I've been here twice in the last two weeks because this place is that amazing! Both times on a Friday night with live music. The place is the perfect mix of high class and casual. We've tried a little bit of everything and yet to be disappointed by the food! The service has been slower than we are use to but at the same time the people serving us have been polite and helpful. This is a place you can expect to spend about 2 hours at. When you are done with dinner you can take a nice stroll along Lake Oswego. They have a nice outside area near by where you can wait if you don't want to wait inside. They will take your number down and text you when your table is ready. I saw a review on this place after I'd been here with a friend. We had a pretty good experience and so I wanted to be very fair on mine. Visited a 3rd time and we had the same waiter, Trevor. Sweetest and very attentive to our needs. BTW, he's a Chiropractor by trade and waits at nights here. Service was great and so was the food. Restaurant is very clean inside and out. Bathrooms are just as clean, which for me is important since I have cancer. Since today is Mother's Day, we were able to get seats by the bar. Actually, we were given a seat by a corner, I told our hostess, that I needed to use the restroom first. My husband was parking, and I described her what he looks like, so she can just point him to our table. She said 'OK'. I got out of the restroom, and another host gave our table to another family, while my husband was texting me: "Where are you? I'm here!" I found our hostess, and she gave me another table, more in the middle, where there's more activities. Hubby ordered the Oregon Berry Pork Ribs, with onion rings, coleslaw and blackberry BBQ. The 'ranch dressing' for the onion rings didn't taste like ranch. I ordered the Steak Frites with citrus soy marinade, sidewinder fries, and broccolini. I like my steak, and the fries, but the broccolini, it needed something. I asked for honey mustard. I was almost done with dinner, and I was still waiting for honey mustard, we asked again for the 2nd time. I was so disappointed, because it had Dijon Mustard! That was a FIRST! Otherwise, the ribs and onion rings, were good, and the coleslaw was also good, but hubby's coleslaw was much better. (We HAVE to eat the vegetables, it comes with the meal!) Nobody refilled my water. The busboy I talked to was much friendlier. I asked him where the lake was, and he pointed it out to me. He also suggested, we "should go take a look, it's beautiful!" I agree! We took some photos. It's always dark, when we visit LO, so for the first time, we are seeing it in the daylight. My mom recently moved to Lake Oswego so we have been taking her places. This was new for all of us. We have now been here 3 times and the food has been good every time. If you have a kid the Mac and cheese is a table pleaser for sure. Burgers and French dip are also good. It hasn't been very crowded which has been nice but I know it gets busy. read more

So a group of four couples are choosing a different restaurant each month. This was our first location to start off our monthly trek. It was a very good choice to start with. The service and food was excellent. Our waiter Dale did a great job, very professional. I had the deviled eggs appetizer. Sooo good. Would highly recommend. I then had the ribeye for dinner. I like the place, service is good, food usually very good. But yesterday definitely had a problem with the food, specifically the ribs. My friend and I just got finished with a light walk and we were hungry. I ask my friend to pick the restaurant since I've been to all in this area. She picked the tap house. Nice. We ordered, she got the soup, salad, sandwich combo and I went for the ribs and French onion. Few minutes went by and they served me the soup but my friend got nothing. So I waited. And waited, and waited, and waited, and finally our food arrived. Not many customers here for that type of time. My friend started in as I ate the cooled soup. Then I turned my attention to the ribs. Ok, no sharp knife, just a butter knife, that may mean I don't need anything sharp, thinking "Nice". But I tried to cut into the ribs and the meat was very hard. I tried a second time in another spot and the knife popped out of my hand, sauce flew everywhere, and the knife landed on the floor. No staff was around so I cleaned up the mess and pushed the ribs to the other side of the table. A manager came around and noticed ribs and asked if there was a problem and I answered yes and explained. He started to take the ribs back and asked if I would like something else. Nope. It will take just as long to prepare, then have my friend wait as I finish my lunch. Nope, nope, nope. The manager came back and said "The head chef confirmed the ribs were undercooked". Then why did you serve them to me? The staff who cooked the ribs may not have known they were undercooked, but what about that staff plating or the head chef the should be overseeing the food preparation? Ribs should just about to be falling off the bone. Otherwise it's not edible! read more

