This updated review is totally based on a custom order request. We had an upcoming photo shoot where we needed two dozen very classic looking donuts. We called ahead of time and worked it out where they would have multicolored sprinkles because the donut was all about looks for this event. Thankfully I happened to ask if the sprinkles were multicolored and we were advised it would be holiday. I clarified my request, she talked to the manager, and confirmed they could do multicolored. We stressed multiple times this was all about looks for the photo shoot. When we went to pick up the day of the event in the morning the donuts had Halloween sprinkles on them, mind you this was in December. When I pointed out the mistake I was advised they don't have any multicolored sprinkles and there was no other option. They never should have taken the order according to the sales associate. I was so disappointed because we really didn't have time to order from another venue. Thankfully we thought of other places in the area and Donut Run stepped up and was able to provide what we needed in an hour turnaround. I had no idea multicolored sprinkles was going to be such a difficult request. I wish they would have told me up front so we would have been prepared to go to another store. read more

We used to get LaMars in KC. And later in Lee's Summit when they opened there. After moving to Omaha we were thrilled when they opened up on Maple@Eagle Run...And would drive up there to get them. Very sad when that location closed... but thrilled when they opened this new location off of Harrison. Is safe to say these are the largest donuts most people will ever see. They are also among the very best. There is really only one other real donut shop in town. However since LaMars is practically by our house... that's my family's usual choice. Old fashioned, glazed, lemon, jelly, cinnamon... all these are excellent but the favorite is always the chocolate frosted fluff bar. Heaven. read more

We ordered a dozen assorted on our first visit in order to try a wide variety and left fairly impressed. With the exception of the devil's food (which was dry) the donuts were fantastic. The apple fritter and twist were enormous too. The coffee though is just ok. We ordered 2 - the dark roast tasted burnt and the caramel macchiatto was a little weak and lacking in caramely-ness. Don't order here! I wanted something quick and easy for breakfast so I ordered a dozen donuts, a frappe, and 2 breakfast burritos. First of all, there breakfast burritos are just frozen ones you buy at Walmart for .50 - $1, and when they got here in the wrapper they were soggy and wet in the package! And they're selling them for $5 a piece. Now I know why they don't include photos. The donuts are also very small for how much they charge for a dozen. My friend took me here for the first time yesterday. We were greeted when we walked in and the staff let us know they'd be right with us. They were kind and courteous. Hands down my new favorite place to go for donuts. I got a glazed and a Bavarian cream. I savored every bite of my glazed donut. I'm always a little skeptical with the cream donuts (sometimes there's like no cream!) but this Bavarian cream has PLENTY of it. It was just perfect. Next time I go I'll be trying the coffee but as for the donuts they are DELICIOUS. read more

It's just ok. Workers friendly super expensive I think maybe 4.00 for a long jelly and a bit less for regular donuts. I know we got 4 and it was almost 12.00. I went on a Saturday so there was about a half an hour + wait inside and the drive through was packed. I was told for a good selection come at 4am! 5am. Which will never happen. I'm thinking if you don't like LaMars doughnuts, you probably aren't thrilled with doughnuts in general. As for me, I'm not a big fan of many types of doughnuts. I like a good glazed doughnut. Back in the day, Mr. Donut/Dunkin Donuts was the best in town, but those days are long over. Since then, we haven't had a decent glazed doughnut 'til now. LaMars has, quite simply, the best glazed doughnut I've ever had. Not a soaking grease-bomb like Krispy Kreme. Not dry and flavorless like Winchell's. Not mushy like the grocery doughnuts. Big, thick, just a bit chewy, with a light glaze, sweet but not too sweet. Yum. The fruit-filled doughnuts are equally good if you ask my wife, who adores the lemon variety. Even the cake doughnuts, not my usual favorite, are nice. And the best news is, unlike the stores in Lincoln, this location stays open 'til 7! read more

There are two absolute must haves in my life: good Mexican food and a solid donut joint. We recently moved to Omaha and are currently on the lookout for both. When we asked our neighbors about donuts, they all said one thing: LaMar's. So on a recent Wednesday morning while putting off unpacking, I stopped in to get donuts for the family. As others have said, the parking lot is fairly tight and was full, even on a weekday morning. So, be patient and prepared. Once I stepped into the shop, I was pleasantly surprised at the selection of donuts. They had cake and yeast donuts of many varieties. We chose long johns, glazed, a cinnamon roll the size of a large plate, and a couple of cake donuts. The cake donuts weren't great but everything else was fresh and delicious. The dozen was $15.99 but given the size and quality of the cinnamon rolls and long johns, that's reasonable. The coffee was average, like from a convenience store. I wouldn't rush back for a cup of joe. Overall, LaMar's donuts are as good as it gets. We loved them (well, not the cake). The other stuff (e.g., parking, coffee) keep it from being a full five star experience. But if you want excellent donuts, check this place out. read more

