to me was not appreciated. I also didn't appreciate the fact that she kept hinting to her belief that I don't have time for my dogs. My dogs are my world, I treat them as my children. This is why I will never be back and I hope after reading this you pick another place as well. read more

Dr. Crippen is the real deal. Her passion and love for all animals is evident in her practice. Any time I bring one of my cats in, she does an extremely thorough assessment. Her treatment recommendations are ethical, practical, and honest. Other reviewers say they had an issue with her bedside manner. This is confusing to me because she is warm and kind to my animals. She has a funny and sarcastic sense of humor, which I appreciate in these situations! Yes, sometimes she might have to put a muzzle, or restrain a scared cat, this is important for the safety of herself and the animals. And as for "no handshake" in the world of medicine handshaking is actually frowned upon and a way to spread germs and disease. I don't want anyone to miss out on her excellent care for their pets due to a bad Yelp review! In the past I've had vets nickel and dime me for everything. As part of her assessment she will clip my old cats long claws that are difficult for me to maintain and deep clean his ears where I'm afraid to clean. It is part of the routine exam. She is very honest about what foods are best for the cats and I always appreciate her tips on the best way to get my old cat to eat his prescription diet. My oldest cat has chronic kidney disease and she always calls to follow up and see how he is doing. She always has a realistic plan of action for his treatment with his happiness in mind first. She never suggests over the top ridiculous treatments like other vets have. She doesn't try and run tests that are not necessary. Her assessment skills are top notch and can recommend the best treatments based on experience and recent studies. She is a true physician for pets. Her prices are fair. The office is clean with separate entrances for cats and dogs... which I really appreciate. I will always trust her with my pets! read more

Absolute best Vet I've ever used for my animals. I moved 34 miles away and kept taking my animals to Dr. Crippen that should say something! Dr. Crippen no matter what would never miss a call to me the next day for a status report or immediate call when lab work came back. It's common practice for her to break down the lab values in a way that a non vet can understand. A friend of mine recently took her small dog to a vet and what a different experience she had, the dog had a very enlarged prostate as diagnosed by the treating vet. The vet gave her dog an anti biotic shot turned around and said maybe it's cancer but, you should definetly call a specialist and left the room. She has called the practice in Cotati multiple times with questions without a single return call back.... this actually happened to her!. I thought that would never happen if your vet was Dr. Crippen's Lakeside Pet Hospital she would never leave a person in that situation. Any time my dogs have needed a specialists Dr. Crippen has helped me get in quickly and follows up with me after she gets her report from the specialist to discuss. I couldn't feel more supported as a pet owner. There are a lot of practices that have flashy lobbies drinks, TV etc. But what matters or should is the expertise of the Vet, how up to date are they on all new hopeful treatments for everything from chronic conditions to the big serious stuff. Dr. Crippen is an absolute 5 stars. The clinic is always clean and sanitary, floors polished, tables cleaned before your pet goes up on that table no matter what!. she's timely and spends time with you and your pet. She really listens to everything you tell her; while engaging with your pet she's keenly observing them. she's mindful of a person's abilities to give medicine and sends you home with the easiest items to use. Her staff rarely turns over; they seem to recognise every person, cat or dog by name when they walk through the door. All may friends have pets and we all discuss our animals all the time, not a one has experienced the care my animal's get with Dr. Crippen, which is normal care all clients and their pets receive in her practice. Dr. Crippen has been my regular vet for the past 10 years and I recommend her without reservation. She saved my beloved house rabbit on at least two occasions, despite not being a rabbit specialist. (Rabbits are considered "exotic" and many vets do not treat them.) My rabbit was prone to GI stasis. She taught me to administer subcutaneous fluid and helped me figure out what was triggering the stasis. She has also treated my cat (who is now an elder) and made practical suggestions for dealing with her aging needs. She is ethical, kind and caring. I appreciate her no-nonsense approach to pet care and that there is no "up-selling" for unnecessary procedures. It's clear that animal care is more than just a business for her. read more

