Dry pork noodles: These were the best IMO. Nice and spicy, with great flavors all around. I suggest getting the pork chop (add on) since there is not a lot of meat that comes with the dish normally. Beef noodle soup: Tasted very authentic and had a great broth. Thin slices of beef reminded me of real Chinese noodle soups. Spicy dry chicken noodles; Very similar to the pork noodles. What I really enjoy is that these are actually spicy dishes! I never had to add chili sauce!! Pork and chive dumplings: These were solid. The sesame dipping sauce is fine, but a mixture of Chinese vinegar (you rarely find this!) and chili sauce are good compliments. Cucumbers: These were more garlic-y then what I had in China, but are still good. Adding a little Chinese vinegar to them really takes them up a notch.

For those of us familiar with traditional ethnic Chinese food, a menu written in Chinese is a good sign. They have traditional Taiwanese and Chinese food like scallion pancakes, sesame balls, beef noodle soup, soup dumplings, etc... Very good variety and there appears to be something for everyone, possibly with the exception of vegan dishes.. - Quality. Pretty good. Their scallion pancake was soft, not too oily, and not too salty. I prefer the scallion pancake to have been a bit more thick and flaky, but that's my personal preference. To be fair, still delicious. Their chive and pork dumplings definitely had a delicious chive flavor. Substantial and the wrapper was not too thick. Their spicy sesame paste tofu had a good flavor and substantive. The chili oil wontons were not too spicy and had a good flavor. Again, my personal preference would have been for the dumplings to have been more substantive, but still pretty decent. - Service. Pretty good. It appears most, if not all their staffers, speak Chinese (Mandarin), which was also helpful, because I specifically ordered in Chinese. I asked them about the spice level, because I wanted to ensure it would not be too spicy for my friend. - Price. Pretty good value for menu and portions. - Location. It's pretty easy to find. Also within convenient walking distance to the Silver Spring metro. The inside space is pretty good. Tables can seat a minimum of 2, all the way up to 8. What's Not - Quality. The sesame balls are smaller than I expected. They're the rough approximation of a ping pong ball, maybe smaller. I was disappointed, because I like sesame balls that are substantial. - Service. I specifically asked for soup spoons, because we were eating dumplings. Instead, they gave me regular spoons. Not all the dishes come out in the order you hope. For example, main dishes may come out before the appetizers. This is going to be dependent on your personal preference. - Parking. There is parking near the restaurant, but it's going to be dependent on the day and time. Final Answer Worth coming back.

been a long time fan of the old silver spring market and now lamoon thai. was there is wknd but unfortunately noticed the portions are drastically different. this may have been a mistake, but didn't get my money's worth. the pad thai ordered i typically can share but this go round we should have order two. the order was placed in the top of the to go container and not filled. so it was roughly a third of the portion. still like this authentic thai restaurant, but will have to check my to go orders before leaving and will see if the portions continue to change. took a pic of the portion. read more

Not sure how this place has 4 stars, the food is pretty bad and the staff is aloof. They forgot the rice with my curry order, then said they don't serve rice with curry...umm, false. The veggies were raw as opposed to cooked with the curry, so they obviously just tossed them in after the fact. The veggie gyoza was WAY overcooked...burnt to a crisp and inedible. I ordered Hot and Sour soup (my bellwether for Chinese restaurants) and beef chow fun. The soup was flavorful without being overpowering, and the chow fun was delicious too. I liked everything so much that I ordered another soup and Thai Basil with Chicken to go, and that's been my lunch for the past couple of days. Don't be put off by the seediness of its location. Fried rice usually cost more when there's meat in it but it's hard to find places that make egg fried rice and sell it this cheap. I've also never gotten eggshell in it. Many other places I've tried have given me eggshell at one point. Moo shi beef $12.50 - (I don't have any experience with Moo shi, so take this with a grain of salt) it was a bit salty and oily, but it wasn't terrible. It is basically shredded beef and vegetables with very thin square pancakes to eat it from and hoisin sauce as a condiment. As I said it wasn't terrible, but I don't think I'll get it again anytime soon. Beef and scallop Hunan style (spicy) $14.35- I had never had this either prior to last night's order. It is basically, beef, scallops, and vegetables like baby corn, onions, bell peppers, broccoli, and carrots and a thick savory brown sauce. I found it tasted very good. Two complaints about this item. What I received was not spicy (that least to my liking) and there were not very many scallops (the ones I got tasted very good). But this is probably the best item I've had on the menu that wasn't fried.I was very impressed by this. I'll probably start ordering it more with my other regular items. Other items I would recommend that I didn't get in last night's order but Will vouch for- -chicken wings -crispy beef -pu pu platter -fried cheese wonton -rib tips (just do not get the "steak and cheese egg roll" they will send you a regular egg roll and pretend that it's a steak and cheese egg roll. Even after you tell them, there's no tea in it and it's filled with cabbage.
