Large Pizza is 16" In perspective, that's the size of the average automobile rim. The pizza isn;t too bad but flavor wise, its an upgraded version of Costco pizza. Chicken wings were amazing. The staffer recommended double fried for the extra crisp and i couldn't thank her enough. The service was beyond exquisite and everyone was kind, helpful and nice which appears rare. This place is uber family friendly with a bar and over 12 TVs. Today was awesome cause they had four games on, two local and three of them I watched. 1. Ducks playing. Won in OT against Dallas in Game 6 where they scored two goals in under 3 min or something. 2. NBA playoffs, watched most of the Nets v. Tor game and all of the Rockets v. Blazers OT win. 3. Good crust! I'm sold on this place. Of course, the pizza is marked up at Irvine prices for no apparent reason besides the location, but what are you going to do? The inside is kind of disgusting. It smells like a Chuck-E-Cheese and if you go on the wrong day of the week there are random kids running around. I went once to pick up a pizza and there was a whole middle school baskeball team in there... it was really loud. 2.5 stars We come here quite often with our running club. It certainly wouldn't be my choice, but it's good for large groups of sweaty, smelly people. Usually the place is mobbed with softball teams, little league, youth soccer, etc., so it can get very loud. They have gumball machines and video games near the restrooms, so good luck getting past all the little kids. The food is decent, and they have a variety of different pizzas, or you can choose your own toppings. The pasta here is overcooked, actually pre-cooked then reheated, and the sauce tastes microwaved. I usually stick with the salads or sandwiches for an alternative to pizza. The garlic bread is very tasty. They also have hot wings, but one time they were undercooked, so I stay away from them. The most popular pizza among my friends is the All Star Chicken, which has garlic, chicken, tomatoes, and avocado. BF loves it. I, on the other hand, being lactose intolerant, have only tasted the toppings and the crust after taking off the cheese. I have to say it's not bad. This location of Lamppost also has a brewery attached, so you can get pitchers of beer or glasses of wine. The beer is very popular with the people in my running group, especially the Hefeweizen. I understand that the quality accounts for the cost, but it`s still not an affordable easy dinner. What really disappoints me is that they used to have fresh basil leaves for the margarita pizza, but not they only have dried leaves from a bottle. Tastes really bad and the margarita pizza was our favorite. Buffalo wings are huge and spicy. I wouldn`t really qualify them as real buffalo wings, but they`re still good and I`d get them more often than not. Pasta dishes are pretty bland and the italian sausages are kind of weird. Sure they`re huge, but I`d rather smaller with less gristle. Sandwiches are fairly blah. You`d be better off walking to Togo`s and ordering an Italian combo or something while you`re waiting for your pizza. Service is usually very peppy and attentive, but once in a while, the person at the register is the most unfriendly, angry, discontented person in the 949. I`ve encountered friendlier gas station attendants. That one sour grape really ruins it for the bunch. We never eat there so I can`t comment on the atmosphere, but while waiting for our order, we have sat at the bar once and it was pretty uncomfortable. Bartender was great, but the people there were not. We won`t ever go to the bar again. Smoking IS allowed on their enclosed patio and it`s HORRIBLE when the smoke wafts in each and every time someone opens the door. Hideous. Tables and benches are kept generally clean, but floors aren`t. We`d definitely order more often if the fresh basil came back, but after they got rid of that, our patronage has all much ceased. But business won`t hurt since most people don`t look for light pizza; they`re looking for stuff like their specialities which are so heavy that the slices are near impossible to pick up. Lampost pizza is okay but just really really pricey. It's a fun hangout place to watch a game and to have a beer but that's about it. The pizzas are average - I only get one when I have either some sort of Groupon deal or a free pizza certificate for partaking in the various Irvine sports league. I have a soft spot for Lamppost Pizza because back when my younger siblings played soccer, this is where they would come to eat after every other game or so. A lot of good times were spent here eating pizza, wings, and salads. I can't say that they serve really great pizza because they don't. They serve average pizza that tastes pretty good. It comes out always hot and they are pretty generous with the toppings. Their wings are decent also and so