Dr Crippen is most excellent in diagnose & care of my chihuahua Tinker bell. She saw her for serious back pain & gave her relief through meds. What I appreciate about Dr. Crippen is she is so knowledgeable and experienced she can lay out for me all of my options immediately and progressively and I can make my own choice on how to help my pet. On a limited pet budget I was insecure about the exam fees. It always seems like it costs $100 whenever I go there. But my animals are well taken care of and I get to choose how to deal with my pets illness based on what I can afford at the time. At Lakeside I get a much better value for my pet dollar then going to one of the "affordable" care offices. read more

I took my dog to get lumps evaluated. The vet inserted needles into them and took the cells to look at under a microscope. She verbally reported her findings to me but did not give a written report. When I later asked for the results, she had changed the findings and would not provide written results. She has no internet services. It was @$100 waste of money. I don't respect her business practices. read more

Unfortunately, I also had a bad experience with Dr. Crippen. She was rough with my dog, slapping on a muzzle before she even told me or asked me, blamed my dog for "not making it easy on her" over and over to do a rectal exam then a rectal biopsy (to be clear, my dog was just squirming around as anyone would in that situation), snapping dirty gloves in my face. And then telling me I need to make a third appointment to do what should have been done on the second one. I suggested sedation for my dog for an invasive procedure that Dr. Crippen clearly was having trouble with. But she said no, until again she couldn't get the biopsy. After charging me more than $300 for what amounted to nothing, and refusing to credit some of that, I moved on to another recommended vet. The new one did a full physical exam, including rectal, a blood test and got the old records from Dr. Crippen in 30 mins. She called me with results and recommendations within a few days. I was impressed. And more importantly my dog was more comfortable. read more

Was not impressed with the bedside manner of Dr. Crippen. Not only did she not even introduce herself to me or shake my hand when she walked in the room (and it was my first time there), but I didn't really feel she listened to my concerns regarding my animal. I was a bit thrown off by the quick visit and the lack of advice/care and left there feeling like I didn't get much help for my pet at all. All in all, it wasn't a terrible experience but I don't think I'll be bringing my cat back to Lakeside Pet Hospital anytime soon. read more

I think Dr. Crippen is wonderful, my elderly cat had a very big cancer on her ear and needed surgery. She was extremely kind and caring of my cat Katie and helped me through the whole process of amputating half her ear. I would recommend her highly to anyone. read more

So I made an appointment for my dog to get spayed here. I called twice and was given an estimate that it would be no more than $400 which is reasonable between all the vets around here. I called the day before just to confirm my appointment since the Coronavirus has had a major impact on all business around here. When I showed up to my appointment they tell me the price has gone up from my original estimate to $900 more than DOUBLE the original estimate that I was given. It wasn't until after we argued and I was leaving they told me they had given me a wrong quote but yet couldn't tell me when I called the day before to confirm my appointment and when I asked to see the original it was just magically gone. This place is just trying to use this virus going around to make as much money as possible and it's horrific. They were not understanding nor would they even attempt to make their own mistake better. Worst. Service. Ever. In the mist of a crisis no less. read more

We had called other vets and they were either out to lunch or unavailable. Our latest cat recently underwent cancer treatment for his nose and is doing very well. I have been very impressed by Lakeside's excellent care and business practices. I recently took my older dog in for detail care and I was first briefed with a comprehensive worksheet explaining the various medical procedures and applicable costs. In other offices, it's often a WISIWYG - What You See Is What You Get - with a surprising bill that will catch you flat footed. And while my poor guy need lots of extractions, the vet and his staff were very accommodating and friendly, doing everything possible to make my dog (and me) comfortable and supportive with helpful information. I compliment the entire Lakeside staff for creating a friendly, pet loving atmosphere without coming across as high-powered professionals only interested in maximizing their profits. read more

I have been going to Lakeside Pet Hospital for over 30 years. Dr. Crippen is such a competent Vet! She is very matter of fact and knows SOOO much about animals and how to help them. She is not super touchy/feely but I can tell you from years of experience with her, and many heart breaking losses, when I have needed someone to help me she has always been there. Sometimes what she does is help me pull myself together so that I can actually drive home! I trust Dr. Crippen unconditionally with my beloved pets. I always have and I always will! read more