Forgive me father for I have sinned, I went to another donut shop. I was out west and saw this place so I thought I would try it. The girls at the counter were nice cordial however 2 donuts and coffee was close to $10.00......as she had told me the price, I could not believe it. Let's be honest, if you live out west, the drive to the bakery on 10th Street next to Cascios is well worth the trip...donuts are with good, better than some of the best. The 10th Street are the best with these just being good. If you need a dozen donuts that are the best in town, take a drive and for your ten spot, you can pick up a dozen. read more

When I walked in an employee was mopping the floor and on quick surveillance he seemed to be the only employee working. I thought to myself, please don't let this dude go from mopping the floor to waiting on me with no hand washing in between. Sure enough he saw me, stepped behind the counter, grabbed a paper napkin, and said, "how may I help you". I politely asked him to wash his hands and he politely obliged. I ordered an Apple Fritter, Cinnamon Pecan Fritter and a long stuffed Chocolate Icing thingie. Let me just say the reviews are spot on! My wife and I tried the cinnamon pecan fritter and we both agree it was one of the best we've ever eaten PERIOD! BTW, I was gonna mention the guy by name but he appeared to be a young kid. He was very polite and washed his hands when asked. That's all you can ask for so there's no need to put him on blast via Yelp. read more

Did my research and tried to find the best donuts in the area. My first donut was the original glazed and I thought it was too doughy for my liking. I did enjoy it because it wasn't overly sweet. My next donut was the French Crueler. This is by far my favorite type of donut and LaMars did not disappoint. It was extremely light, and soft, and was deliciousness with every bite. Hand down my favorite donut I had that day. Finally, the last donut was the Bavarian Creme filled long john covered in chocolate. Wasn't the best, but I still finished the entire donut which must mean it wasn't crazy bad. Just picked up an order that I placed on-line. Not a successful transaction. Order wasn't ready even though I was almost 20 minutes later than requested pick-up time. I understood why when I pulled in intending to use the drive-through and there were 9 cars in front of me. Decided to walk-in. One young man, who was busting it and doing amazing was the only one working the drive through, filling orders, making coffees, answering phones, etc. One young lady was working the counter, which was busy enough because of the people who decided to walk-in rather than wait in a very long line of cars. Order was finally packed but when I arrived at work and saw the mess well, wasn't really worth the $40 dollars for the 3 dozen donuts and the half hour drive to get them. Chocolate glazed were stuck to the lid and most of the glaze came off of 6 of them. Didn't toss box around, carried it flat with the other two. Cinnamon sugar I think I was told wasn't really on the menu but someone fixed them for me. They looked rather shriveled and the cinnamon sugar was not really visible, some grains of white sugar could be seen on the donut. Kudos to the two young people working, especially the young man. He was rocking it and I assume dealing with some rather irate people for the long wait, but he never missed a step and was always very cordial. The young lady the same. My main question about all of this is WHERE THE HELL IS THE MANAGEMENT? To have only two young people working at this time - 7:30AM - was bad management at best and just stupid otherwise. Honestly, LaMar's has some of the best donuts around. I specially love their plain glazed donut. This is my first time coming here to get donuts. Usually one of my coworkers brings them in, and I love them. Coming in today they only had cake donuts. No donuts other than cake donuts. Stopped in this morning (08.08.19) about 7:30. There was one person at the corner finishing up and the drive-thru and empty. While I waited, I noticed 3 employees standing at the drive-thru window talking and on their cell phones. Another employee with a headset had finished with a customer, looked at me several times then went about checking coffee and other things. So essentially 1 person helping a customer and 4 others ignoring the only customer left (myself.) After several minutes another employee possibly returning from the bathroom, arrived and asked if I could be help. I believe her name was Emily (short, very dark hair, tattoos). Finally someone who cares about taking care of people. Normally, there aren't enough people at this location to help. Today there were plenty and I still had to wait (thank you Emily for taking my order!) Do 4 people really need to be watching over the drive-thru? Seems a bit unreasonable, but I'm pretty sure they aren't being paid to play with their phones. This is not an isolated incident. They are often understaffed and their holy grail for attention is the drive-thru. I've often seen a single person working a long line at the counter while 3 people focus all their attention on the drive-thru. I guess the customers in the store don't spend as much money as the coffee and donut drive-in customer. On known busy days (Friday morning when kids are buying for schools, Saturdays, and Sundays) the line inside can reach back to the doors and you can spend 15 minutes waiting to be served while countless people flow quickly through the drive-thru. Can't tell you how many times I or other customers have opened the door, taken one look at the line and left. Their donuts over all can range from very good to so-so. Sometimes the frosting can be thin and runny, other days, awesome. No consistency. read more

Calling Lamars the best donuts in town really isn't saying much, considering the other options. Still, the quality and selection are terrific and it's well worth the epic drive. Other folks have complained about the bad service. Never had that. The only delay we've experienced has been indecision on the part of patrons and I can't really blame them for that.
