    Redfish Grill

This is a great gem as it is the first Broken Egg in the Another Broken Egg chain. It has since been sold and turned into a to LA Lou. It still has the ambience, great food and service that we expect. I had the redfish Benedict and it was delicious. My husband had the redfish grille. He said it was really good. Our server Jenny was friendly and personable. We had morning cocktails and they were just as delicious! Highly recommend!!

We dinned here last month for the first time and it was one of the best places we ate at in the Mandeville area. We got there before the rush thank goodness, since I am not sure they take reservations or not, this place does get pretty packed. And now I know why. I have to give props to the hostess; she did an incredible job and she used old school tools like paper and pen to keep track of everyone. Anyway, after a brief 15-minute wait and watching incredible looking dishes walk past our noses, we were seated. I knew right away what I wanted. I ordered the smothered brie as an app. The hubs ordered the pancakes, and I ordered the grilled chicken strawberry salad. The smothered brie is literally Fall flavors on a plate. I felt like I was at Thanksgiving dinner and I loved it! Brie + honey + pecans + apples in a rich sauce to dip your bread into is my kind of dish! I felt like I needed a hot toddy to go with it. When entrees came out, I wasn't sure it could top that app, but it did. Those pancakes though! There was something about them, addictive! There was a crispiness on the edges, it wasn't burnt, but crispy and full of the sugary addictive flavor that I kept going back for more. I know you say a pancake is a pancake, but these were different and I haven't stopped talking about them. Then that salad, ok, it's hard to sell a salad but this one is really good. Fresh ingredients, delicious dressing, and huge. I could only eat half. I have not eaten that much on the North Shore, but this is for sure, one the best!

Fun brunch spot for a filling Louisiana breakfast. We started with a Bloody Mary and Poinsettia mimosa. If you want a showstopper, get the Bloody Mary. It came full-on Southern-style with a slice of celery and carrot, crisp bacon, lemon and lime wedges, and two blue cheese olives. After tasting the Mary, the poinsettia mimosa was bland and barely cool. We then splashed out with the pimiento cheese and biscuit platter. I thought the prosciutto that was mentioned would be sliced on the side. I noticed it was served that way at the next table. Our platter ended up being a plate and minus the prosciutto, it was just okay. Next, we split the Crab Cake Napoleon. If you're from out of town, get ready for a big meal with this one. Everyone loves it and in my opinion, it really represents Louisiana cuisine. There's a blue crab cake on top of a grit cake and it's smothered with a shrimp cream sauce that is just beautiful. Good luck eating it all. After that, we elected not to have dessert but a sample of their blueberry goat cheese pancakes. If you like pancakes, you'll love how fluffy these are. Service was great but I would expect to wait since it's well situated along the lakefront.

We had just a short walk from our place and we were impressed. Great service and great food. We did not know that we were going to get so much food. The stuffed pancake was amazing and my omelette was very tasty also. We finished only half of each so they were still excellent for breakfast the next day. We also stopped in again before we left the area for home. This time we shared a meal and had plenty to eat.

This place is so delicious! Perfect location if you want to walk around after on the lakefront! Breakfast is phenomenal! The vibe is amazing and every single time I've been here it's been such a good experience!

Nice understated Northshore ambiance at LaLou in Mandeville.

Visited LaLou in Mandeville this morning for a late breakfast with my wife and enjoyed it. LaLou is pleasantly situated in a vintage house a couple of blocks off the lakefront and exudes a certain Southern harm. Service was friendly and welcoming, although a little slow. I had the eggs, biscuit and gravy with special LaLou grits and my wife had pancakes. All were good. With a very good breakfast and lunch menu, LaLou is worth a visit.

We were 4 that arrived at La Lou. This is a quaint home that was converted to serve breakfast/brunch. And wow, it was fantastic. They do not hold back on the appropriate veggies for the Bloody Mary. Our daughter in law ordered pancakes. It filled the dish where you couldn't even see the plate. Not being too hungry I ordered a cup of yogurt with fruit. It was mostly fruit mixed with yogurt. On the side they served a warm muffin consisting of chocolate and cappuccino - Wow. We strongly recommend this restaurant.

Amazing food! We had to come to breakfast twice because it was so wonderful. Cozy, intimate nooks or outdoors tables-every seat you feel like a winner. Great service both days for breakfast! Visit this charming spot in Historic Mandeville for a taste of Southern.

Never got to eat there. The hostess was rude and we left. Probably explains the current ratings. Hopefully they fix their attitude problems.

Love the huge menu choices but hands down the best pancakes, hard to choose between the ricotta lemon or the goat cheese blueberry!

Some of the worst service in the Northshore area. Food was marginal except the potatoes which were good.

Let me start by saying that I have NEVER left a bad review before, but I was genuinely shocked by…read morehow my 3-year-old and I were treated during our visit. The most concerning issue was that the waitress brought my child a cup of milk that was clearly spoiled. The milk had large curdled clumps, a watery separation, a thick and slimy texture, and a strong sour smell. I kindly asked her to take it back and did not even request a replacement. Her only response was being visibly annoyed and offended by me asking that. Bear in mind that this came after several other issues with this server. We waited about 10 minutes for silverware, during which time my child ate most of his meal with his hands and my food became cold. During all that time, she was waking past us bringing other people silverware and replenishing their drinks, and engaging in casual chat with customers. Three items we ordered were never brought out, and I had to ask for each one separately and repeatedly. When I asked about the French fries she never brought out, she gave me dismissive response that they were included in our meal, and then visually inspected our plates to confirm they were not there. She then brought out a plate of cold, dry fries and placed it on the table without saying a word. The entire experience felt surreal! If owners are reading this, we visited on Saturday, 1/10/26 and were seated in the booth area. I do want to note that the tall girl at the front desk was incredibly kind, and I truly appreciated her for how sweet she was. Our negative experience was solely related to the girl who served us.
