I get them the "traditional" way, on corn tortillas with chopped white onion, cilantro and lime. Great price for 3 tacos! I've eaten here a hand full of times and always get the same thing! I really like this place. They have a mix of Mexican food and American food, but I go there for the Mexican food. Great tacos - pastor, cartnitas and beef, as well as very good quesadillas. The people are very friendly and they have a good selection of beer. Prices are very reasonable. This is a regular lunch stop for me. read more

Outstanding Mexican food! I am originally from New Mexico and Arizona and this is the first restaurant I have found in Florida that even comes close to authentic Mexican food. They use queso fresco cheese instead of the strange and unpleasant white velveeta cheese most Floridian Mexican restaurants use. Everything tasted fresh, the rice and beans were flavorful, the salsa was a little watery but it had heat, the chicken was outstanding, and the chile rellenos were awesome! Our first visit to the Lakeville Grill... it won't be our last. We ordered: a couple of refreshing Sangrias, the Azteca Soup, Chiles Rellenos, Grilled Shrimp (a la diabla, spicy), and the yummy Flan for dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked, delivered hot, and delicious. In addition to the wonderful and authentic Mexican food, the owner was charming, and the waitstaff attentive and personable. If you're looking for fresh, authentic Mexican food you've found the joint in Clearwater. I'm not sure why reviewers complain about the ambiance. It had that great hole-in-the-wall Mexican vibe that signals you're about to eat amazing food. I recommend asking for the extra hot sauce to enjoy w/ your chips and salsa. Now with the service, our server seemed very uninterested and extremely dull, i thought maybe he was having a bad day, but im reading other reviews and they all are similar. The service was way below par. The fajitas were pretty good. The Two stars are because of the fajitas. I dont think I want to go back. Its a very uninviting restaurant. First of all, this is a compliment: This is honestly the first time I've eaten at a Mexican (or any ethnic theme) restaurant where there are people of the culture eating in. That is a sign to me that the food is probably good. Tonight they ran out of chilles rellanos which is what my husband loves. Our waitress was very apologetic but explained that they only make so many a day because it's homemade. So he ordered carne asada instead. I had the veggie enchilada. EVERYTHING tasted fresh, it wasn't heavy or greasy the veggies didn't taste frozen and still had a little bite to them. I love cilantro, so I didn't mind the amount they finish the dish with, but some may ask for it to be pulled back a bit. The refried beans still had bits in it instead of being a gloopy, bland brick cement. The rice (which is my personal test at Mexican places) was moist, well-seasoned and just the right amount. The service was decent. There weren't a ton of people there, and the food came out in an acceptable amount of time. Our server had a quiet voice, which was nice after a long day, and most importantly she didn't hover. I can stand a loud, obnoxious server asking trite questions every 5 minutes. Let me/us eat in peace. I will MOST definitely come again- especially because our family of four was well fed for $45! read more

Really fantastic food here. The inside is not fancy but it is clean. The staff is always very helpful. If you have someone in your family who doesn't like Mexican food they can have a burger which they grind themselves and is very good . The burrito is my favorite although I order it without the ranch type sauce they put on to. My family and I go here almost every time we go out to eat. read more

My husband and I have been going to Lakeview Grill since we moved to Clearwater a year ago. The food is consistently very good and the wait staff is always friendly and prompt. Tonight being Cinco De Mayo we decide to head out for some Mexican food and saw Lamb Flauntas on the specials (I ordered those and my husband had the chicken version). They were quite good with the tortilla very crispy and the lamb/chicken moist and tender. The refried beans are delicious (I'm not a fan of pasty beans) These were very yummy and remind me of our trip to Mexico. The salsa for the chips I would say are probably like a Picante style. We enjoyed our dinner very much and will be back again. I also wanted to say their Lamb shank is really great and I enjoy their Chicken Quesadilla as well. Sour cream does not come on the plate but is always offered (btw they don't offer it at all in Mexico...at least not where we were). read more

