My table needed so many accommodations, and our servers & waiters did not make us feel guilty! I've been to this location multiple times, but it was the first time taking my friends from Fresno. They absolutely adore the beach view, they loved the quality of taste of our foods and want to go back again! I went to school at CSUMB and would always come for special occasions. The atmosphere was great... beautiful views! The service was great. The food was not. I ordered a crab Louie and the only thing fresh and the salad was the lettuce and the hard boiled eggs. The crab had no flavor, monster size cucumbers slices with a lot of rind on them, big chunks of parts of palm, and the thousand Island dressing was not very flavorful. My husband ordered seafood linguine he was not very pleased with it either. Our server told us there was a problem with water in the area so we had to order a bottle of still water and it cost $7.00 for the bottle!! Very good food- got the crab stuffed salmon with mashed potatoes and asparagus- my partner got a chicken and shrimp Alfredo pasta- both of which were great. We called ahead of time to try and make reservations and they told us not to, that there wasnt a wait. When we got there they made us wait 20 mins- of which could have been avoided had she let us make the reservation. We came for my bday- they didn't sing nor provide a bday treat- we had to purchase the chocolate mousse cake (which was delish). But was brought out WHILE we were still eating. Came in a rainy /windy 2022 New Year Eve. We were anxious to get a drink after a long rainy ride from Sacramento. We were seated in a comfortable booth , and we were able to see ocean views. We started with an orange heffenweizer and a delicious mojitos plus a champagne cocktail drink. An excellent chips and guacamole / salsa /bean dip appetizer were up next . usually, i dont write reviews but this experience was definitely one to remember. we sat down and ordered a pomegranate breeze as well as a half dozen oysters to start. the first pomegranate breeze that came out had lipstick stains over the top of the glass that we wiped off and you can see in the photo of the napkin. when we received a replacement, you can see that only the top was wiped but deeper in the glass still had some sort of noticeable wipeable residue. the oysters were okay, shells were flakey and left a fishy aftertaste. the steak was underseasoned and the fries were seasoned with raw garlic which we didnt expect. overall main issue was cleanliness of the dishes. prices and quality were kind of expected. read more

We ended up here because of the long wait time for the other 3 restaurants we went to before coming here. However, we have to say it was a nice experience overall. we thoroughly enjoyed the food here. Here is my take on different parameters: Food: Loved it. It is 5/5 for sure & the comes in good quantity too. Even their bar is full-fledged and has plenty of options to choose from. Cocktails are highlighted and you must try them for sure. Ambiance: Ocean view glass window and a lot of crowds & with a nice looking open bar. Luckily we got out table within 20 mins but trust me that's very good especially when other places we went to before this had 1-2 hours of wait time. Price: It is a little on the higher end and that's the reason for taking away one star. Service: The server was very good to us and he brought of dishes soon too. Very welcoming overall. Ordered lobster nachos. There was absolutely no lobster meat in this. They used surimi, an imitation crab that is made out of cheap fish. The strands of meat were all uniformly thick. The taste was exactly like the fake surimi - mushy. It didn't have the chewy bite of real lobster. We called the manager over and he claimed to have checked with the chef to confirm it was real lobster. The manager shouldn't have lied. Just admit you were cutting costs by giving us imitation crab. But he did finally agree to take it off our bill. When the seafood risotto came, it was the same situation. However, this time around they had a mixture of imitation crab with real crab meat. A little better than the first dish, but they were still trying to cut costs with inferior seafood. This place is in the heart of downtown Monterey. There's no excuse that they use inferior seafood and false claims on the menu. Monterey is supposed to have good fresh seafood. read more

Tried this place on a whim during a trip to Monterey! It is located on Cannery Row which is quite busy but we were sat immediately. The interior of the restaurant was a very pleasant surprise as it was very clean and modern with an amazing ocean view. The service was good and quick. We ordered the wild mushroom flatbread and the crabbed stuffed salmon. I really enjoyed the flatbread! The dough was soft, fluffy and cooked to perfection! The toppings all went together great! My partner had the crab stuffed salmon and said it was good. The pairing was a bit odd and the sauce was a bit too heavy. The mashed potatoes and asparagus that came with it were great! Last night went to watch the boat light parade in Monterey harbor. Had reservations at Lalla Grill Oceanside. Servers were polite but very busy. They definitely needed more help. The food was good. Ordered a burger and fries. Also ordered bread for the table, was told it'd be an additional $2/fee which I agreed to. Server never brought the bread. Being the parade night it was very loud. There is a different manager there now than when we went the first time which has made a big impact. The Service and Food were excellent. Our server, Serena, was top notch! Lalla is ALL about the view! If I want to eat somewhere on Cannery Row that will guarantee me a basically unobstructed ocean view, then I am coming here! With the floor to ceiling windows in this bright and light space, it's hard not to feel at ease while you watch the waves rolling onto the beach below. Aside from the view, the food is pretty good too! The menu has a wide variety for sea and land lovers alike, as well as some vegetarian options too. Every time I've come here I've ordered something different. Most recently it was the fish tacos, which were really good! The tacos were fairly small as was the amount of fish on each one, but the order came with four tacos, and the fish that was there was absolutely fantastic. The beans on the side had an off taste so I didn't eat them, but the tacos ended up being filling enough. Another favorite here is the alfredo pasta. It's been a while since I've ordered it, as my pallet for seafood has grown over the years, but I definitely would not sleep on that chicken alfredo! I wouldn't say this is the best seafood you can find in Monterey or on the Row, but it's a fun restaurant with an amazing view and nice service. I don't like to write bad reviews but my goodness. Service is really where this restaurant falls short. We were seated at a table in the middle to accommodate for my handicap mother. Once our main courses got to our table he would circle us and attend to everyone around us BUT US! Waiters always check in not long after the meal is served to make sure everything is good... this guy didn't check in until AFTER we already finished our main course (except the steak). I'd say it took around 15-20mins before he checked in. For sure we could've waived him down but we gamified this situation since we'd read a previous review of this same issue. The big problem with this service was my father had ordered a medium steak and It came out pretty damn rare. Never got it fixed cause waiter checked in so late. We weren't dressed elegantly by any means; that's the only conclusion our party could come up with as to why everyone else got attentive service but us... the behavior was super suspicious. The waiter also had downtime talking with other servers so, theres no excuse he had no time to check in. The food was average-good and the view was awesome. Our group of seven, all locals, was a bit on the loud side--fun, but definitely lively! From the start, our server Serena made the experience exceptional. She came across as a seasoned professional: kind, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. To our surprise, we later found out she'd only been with Lalla Grill for a few months. It's rare to see such a natural talent for hospitality. The food was delicious, and everything came out perfectly. We didn't encounter a single issue, and Serena ensured we were well taken care of throughout the night. We never had to ask for anything; she anticipated all our needs effortlessly. Thank you, Serena (and all of the staff) for helping make our evening special. I promised to write this review the next day but am admittedly a few days late--it's a testament to how memorable our experience was. My son had pasta with shrimp that was drowning in oil; My husband had the Quinoa salad that was boring and tasteless and came with raspberry vinaigrette dressing that was mostly oil; I had the seafood salad with tasteless pieces of calamari, octopus, and shrimp, with the same awful raspberry vinaigrette dressing.
