    Pad Thai lunch special
    Breanne R.

I recently dined in at Lamoon for the first time (I typically have it delivered). I was eager to try their lunch specials because not many places have affordable specials anymore! Service was fine, nothing special, but the food was delicious! I ordered the pad thai, which came with 2 spring rolls and a salad for only about $14! The Pad Thai was moist, which in my opinion, can make or break the dish. The spring rolls also tasted fresh. I enjoyed them better than I have their other apps. I am not a fan of their veggie dumplings or their crab rangoon, but the entrees have not disappointed me yet!

Look at this cute sign you can take a picture in front of!!

This is definitely a hidden gem Thai spot. The interior is so cute and we so fun for a date night or a dinner with friends. It is definitely themed and a place to take cute pictures. Their portions are huge and price is reasonable and the food is always fresh and taste delicious. Definitely stopping here when I'm in Silver Spring because it is a great spot.

doesn't even deserve one star. i asked the staff a few questions and they kept telling me "one second" and left me waiting. they didn't even answer me for 10 minutes. their attitude was terrible and they never even smiled.

    Tom Yum Soup

So tasty and affordable! I got the Tom Yum soup and it was delicious. My friend liked his meal too. The only thing I will say is that there is one server working. He forgot my drink even though I asked for it twice and I never received it. It's mainly ideal for carry out. Still a tasty spot though!

I don't understand why my cashew chicken doesn't have brown sauce. Why would you send this to a client?

Came by for my Too Good To Go (excellent app to reduce food waste and eat out for cheap) which was easy to order ahead of the time through the app. Restaurant was casual with plenty of space. Fun decor with tropical flower themes and also lots of cats. The servers put together my bowl with fresh rice, chicken, and vegetables quickly. I street parked in front of the restaurant with no issue. Food was delicious and flavorful. One thing to note is there's no option to customize the food if you purchase through TGTG since they provide whatever is available on surplus that day. I did find my food to be quite spicy, but the flavors made it worthwhile.

I ordered take-out a day before, and pick-up was pretty smooth. The food was ready on time, and the friendly server brought it to me right away. Finding street parking would be a bit difficult as this street is always busy and congested. The portion was reasonable, considering the price. I haven't seen duck curry at other Thai places so I decided to try. It was flavorful and interesting, but the rice was pretty dry. Spring rolls were small like lumpia, fresh and crispy. The filling was okay, but I tasted more under-seasoned cellophane noodles. The shrimp and pork wontons in the soup were great, but the soup was significantly under seasoned. As other reviews are relatively positive, I expected better meals; however, my choices were inconsistent and didn't bring me a great impression.

    Mamas Crab Rangoon

I ordered delivery here through door dash this past weekend. I ordered the drunken noodles and the crab Rangoon spring rolls. The crab Rangoon spring rolls were very good. The filling is very yummy with a hint of old bay to make it a real DMV appetizer. The drunken noodles were good, however, fair warning, they are SPICY! I am not a weakling in terms of spice and always ask they keep the normal spice on my noodles but their normal was extra spicy! I loved the flavor but it was so spicy I couldn't fully enjoy it. So if you order it and want a medium spicy I say definitely make sure you put that in the request. But if you love extra spicy then these are for you! Despite the noodles being extremely spicy, I'd order from them again. The flavors were still very good. I just know which spice level to specify now!

Terrific Thai in downtown Silver Spring! Thanks to Groupon, Lamoon Thai was my destination for lunch yesterday with a friend. We both were very pleased with our meals - and dismayed to see few other patrons in the restaurant - so I wanted to share our positive experience. We both chose the lunch special, which includes soup or another appetizer, main course, and a beverage (soda, or Thai iced tea or coffee) - all for $12. I really enjoyed each element of my meal - the main course (crispy duck with steamed broccoli) and the soup (tom yum chicken) were cooked as expected and had good flavor. My friend tried the pad Thai and tom yum soup. She gave both a thumbs up!! I asked for the sweet-spicy tamarind sauce on the side for the duck because I like it crispy and not soggy. The chef hooked it up just right. No complaints on either dish. The Thai iced tea was creamy, not overly sweet....more like refreshing and invigorating....well highly caffeinated!! lol. Further, the portions were quite generous - we both brought half our food back home - and the server was highly attentive and pleasant. In all, great food, customer service and experience. I'll definitely be visit again!

We got Drunken noodles with chicken and Red curry with rice. Both are very good. Jasmine rice is cooked perfect and is flavorful. A lot of Thai restaurants tend to over cook chicken but not this one. It's soft and tender. I loved the burst of flavor from basil. Parking in the area can be tricky.

Great Thai Style Calamari and curries. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had. Try their chicken or pork sticks too.

Food was very well spiced and served. Heat where it was needed and noodles chewy. The broth was tasty too! Going to go back!

I had high hopes since the menu includes intestines and other items that clearly are not meant for white customers. I am very happy to have a very tasty Chinese restaurant close to me. Dry pork noodles: These were the best IMO. Nice and spicy, with great flavors all around. I suggest getting the pork chop (add on) since there is not a lot of meat that comes with the dish normally. Beef noodle soup: Tasted very authentic and had a great broth. Thin slices of beef reminded me of real Chinese noodle soups. Spicy dry chicken noodles; Very similar to the pork noodles. What I really enjoy is that these are actually spicy dishes! I never had to add chili sauce!! Pork and chive dumplings: These were solid. The sesame dipping sauce is fine, but a mixture of Chinese vinegar (you rarely find this!) and chili sauce are good compliments. Cucumbers: These were more garlic-y then what I had in China, but are still good. Adding a little Chinese vinegar to them really takes them up a notch.

Total (not including tip) came out to approximately $49. What's Hot - Menu. Excellent. It's also written in Chinese in addition to English. For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.