We recently celebrated both my husband's and my son's birthdays at Lakeview Taphouse and were looking forward to a special evening. The food was good, the atmosphere was enjoyable, and our server was pleasant. Unfortunately, the way our seating was handled left us very disappointed. When I called to make our reservation, I specifically asked if we could reserve a table on the patio. I was told that the restaurant does not take reservations for outdoor seating, but that guests with reservations would have priority for patio seating when they arrived. Based on that information, we made a reservation and expected to have a good chance of sitting outside. However, when we arrived, we were told the wait for a patio table would be 45 minutes. What made this especially frustrating was that there were several empty tables outside while we waited. We don't know if this was due to being understaffed or another reason, but it was confusing and disappointing. Had we known this was how patio seating actually worked, we would have chosen another restaurant. It was a beautiful evening, and one of the main reasons we chose Lakeview Taphouse was to celebrate outside. Instead, our party of five spent close to $200 celebrating inside a very cold dining room. We hope management will clarify its patio seating and reservation policy so guests know exactly what to expect. A little more transparency and consistency would have made a big difference and would have made this birthday celebration much more enjoyable. read more

Have been coming to this restaurant for the last 2 months, in total I've probably consumed more that 10-15 of the Apple fig burgers. A perfect blend of sweet and savory. Absolutely never disappoints. A standby lunch and dinner option for us in LO, Lakeview Taphouse is both versatile and dependable. Some nice offerings on the menu, including damn tasty bruschettas, fish tacos, burgers and sandwiches. The only thing I've tried so far on the menu that I wasn't crazy about were the ribs. While the berry bbq sauce was delicious, the meat itself was tough and difficult to eat. It's the only miscue I've seen so far in a half dozen meals here. Otherwise, this place delivers. Some nice local beers on tap and other local offerings available by can. Can't beat the location either. Great place to sit on the patio adjacent to the plaza overlooking the lake or catch a game at the bar inside. Great for families, drinks with friends or a casual date night. Service has been consistently good. Recommend. (4.25 stars). read more

I have been at this newly renovated restaurant several times since they opened a few months ago. I have to say that the food has improved since opening week! It is owned by the upscale Five Spice Restaurant next door, which has amazing and consistent food, so no wonder it is good. When you go, try the focaccia- they serve large pieces with eight topping combinations- something for everyone. They cut each piece into 4 sections so they are easy to eat. I have tried nearly all of them and they are all good! Last night a friend ordered the Mahi fish tacos and I ordered the pork tacos. Then we shared. Both different and both delicious. In the picture you see the leftovers - one of each. They come with fresh corn chips a small but mighty cup of hot sauce. It had a kick - just perfect for me, too hot for my friend. The hot sauce added a little something, not just hot. Really nice flavor. As a Taphouse, they do not disappoint. Lots of choices in beer - and some really good ones that you rarely see. Why only 4 stars this time? Our waiter was not very friendly or present. Took our order, the food runner brought the food and, he eventually brought the bill. I wanted more of that great hot sauce and he was nowhere to be found. I have had great service there before, so have heart. read more

I have never been here and neither had some of my friends so we decided to eat dinner here for the first time. First off, coming in... the young woman hostess with the blonde hair was busy with her cell phone and didn't look up she totally did not acknowledge me so I just went and sat down. There were only a couple other tables in the restaurant with patrons so they weren't busy. It was really surprising for a Saturday evening that this place was so dead because it's a nice restaurant on Lake O. I went and seated myself in the lounge even though I had a reservation I watched this hostess as people came in no smiles or greetings and she looked mad. This totally was a huge turn off for me because it set the tone of what this place is like. In the bar, we encountered the same thing there were a couple guys behind the bar. One of them came to wait on us, and he totally was not into it. It took him a while to take our order and once our food arrived we didn't see him again, but yet he was standing behind the counter just visiting with the other bartender. I had the wedge salad with a grilled chicken breast on the side. It was good. I am really surprised and I think I know why nobody was in this restaurant. read more