Is there a way to give no stars? I'll admit, I wasn't excited about eating here from the moment we pulled up, but my husband insisted that he read great reviews on Yelp and has wanted to try it for a while. There was only one other table of people in the restaurant. When I sat down in the booth, there was a rather large dead bug on it that I had to flick off. My husband asked me numerous times if I wanted to leave, but I thought I would still give them a chance. I was craving a taco salad, a good quality, not Taco Bell taco salad. When I asked what their taco salad was like, they pointed to the picture. It was a salad of iceberg lettuce with what I think were carrots, black olives, maybe onions, and whatever meat you chose with tortilla chips underneath, not a taco shell bowl that I am used to. Well, I didn't order that because that just sounded like a garden salad with chips which isn't what I was wanting. We ordered some chips and queso because we figured how could that be bad. The chips were stale, cold, and flimsy, and the "queso" was what I think was melted velveeta cheese. It was served with what I think was supposed to be salsa, but it was red liquid, but it did have a good spice to it. I think that was the most flavorful thing I had. I ended up ordering the carne asada and my entree, and my husband got the Enchilada's with salsa verde. He said the salsa verde was probably the only thing that gave his meal the flavor, as that's all he could taste, but it was good. My carne asada came with rice and refried beans ,the rice wasn't very good, cold, and the meat was not good at all. I poured that "salsa" liquid on it for flavor. It gets even better. Just when we finished eating, we heard a scream, and then the two, what I believe to be the owners, running into the dining room chasing a rat, stepping on its tail and then kicking it multiple times towards the door, until finally they made it out the front door. I know its a rat, and I'm sure they freaked out because people were eating in the dining room, but that just seemed cruel to me.The owner's were so apologetic, and I'm sure so embarrassed, and they seemed nice enough, but that's not enough to ever bring me back there. We paid our bill, left, and saw the dead rat lying there right outside of the restaurant. I don't think I've ever had a worse experience. read more

Brandon and I came here for date night Wednesday and when we walked in there were two tables of Mexican/Latino people who ordered cheeseburgers.... Suspect! Anyways we sat down and ordered. Our waitress was very young, I would venture to say barely old enough to be working, she was very syh and timid and barely spoke loud enough to hear. I ordered the taco salad and Brandon had enchiladas.... My salad was not good.. The chicken was so weird tasting and the salad didn't really have toppings that should come on a taco salad .... Like it had cucumber, onion, ranch, lettuce, cheese.... Pretty much a garden salad if you ask me the only difference was the pita/Mexican bread slices around it. Brandon's enchiladas were gross! I didn't like them at all in fact when I tried them I could barely get it down. He only ate half his plate of food which is a big sign that it was not good ! I guess the rest of the reviews had a totally different experience then us because we were very disappointed and probably won't be going back :-(! read more

This is excellent food in an authentic style. It is delicious and the presentation shows great care and attention to detail. The ambience reflects that the building was (maybe) an old quick check, but it is comfortable, has convenient parking and is very clean. The family owners have decorated, but there is a limit when you don't have a New York budget; go for the food and family-run hospitality but maybe not for a first date night. I'm pretty - make that 'very' - picky and have traveled a lot; this is the best I have found in the area. Try the fried whole fish, or the enchiladas, or anything else. The salsa may not be what some are used to, but it is authentic to this style, freshly made here, and delicious. Likewise the refried beans, rice and everything else I tried. My brother and I shared the steak quesadilla, and I'm note exaggerating when I say that it was the best quesadilla either of us has ever had. My dad ordered the pork burrito and didn't come up for air once he started eating. The shrimp ceviche also was on point. Well I have to say I wouldn't be looking for a Mexican restaurant with the name "Lakeview Grill" Thank you YELP for the reviews that pointed me to give this restaurant a try. Being a born and bred Californian Mexican it is always difficult finding true, authentic (NOT the Tex-Mex stuff)Mexican restaurants in this area. My friend and I enjoyed the chilies rellenos and chicken dinner enchiladas w green salsa were fabulous! Great rice and beans too! Generous portions, great service and good prices.If you are just looking for good food without the Food Network type hype this is the place to go.
