LITEALLY OBSESSED WITH THIS PLACE and I couldn't get enough of it during my short trip here in Oregon. I kid you not, I was here for a two day road trip, and came here at least three times for food! Their food was so delicious, not too greasy, and extremely affordable. Although this place only accepts cash, the shrimp pad thai that I ordered was fresh and flavorful (super buttery)! Not only that, their thai teas are $1 each! That is literally a steal. The restaurant is also located right by a parking lot, so finding parking is super easy and convenient. Just a tip, if you happen to not have cash on you, there is a local market on the other side of the parking lot that can help you exchange for some cash (with a purchase, of course). So, once again, I go to review a beloved local spot (somehow also an Asian cuisine place ironically) and some chud is off her rocker on saying more annoying pesty things like "I lived in Thailand for 2 years". Kinda like Easter. The food here, unlike the one star review states, is actually worth its weight in gold, comes with carrots, lime and is never oily. Like Krysta, are you blind, honey? Who insulted you (other than me in the last paragraph)? I can't speak on the meat, since my delicate hot house flower of a stomach rejects meat, but the veggie options are bomb and the tofu is always well cooked. Their Pad thai rules. Best in the states. They also make a mean curry. Because this cart is only open in the summer, you'll have to catch the family while they are in town, cause unlike our little tasteless, clown shoes embodiment of a "let me speak to the manager" haircut, they actually live in Thailand. The only thing I would complain about is that there is only one shady spot to sit at but like just drive a block to the river and you get thai and river, so it's kinda like complaining about not getting limes. It's not the end of the world. I would sell a kidney to get some more pad thai. They just dont have something this good in Montreal, unfortunately (yo Thai Express, you're next, buddy. It tasted mostly of oil, and was very light on the tamarind, fish sauce, vinegar, or sugar. So it lacked the "tang" of thai cooking. Paiboon and Lampoei want to feed you. Every Spring and Summer this sweet couple from Thailand set up shop in a little trailer just off of HWY 35 behind Tum-A-Lum Lumber. On warm days you can eat in the grass or on a picnic table. I prefer to take the food back to my house. Sometimes a girl needs to be alone with her Ginger Curry Chicken. Dishes are made to order with incredible texture and unrivaled flavor. I almost feel bad about how cheap everything is. (But I'm broke and hungry, so meh.) Dishes are in the $6 - $9 range and boast portions suitable for two people. Thai iced coffee and iced tea are just a buck! They also serve up killer spring rolls, ($2) a daily curry special ($6) and soup de jour - err soup wan née. This is a great little place on the eastside of town (take the last hood river exit off I-84 going east and make a right going back toward town. It's in the natural food store parking lot). They are only open seasonally between march and november. This year they close November 16th. Their hours are Tuesday thru sunday 11am to 6pm. I was very happy with the service and food i got here. We went here based on the loads of highly positive reviews, but were disappointed. We order spring rolls, and egg roll and two versions of Pad Thai. The spring rolls were the highlight--filled with fresh, healthy ingredients with an excellent peanut dipping sauce. The egg roll was okay--nothing special, but hard to differentiate w/ an egg roll. The Pad Thai was the biggest disappointment. It wasn't for lack of quantity. The portion sizes were crazy huge--one order was an entire full size clamshell take out box. However the quality was mediocre. I've had this dish many, many times in the U.S. and Thailand. The key to great pad Thai is balancing different elements--sweet (sugar), tart (lime), salty/crunchy (peanut), sour and spicy (pepper). The version lacked these as discernible elements. I'm not saying they weren't in there somewhere, but they had congealed into an unappetizing sameness, overwhelmed by oily noodles. At any rate, if I had been out windsurfing or kiting all day and was looking for an inexpensive way to fill up, I'd put this place in the consideration set. If I were looking for authentic tasting Pad Thai, I'd keep searching. read more

I've been going to this place for years. It's a great place to stop in for a meal when you're out and about in the Gorge, and I will sometimes drive out of my way to get here. I don't know how this place has 4...... this place deserves a solid half star. With this self quarantining my GF and I decided to take a scenic drive and then enjoy some food in Hood River. Looking at the 4 star reviews I was thinking. This can't be so bad. But then again I've been spoiled by Thai Wok in Vancover and other places that are far superior to this shit hole trailer. People take notes.... if it's made in a ratty trailer the food will taste like the damn thing! The only thing I half enjoyed was the spring rolls and the sweet and sour sauce. The sauce being the best and the rolls tasting like it was re-fried in old oil. None the less I give them a pass in that regard. I got the chicken pad Thai and my GF got chicken fried rice. Both had an off taste and literally we took no more than 2 bites of each. I was also annoyed that there where no forks or napkins, even after I asked and was told they had some in the bag! It's not like it's Toilet paper and hand sanitizer these days. The food is in the back seat and I'm headed home to Thai Wok for some real food and the only reason the food is in the back seat is that my GF talked me into saving it for the dogs. Honestly this is not even good enough to be doggy food. One final note before I end this review. The peanut sauce tasted like not peanut sauce!