are their salads. I know that the have a pretty big bar for drinks but I don't drink much so I don't really care for it. The only real problem I have with this place is their prices. For their prices, you would expect premium pizzas. Expect a medium or large pizza to run around $15 to $20. Anyways, it is a solid pizza place. Great crust, good amt of toppings but pretty steep in pricing. If I wanted to pay gourmet pricing, I'd expect something a little nicer. There were a few tables which weren't cleaned but it could be because it wasn't packed and they didn't feel a urgency to bus it. I have a soft spot in my heart for Lamppost Pizza because I used to come here all the time when I was in high school, and I've always been a fan of their pizza. My family used to come here pretty often just for lunch or dinner, so we've had some good times sitting at their tables just chatting and eating pizza and spaghetti. I wouldn't say this is my favorite pizza EVER, but when it's fresh, it's very good. The bread is always soft, not like at some places where you get really crispy, burnt bread or crust. They're generous with cheese and toppings, and the overall flavor is excellent. This is definitely some quality pizza. The prices are more of a premium though from what you'd expect from typical pizza places - expect custom Medium or Large pizzas to run around $15-20. I don't come here as often anymore, but when I do, I come for lunch and get the Lunch Special #1, which is two slices of pizza (pepperoni or cheese) and a drink for $5.50. Now that's a good deal and it's worth it. Since I really frequented this place a lot more when I was younger and with my family, I never tried any of their drinks or sat at their bar, but they have a pretty big bar area set aside. They also have outdoor seating which is good for big parties. They've really vamped up the place in the last few years with adding more big screen TV's so it's a great place to come watch the game if you're with friends. I am so disappointed because they looked so appetizing in other photos, but there was nothing particularly redeeming about these wings. Pizza and Beer is great. After Barros/Irvine pizza, then Northwood pizza closed, this is it in terms of hometown pizza places. The brewery is a great added touch.. The prices are high, but these guys do coupons. Staff is great and don't gripe when you ask for plates or a side of ranch. Bar staff is friendly. While this is a chain. This was started in Irvine by Ron Barro. It feels like a hometown pizza joint to me, even if they've expanded. Success has not ruined these guys. read more

This is the only place where you can dress super casual and feel comfortable and also not be bothered by too loud of obnoxious folks who are buzzed, loud and yelling about the sports game playing on the multiple TV's. Plus they have a brewery and free wifi! Pizza is average and greasy and overall pretty MEH...but, you get your pizza and game fix and feel better about being able to support one of the smaller businesses chains in town. Love coming here for football because of all of the fans that come decked out in their team gear! Makes it feel homey and casual and that overall good small-town community feeling. read more

My roommate and his girlfriend each got a 12" specialty pizza, which was about 25 dollars each. The pizzas are a bit over priced, so I decided to go with the 2 slice + drink special for 5.25 dollars, while Annie (my fiancé), ordered a slice of cheese pizza for 2.50 dollars. We found the least dirtiest table and bused it ourselves. Our pizzas came fairly quickly, with good reason. Our lunch special pizzas were pre-made and not heated up very well. It kind of tasted like frozen pizza, but for 5.25 I didn't complain too much. I had a slice of my roommate's Mediterranean pizza, which was just okay. It was freshly made, but it tasted a bit bland. Overall the only really pleasant experience was the free refills on soft drinks. The dirty tables was a real turn off and the food wasn't even OK by my standards. My super optimistic fiancé, enjoyed herself, so I guess it'll vary between people. A little about my credentials: I first got into cooking & food when I was in college. After being rejected by numerous girls and getting zero action, I decided it was time for a change. I needed a new makeover to boost my geeky, engineering image. So when I moved to Irvine, I got a coupon for a free large pizza. Cool, who doesn't love pizza? I never been to this place before and I always enjoy discovering new pizzas. I used the coupon but I also bought another pizza so I could walk out with 2 pizzas but also give them business. I ordered my pizza over the phone and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes, around 5:30. I arrive after 20 minutes. I walk inside and there's a celebration going on and the group look like regulars because they know where everything is at. I go to the counter and pay for my order and was told by a young blonde female that my order is not ready. I was not told how much longer it was going to take so I hang out where she could see me to let me know when my order is ready. As I wait, other people walk in to pick up their order and others dine in and make orders. The people who dine in got their orders before mine was ready. 