This was a good coffee/breakfast spot! We liked the variety of offerings, especially the amount of vegan and GF food. The outdoor seating was great as well. It was busy, but worth hanging out for a bit!

Very few spots in the city seem to offer vegan breakfast before 9am and Lamplighter is one! They actually have various vegan options to choose from for breakfast (bagels or burritos). The vegan breakfast burrito was very filling with potatoes, beans, tofu scramble, avocado, and vegan sour cream. The slammer bagel sandwich is vegan cream cheese, vegan breakfast sausage with maple sriracha sauce. They also had vegan banana bread on the counter for grab and go! I don't drink coffee but my dad said it was good, and I can say the matcha latte was one of the better ones I've tried in RVA. No up charge for oat milk either, so that's a win! Tiny parking lot, which sets it apart from many other shops in the city. Indoor and outdoor seating (mostly outdoor). It was clean and cute inside. The food came out pretty fast. I wish everything hadn't been served to go style though (even after I asked for my matcha in a regular mug, of which they had plenty). I would definitely come back to try their other vegan goodies.

Clearly a local favorite coffee and breakfast shop, given that nearly everyone walked here (like we did), and I can see why. Efficient counter service with a classy hole-in-the-wall vibe. Coffee options are plenty, and mine was delicious. The Muna, yogurt parfait, and blueberry muffin were excellent. Many vegan options too.

I love a good coffee shop and lamplighter didn't disappoint. I had the Thia coffee it was so creamy and delicious. The staff was so pleasant and their menu offers a wide variety of coffee options and delicious food. They have a lox bagel that I must go back and try. They offer outside patio dining and the line was proof that this spot is a neighborhood favorite.

This is quite a busy spot ! But it's worth the wait ! I got a bagel and a chai latte. The bagel was really good; they had several options you can choose from as a vegetarian. Their coffee/drink selections were pretty good too and I had plenty of time during the wait to see what I wanted to get. The service was pretty quick too for how busy they were ! They've got plenty of seating around to chill while you wait and catch up with friends.

You need to get there early if you want to avoid a line and a wait. Alas, all good things are worth waiting for. I love that they have gluten free bagels and they have things for people with food allergies. The food is fresh and it's always packed with people and their little people or doggies. A very good place to grab breakfast to go or eat in (or out on their picnic tables). Either way, very yummy!

I stopped by today to try some coffee based on the good reviews. The barista was super friendly (5 stars for him), but I was disappointed in the limited flavors, lack of lowfat or skim milk, and only darker roast of coffees available. It seems like a great place, but it doesn't have much to my liking.

Nice spot for a coffee and some reading/working. Line was long but moved fast, and I only ordered a drip coffee. They had an 8oz size which was great! I sat inside by the front window and enjoyed a leisurely hour reading and catching up on some work. There's outdoor seating too but it was a bit chilly for me. I can see why this was recommended to me!

Lovely service and quick hot coffees and burritos. The parking was simple and effortless just ten minute walk from the cute Carytown shops. Definitely worth a stop for a snack and a caffeine break nearby the Art Museum and several other places to explore.

This place has been on my bucket list of places to try for what feels like forever. I'm happy to report it was worth the wait. Lamplighter is busy street corner with a tiny little parking lot in front. They have a separate entrance for you to place your order. When you place your order they ask for your name no additional order number is given. This proved to be a little confusing as there were two Jason's at the same time and they received the wrong drink. I ordered an iced lavender latte, breakfast burrito and a sweet potato muffin. Everything was really good. The breakfast burrito tasted homemade and was accompanied by a fresh salsa that was great. I will flag that this cafe is Vegan friendly as they have several vegan/ vegetarian options on the menu. Overall I really enjoyed my coffee and food and look forward to trying this place out in the future!

Perhaps I am too friendly of a critic, but I love this place! My favorite outdoor space out of any coffeeshop in Richmond so far with plenty of seating and appreciate its dog-friendlyness. Everything just flows well from the place in which you order into the seating area and the baristas were all super friendly. Just an overall fun vibe that feels very "coffee-shop." Cute interior with plenty of awesome merchandise options and great looking pastries - loved my americano :) will most definitely be returning here throughout the rest of my time in Richmond!

