We ate in the brewery behind the restaurant (there's a cool service window to the back kitchen behind the bar!), and I could not possibly have expected the meal we enjoyed. As I mentioned, the catfish sandwich was lovely, soft fish encased in a light frying batter that was just deliciously spiced. The cornbread is absolutely not to be missed, it is thick and moist. The servings are generous and you will feel fulfilled at the end of your meal. My wife had the honey BBQ wings, and when you get the option, have these baked, not fried. I'm sure the fried wings are lovely, but the baked is cooked so tenderly that the meat was just falling off the bone into the sweet sauce below (which you should dip your cornbread in). Don't forget to ask for some house secret sauce for your food. I'm fairly certain you could put it on anything and it will become even more irresistible than it seems when you first smell the aromas wafting up from your dish. I have two regrets. I didn't take any pictures of my food, and I don't have a second stomach. Get yourself here as soon as you can, bring an empty stomach and an open heart. The staff is so kind and the owner is a joy of a woman that serves up her smile and kindness as much as she serves up a filling meal. I will be making sure to get back here soon so I can explore the menu more.

To start, we shared the crispy brussel sprouts Charleston style. These were delicious with the tangy sauce and large flakes of parmesan cheese. For my main, I had the brunch wrap. It comes with chips, but I swapped for fries for an additional charge. The wrap was a good size; I had half and saved the rest for leftovers. It was tasty, but not a ton of flavor. The tater tots were nice and crispy and I enjoyed the fresh tomatoes and avocado. They gave me a huge portion of crinkle cut fries, which also would've been great with a little more seasoning, but they were good when dipped in mayo. My husband got the shrimp and grits and appreciated the large portion size as well. I had a lemonade to drink. It was refreshing since it wasn't overly sweet. Service was great. I look forward to trying the rest of the menu!

Aesthetically, each table feels like a meal at a family dinner table; it's clear that they wanted that vibe to be translated, and it's done quite well. This is also supported by the service being very friendly and helpful in general. To eat, I had the French toast burger with sweet potato fries. Some others with me had various sides like regular fries and tater tots, and the same thing was present on them that tends not to be at most places: they were all perfectly salted/seasoned. It might seem immaterial, but it's a very good signal when something that simple--yet often neglected in favor of just using condiments to mask it--is executed well. If you're a burger place with fries that taste great without the need for a sauce or condiment, you're doing something right. The French toast burger was likewise fantastic, combining sweet and savory in a great way. To drink, we all got a communal pitcher of the only frozie they had available at the time: a kind of jungle juice vodka slushie. It, too, was great--worthy of multiple rounds. All in all, here's a place that I can't wait to give another visit.

Because they literally go together. The Mac is cheesy and cooked exactly how I want it to taste. It sticks together and is never burnt on top. But I have tried the potato salad (a hit for sure), collard greens (seasoned to perfection), and the sweet potato fries (which I don't like, because I don't really care for a sweet potato fry. But they are steak cut and glazed with a sweet yet light glaze). As for the meats: I've had the fried catfish, catfish bites, beef ribs, fried chicken breast, baked chicken breast, fried chicken wings (BBQ & Jerk), and the salmon, crabcakes, and the ultimate feast. Oh and I've had their chicken strips. By far my favorite and frequently ordered are the catfish bites and chicken strips. Just know that this restaurant used to be a sit down intimate spot with a catering hall a few doors down. But since CoVid, it has become solely takeout and delivery by the apps. So, you won't get a full dining experience and will have to pay for a certain kind of packaging. For instance, if you don't want your food to touch or leak into other food the. Order separate packages and they will do it. This place has iced tea and lemonade that are divine. The customer service not be the absolute best if you walk in. Typically, I order the chicken poppers and a side of rasta pasta. The chicken poppers are always and I mean ALWAYS cooked perfectly. They are basically smaller versions of chicken tenders. Whenever they arrive to me, they're fried crispy and hot, then tossed it whatever sauce I request. I usually get the honey BBQ sauce but lately I've been testing others and baybeeeee, they have a nice selection! I fell in love with the honey garlic sauce. Whenever I receive my food, it melts nicely onto the chicken, making it sticky sweet. Now, the rasta pasta could use some work. The first time I got it, it was very greasy and lacked flavor. It almost tased like a hot pasta salad, the kind you would get at a cookout or deli. The next time I ordered it, it was perfect. It had a subtle creaminess to it with perfectly cooked bell peppers and a subtle jerk seasoning or something close to it. Third time I ordered it, it was back to subpar. I'll still order it, in hopes that its just as good as that second time. On another note, I've had the mac n' cheese with oxtail. I wasn't a huge fan of the mac n' cheese. It was creamy but there was no pull to the cheese, which I prefer, therefore it kind of fell flat to me. The oxtail however, was heavenly. Very tender with delicious flavor. I also liked that they offer it off the bone. Finally, I would pass on their french fries. They are regular pre-frozen fries, nothing spectacular. Overall, if you are looking for a delicious Caribbean-American fusion, fast-casual restaurant, the sauce-boss wins! Highly recommended.