The service and the ambience is excellent, the food was just OK. What I can say is that the food looks beautiful presentation is on point, but it's pretty bland. We were a group of five, in for brunch on a Saturday. We ordered Eggs Benedict, Steak and Eggs and the Prime Rib Hash, as well as the Avocado Bruschetta. Everything was fine (three stars), and again looked pretty, but I had to add salt and pepper to everything. The flavor just wasn't there. We saw a lot of lunch and items coming through towards the end of our meal and those looked gorgeous. Three stars? Four? I'm torn. Probably all depends on your tolerance for scrubbed clean suburban interiors versus rustic Portland charm. Lakeview Taphouse skews heavily toward the former, but it's a pleasant enough environment with a proper large, square shaped bar up front (facing the aforementioned lake) and a soaring high ceiling above and lots of glass overlooking the water. It's a nice vibe, with high tops and lower tables scattered around under the right kind of dim-ish lights. Back behind that is the dining area with larger low tables, some booths and brighter lights and a view to the big open kitchen. We came in to watch the semifinals of the US Open which the TVs (I counted four) were thankfully showing; it's not quite a sports bar or a beer hall but I suppose you could use it as one. In any case our server was quick to check on us, was informative and the food came out quick. We got the hummus plate and the fish tacos, both of which were overpriced but at least the hummus plate was interesting with silky tangy hummus and seasonal vegetables rather than the usual formula, and the fish tacos were hearty and not overbreaded and came in a good portion (3)- though honestly they were not fresh off the boat. Good wine and beer list, but still on the pricey side - I guess that's to be expected, this is Lake O. Clean, efficient, friendly, and okay but not great food - so if that's what you're after, here you go. read more

Honestly pathetic place in Lake Oswego. Only good part was the live music. Service was subpar, food average, staff look like zombies. Literally you look at the menu and wonder what Sysco delivered pre cooked meal it is. If I owned this place I'd make major changes. There is a reason it is dead night after night. Service was good, and at least two people in our party seemed to be okay with their selections. I will say, though, that the Caesar salad was the worst I've ever had. When it arrived I noticed an "odor" which I couldn't quite identify. Was it the "crouton"? No. It wasn't the dressing either. When I looked again at the menu, I realized I'd missed something: it comes with "toasted" capers. I realize that chefs are always trying to put their "spin" on a Caesar salad, but anyone--and I mean anyone--who gets within a foot of that salad will notice a somewhat revolting aroma, caused evidently by toasting capers. Even without the capers, the salad was mediocre. I noticed that another person in our party didn't finish the plate, nor did I. There was a similar problem with the deviled eggs. More "innovation" to the absolute detriment of the dish. Good selection of beers. We only went to the taproom because our usual eatery was packed. We won't be returning. read more

So it's still new, but I've been twice. They seem to have it together already! The food is good! Not mind blowing but good food i would come back for. Servers are all amazing (especially Stacy and Mandy). First trip there it took a minute to get our drinks food but the second time was so much faster just three days later. I got the corn ribs (good!) the bruschetta board (fun and yummy) and the risotto. All tasted fresh :) I would skip the fondue. I got southwest salad my second trip, and the red peppers on there are very spicy. Be warned! It's new in lake o, so of course it's gonna be bussssyyyy. Indoors takes reservations, outdoors does not. I have not dined indoors yet, but it looks so beautiful inside. It's classy and a nice addition to the area. Outside welcomes dogs and staff is so accommodating and nice.