I found the location a bit weird being at the corner of Addison and tucked near the highway. Since my hotel didn't have coffee available, you gotta find caffeine somewhere that isn't Starbucks. Trekking all the way from Monroe Park, I finally found the spot and sauntered in. Chai Tea Latte, might sound basic but this one was unique. Ordered chilled on this hot day, every sip was soothing. And the smaller the sips, the better flavor you get. They did take a while to make my drink (around 8 minutes) but there was a line in front and they likely put a lot of care into their coffee/barista concoctions. Of course they have breakfast items too, since what else would you pair your coffee with? There's some outside seating and fewer inside seating so you're most likely getting to go here and then going about your day. Also the person taking my order sounded sweet which is better than someone being lackadaisical or irritated.

If you're like me - and wanting to try a bit of everything - the Breakfast Combo is the way to go. The Egg Silsi is like a perfectly mild Shakshuka, and the Kinche and FirFir along with made for a wonderful infusion of flavors, textures, and savory spices that were unlike anything I have ever had for breakfast before. Everything went beautifully with the spongey goodness of the Injera. Ethiopian flavors are just so... cool. I don't know how else to describe it but this just hit different. Plus, a reliable cup of home-brewed coffee? Say less.

Coffee/tea options? Two thumbs up. Food? Outstanding. Seriously, I loved it from start to finish. I showed up on a Tuesday morning with my laptop and an empty stomach. There's lots of seating inside (with great natural light throughout, it's just such a warm, cozy space), and a few tables outside as well. I ordered the Keshir team (ginger, orange juice, and honey), which totally hit the spot. I could not resist the breakfast combo, which comes with egg silsi (scrambled eggs in tomato sauce with onion), kinche (bulgur cooked and tossed with yellow onion and clarified butter and topped with jalapenos), firfir (injera sauteed in a spicy tomato sauce), and injera. I SCRAPED the plate. Everything was delicious. Just thinking about it now, I wish there was a Buna Kurs in Baltimore, so I could eat this for breakfast once a week. One of the best breakfasts I've had this year. No joke. I love Ethiopian food, and I am so jealous that Richmond has an Ethiopian cafe. Ethiopian for breakfast?! A dream. It doesn't hurt that the service and ambiance are also great. Easy street parking to boot. A great place to work. The only thing that I'd recommend to them is that a few more outlets to charge laptops or phones would be nice - so that people can work from the cafe more easily! But otherwise, Buna Kurs is pretty much perfect in my view. Dream breakfast. Great cafe. Couldn't love it more.

Upon entering, I was reminded of a 1950s pharmacy by the humongous "Prescriptions" sign hanging above the bar, and the antique furniture, bar, and barstools splayed throughout Tarrant's. There was a solid crowd at the bar; it's clear there is a regular crowd that sits and hangs out here. We were promptly seated by a young blonde woman in the dining section (behind the bar). Our server, Nadia, was an enchanting brunette, training another young server, Sierra. She took our drink orders and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, checking in after a few minutes to see if we were ready. We finally decided, my partner ordered the 10" Bianca White (pizza), and I chose the Sailor Sandwich. Unfortunately, the sailor was not in the cards for me, and Nadia suggested the Reuben as they were similar. They brought out breadsticks while we waited, and the food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the atmosphere, the old-fashioned chandeliers, the large mirror, the floral paintings, and the rustic frames, all of which added to the restaurant's stated aesthetic. The pizza was hot and savory, while the Reuben had buttery toast, crispy corned beef, and a light smattering of sauerkraut (TBH, I didn't even notice the sauerkraut). For dessert, we indulged in the upside-down walnut apple pie, served with vanilla ice cream, all made from scratch, and beautifully delicate. Our time at Tarrant's Cafe seemed like a stroll into the past; the only indication of modernity was the ordering kiosk used by the staff. We truly enjoyed our time and had deeply meaningful conversations without enduring the hustle and bustle or the rowdy cacophony of an intense crowd.