I was deciding between the turkey salad and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta from the lunch specials and asked our server how the chicken salad was, She said it was her favorite and that it was a lot of people's go-to, so I decided to order that. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Heritage Nachos, Loaded Tater Tot Skillet, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta. The nachos weren't really for me (I didn't love the type of chips used), but the tots were good and my boyfriend liked his cheesesteak. I absolutely loved the chicken salad sandwich and fries. I get a little fixated on foods I like, so I had honestly been craving that sandwich ever since. 3/14 SECOND VISIT: I decided to come back on March 14 specifically hoping to order the chicken salad sandwich again. It was much busier due to St. Patrick's weekend,I was alone, I was seated in a booth in the back. I was given the dinner menu, so I asked the server about the chicken salad sandwich I had previously ordered. She didn't recognize the sandwich but offered to ask the kitchen after I showed her a photo and the menu from my previous visit. Unfortunately she came back and said they couldn't make it. She suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, but I declined since I'm not really a fan of grilled chicken. I ended up ordering the turkey sandwich and asked for a few modifications (no stuffing or cranberry mayo, just regular mayo on a ciabatta). When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn't turkey. I waited until the server came back and asked her to confirm what meat was on the sandwich. She initially told me it was turkey. After taking it apart & having a few bites I knew it wasn't turkey. I winded up eating the fries and asking for the bill. I decided to show her the inside of the sandwich again and asked her to double check with the kitchen, she returned and confirmed it was actually ham, even though the ticket showed that she ordered turkey. She did offer to remake the sandwich, but it would have taken another 10-15 minutes and at that point I was already over it. I ended up just paying, and leaving. I completely understand that menus change and servers can't memorize every item. I just wish the sandwich had been confirmed with the kitchen sooner when I questioned it the first time. Overall, my first visit was great, and that chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. I just wish the second visit had gone a little smoother.

To make matters worse, one person in our group didn't receive his meal until everyone else had already finished eating. The owner stopped by and casually explained that this "sometimes happens on busy days," and offered us drinks for the inconvenience--but we were still charged for them at the end. When we brought this up to our server, she claimed she wasn't aware of the offer, and we ended up paying full price for everything. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, with very poor customer service.

All true, but that's the issue. She can make good food, but it is not in any way shape nor form worth the terrible attitude that comes with it, she is not doing anyone a favor by having a business and I think she should just go back to selling bagged meals from her project like she used to do. I screenshot the messages SHE initiated and sent to ME through yelp and they removed them probably because of HER language, I only responded with foul language to combat her own. In one message to me she bragged about still being on welfare because that makes her smart (I blame trump for making fraud acceptable) $151 for a 5 bedroom townhouse she says and "dumb dumbs wish they were as smart as me" she says in one message. I don't think it's much of a flex to be bragging about how you work the system, and it gives talking points to evil republicans who want to take it away from those who really do need and depend on a social safety net. The owners criminal is extensive but has been keeping her nose clean for the past few years save the acknowledged fraud. I imagine running your business in the red every year is one way to stay on welfare and not have to be responsible. I was in one day when either the owner or her man's car was getting hooked up by the truck of repossession agent and oh lord have mercy was that a show to be seen!! I only wish I had the recording of it still but it was so long ago I don't want to look it up. TBH if she would just cook and avoid customer services altogether the place wouldn't be a place where I don't want to spend my money because of the type of person it goes to.. Remember the famous Seinfeld episode with a guy who made amazing soups but was so rude and ran it like a camp? Well this is the exact same thing but with soul food. It's like a prison canteen but with good food and the owner is the lady warden to prepare your food but ensure you don't enjoy eating it. The biggest mistake anyone can make here is going in with intention of exchanging money for prepared food
