I've never been to Lakewood Cafe before - I'm happy with Dalrock so no sense in branching out. Today however I was dropping some stuff off at the UPS store so I figured why not. I have absolutely now learned why not *smh* I ordered an entree salad - the Turkey Club; sub ranch for honey mustard, no tomatoes please and thank you. I received the salad with a 2 oz cup of honey mustard so wrong dressing and not enough for the salad ( didn't know they were chintzy or I'd have ordered extra), diced tomatoes and possibly the stemiest greens I have ever encountered. Tried out this little hidden gem of a place for the first time. It was tucked away in a strip shopping center. The place is rather small, but the food makes up for that. The menu has over 50+ breakfasts and lunch items. They serve both all day. We decided we were doing breakfast. I had the 4 pcs cinnamon swirl French toast. It also came with 2-eggs-bacon or 1 patty. I choose the 2 eggs/bacon turkey. My hubby got one of the 6 different skillets. His was sausage, bacon, eggs, hash browns and cheese extra. He also added biscuits and sausage gravy. Everything was delicious. Very favorable. Just the right amount of s&p. And sweet and savor. They even have favored creamers already on the table, so we just added decaf to the mix.Prices were right on point for everything that you got. Very filling for sure. Great breakfast spot, would definitely recommend checking it out! The menu has SOO many options (filled front and back) and they serve savory and sweet breakfast items! I ordered the eggs Benedict and I thought it was really good, probably one of the best I've had. I asked for the eggs to be medium hard and it was cooked perfectly! The hollandaise sauce was also really really good! Portion sizes are huge, so you get your money's worth! When I stopped in on Wednesday morning there were 5 occupied tables. The booth that I was taken to had a clean table top but crumbs on the booth seats on both sides. That was just from a bit of laziness because there was time to clean. It wasn't busy. And it takes less than 5 seconds to wipe a seat clean. I tried the Mama's Special for $6.99 which comes with 2 buttermilk pancakes, 1 egg and the choice of 2 strips of bacon or 1 sausage patty. I selected the bacon. It's cooked crisp, I made a good choice. I ordered the egg over hard. It came to the table over medium. I've gotten accustomed to cafes doing that so I never send it back. They have Cholula hot sauce sitting out on the tables which is nice and convenient. On to the buttermilk pancakes, they are big as the plate, light and fluffy and delicious. This is one of those cafes that dust a little powdered sugar on top. I don't see the point. Maybe it's for plate presentation, I don't know. I just spread the butter, poured the syrup and enjoyed. The orange juice comes in 2 sizes. The small is a nice serving in a normal size juice glass. They don't put it in the little plastic baby cup like some diners and cafes do. read more

So it's Easter Sunday and we headed to our usual spot in downtown Rockwall only to be struck with sticker shock as they were doing a Sunday brunch all-you-can-eat for $36 a head. Where should I start? I love corned beef hash and eggs, but not many places offer it - it's here. Chicken fried chicken or steak, with or without eggs - check. Grilled-cheese sammy? With or w/out ham. Belgian waffles with fruit, crepes, pancakes, poached eggs, eggs hollandaise, assorted skillet-mixes, sausage/bacon/ham, chicken & waffles - EVERYTHING. After church, breakfast is a must for this family. We found a new place close to the church we visited. Lakewood is found in a strip mall and parking is not an issue. You enter and wait to be seated with the Texas Rona protocols. Here you have a QR code to view your menu. The restaurant sitting area is big and no issues for family a large family. Luckily it was mom and I while our three Tazmanian Devils enjoyed quality time with grandparents. As we placed our order, wife being a creature of habit ordered French toast and I took our friendly servers recommendation for meat lovers skillet. If needed, the bathrooms are located by the kitchen. While waiting for your meal you couldn't avoid the friendly environment by not only those eating there but employees. The portions were ok and the skillet was layered with different meats and the eggs were cooked just right. The side stack of pancakes were heavy and not flavourful. Wife enjoyed her French Toast with bacon and eggs. The meal was inexpensive at $23 dollars plus tip. If you are in the neighborhood, drop on by and get your skillet on! read more

Tried Lakewood Cafe for the first time at 9am on a Saturday. Most tables were full, but there wasn't a wait. I ordered the sausage and eggs with grits and biscuit. The sausage was tasty, the eggs were fine, and the grits were a little runny. The star of this show was the biscuit. It was everything a biscuit should be - light, fluffy, flaky, and tasty - PLUS it had been buttered, halved, and grilled, cut side down, for an amazing, slightly crispy finish. Genius. The wait staff were very, very young, like in their teens, so there was some inefficiency and BS going on but not too much. Next time I go to Lakewood Cafe - and there WILL be a next time - I'm just going to order a pile of those biscuits and eat them until i collapse into a carb coma and they have to cart my bloated body outside. read more

You'd never think this would be a great restaurant when you walk in to the place because it's extremely dark and small but the food is DELICIOUS service is EXCELLENT! We came for brunch around 11am during the week and we were immediately seated. First off the coffee is so good! I had to cut myself off from having more than 1 because it was creamy, rich and bold and not watery like most breakfast places. I got the chicken and waffles with a side of hashbrowns. I actually ate the while thing and mind you I do not have a big appetite it was that good. The waffle was crispy and chewy and soft on the inside. The chicken tenders and gravy were hot, crispy and delicious. I was hoping for bigger chicken tenders (see the photo) but nevertheless it was good. I gotta stop being greedy because it was so good I wanted seconds. Hashbrowns were undercooked though so I didnt really enjoy that but our server was so kind, bubbly and she was so accommodating to my 2 year old niece. I would come back HANDS DOWN. Terrible service this morning. One cup of coffee and no refill. Food was cold. Waffle was so cold it didn't melt the fake butter. Unsure when we will try this place again. Six or seven wait staff hanging out back by the kitchen but still no offer of a refill. Guess I'll go home and make a pot Well we went back at 1:15pm on a Friday afternoon. Lunch rush definitely over only one other table with diners who were done. The place closes at 3:00. I'm unsure what to tell you here. Full complaint or just drop the whole deal and never return. Our waitress was super polite which is why I'm giving this a 3 star. But unfortunately they cook with a canola oil mix, which is unhealthy and highly inflammatory. I requested if they could use butter when our waitress insisted if she could get me something. Unfortunately the weren't able too. I understand using canola oil is the easiest way to cook food and probably more cost efficient but this is a restaurant so I expected more. My boyfriend & 1 went here last weekend for breakfast. I had the breakfast burrito and he had the chicken fried steak w biscuits. I chose the burrito cause it looked good on 1 of the pics on here but to be honest it wasn't all that. The salsa was good. Perfect amount of seasoning wasn't bland. The meat inside the burrito was ok I think it was just the tortilla and how the burrito was layered inside. The cheese wasn't ooey gooey as expected just like a layer of shredded cheese nothing special. My boyfriend on the other had said his chicken fried steak was really good and the biscuits OMG I tried the biscuits and they were moist, buttery and flaky. I would definitely come back for the Biscuits and gravy for sure. O I almost forgot to mention I ordered an orange juice and it came out not as a regular size cup but a whisky size cup of orange juice. I don't like that at all. read more

Our first visit for breakfast was certainly one not to base a first impression on. There was food, silverware, and dirty napkins all over the floor, not just a under a couple of tables but literally throughout the entire cafe. I got the waffle with berries, it was good, nice to have fresh berries instead of compote for a change, (i hate compote). We did make a 2nd trip, I got the waffles again. I went yesterday for the 3rd time. Ordered blueberry pancakes and asked for extra blueberries in it. You can imagine my surprise when I got 3 pancakes each with 6, yes SIX blue berries in each. thankfully they come with blueberries you can put on top. The coffee is decent. Best breakfast place I've been to in Rockwall! This place blow places like Cafe Brazil out of the water. I basically never want to go to cafe brazil again. Our server, Genevieve, was awesome. She took care of us and was super friendly throughout our whole visit. The bf ordered 2 things and he finished it all so he got a high five from her lol. The food was delicious and looked pleasing before I even had a bite. I ordered the Mexican omelet with pancakes, my bf got the meat skillet with an over easy egg on top, biscuits, and a very berry wallet. If I had a nice camera, I would have used it to take the photos to show you guys. Food came out quickly as well! Oh and their iced coffee with hazelnut syrup is delish as well. First time here was this am. It was certainly packed. The atmosphere is nice but the decor needs help. Service was HORRIBLE! Unfortunately with the service being so BAD I did not find the food fabulous as I have read & expensive for not even getting what we actually ordered. It's sad period. We placed our order and it took over 35 min to get to us. My order came with pancakes yet the sever forgot syrup so by the time I got syrup my pancakes were cold. My sausage was cold. I also specifically said to bring me lots and I said to her lots of jalapeños she forgot those as well and by the time she brought them my food was cold. Baccon was overly oily n all we asked for was a napkin but she took the baccon and put it into the microwave. Yucko. I did not eat it. Ordered berry Ice tea omg it was gross. When I asked for reg. Tea the server argued with me. I said excuse me but your not me. The busboy was the best and he tried to help but unfortunately the server said he can't help you he is just a busboy. I wanted to lay into her and say what do you know about the word TEAM!! The rest of our table had the same issues so I am extremely disappointed. read more

First visit here, and the food was excellent! I had the Eggs Benedict and hubby had cinnamon French toast and we both finished every bite! Eggs were cooked to perFECtion! Only reason for 4 stars out of 5 was the fact that Caitlin, our server, wasn't very attentive. She was very sweet, but it took 2 requests for hubby's sugar-free syrup, and he never DID get the extra butter he requested, and altho we set our empty coffee cups on edge of table for refills, she kept walking right past them til we finally got her attention and asked for more. So, for the first time in ages, I reduced my standard 20% tip to only a little more than 15%. But we'll definitely be back! Will just ask for different server next time, as they all seemed eager to please. read more