25 minutes have gone by and I walk to the counter again and asked about my order, the same girl looks at me like I'm a new customer...WTF? I tell her I'm still waiting for my order and showed her my receipt and the whole time it was sitting on some oven. I left with no apology. When I got home, the pizza was cold and the cheese already dry of sitting out too long. I didn't bother to call management because it felt like the acting manager wasn't there. After this, I stayed with ordering Dominos Pizza. At least Dominos has integrity when it comes to pizza. read more

Just met up with an old roommate here for a pint and a slice. However, since we are both gluttons, this evolved into a pizza and a pitcher each. The beer selection was really good, the guy working there took us to the bar and let us taste a few of the season brews before we decided to pick one. First we had the American cream ale, which had a weird onion-y aftertaste. The second pitcher was a blonde ale that was pretty damn close to a Leffe, one of my favorite European beers. The pizza we had was great- garlic, tomato, feta, artichoke hearts. I love how much garlic they put on, it really brought the pizza up to another level. The artichokes were obviously canned, but the sauce had a good flavor (again, improved by garlic) and hit the spot perfectly. The place was not crowded at all compared to the previous times I had been there, so I can't really speak to the crowds of baseball kids there. The pizza took a while to come out, but I was able to catch up with my old friend in the meantime. The young guy working was cool, and the old guy seemed alright. The one downside is the price, but you definitely pay for quality in this case. Next time I'll be in Irvine (whenever that is), I'm for sure hitting this place back up! read more

My friend just took me to Lamppost Pizza last night. Though I heard about this restaurant, I didn't get a chance to go. We ordered the 35 bucket of wings and got them double baked. We shared it among 4 people and it made us full. They give you celery and carrots along with ranch and hot buffalo sauce to go along with your wings. Though it's a tad expensive for $31 (with tax), it's okay if you split with 4 people. Just the bad thing was that we had to wait a while for our order to come, but I think it makes sense considering we asked for it to be double baked. If you went to school in Irvine, played sports as a young person in grade school in Irvine, then this place probably holds a special place in your heart. Back home in the Bay Area, we had Round Table Pizza that basically was the "celebration" location for victories in peewee basketball and football, and this place holds that same tradition down in Southern California. If this is the vibe you're going for... there ya go. Right in the heart of Irvine. A bit unique in that sense... The Pizza is average... nothing outstanding and in my opinion, a bit over priced. But if you're looking for a greasy, cheesy and filling pizza.. Lamppost will do the trick. I also tried the Jalapeno Cheese poppers.. which were comparable to the order at Jack in the Box. So, nothing special. It's neat that they brew their own beer on location. I can't say i was thoroughly impressed, but beer and pizza is really hard to disappoint, especially after a late night soccer match. There's nothing at all wrong with the pizza quality, atmosphere and beer at Lamppost. But I do think there are other nearby places that offer something similar with a few more positives to make it a deal breaker. Since the COVID pandemic hit, we haven't been out to eat in over a year! Last night we had the opportunity to come and celebrate our high school football team's victory, and last home game for our senior boys. Lamppost graciously hosted some of our players, parents, and fans. The pizza came out quickly and was delicious as always! We already knew it was the best pizza in town, and lucky for us, the staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating of our large group! Especially Brittany! When I first went to this place many years ago I wasn't very impressed. Neither with quality nor the prices. And a rotary view that expressed those opinions accordingly. BUT having recently had a tremendous pizza craving I put aside my Pride and stopped in for a quick pizza. Imagine my surprise when I took my first bite and was very pleased with what I tasted. Now I have to say that I grew up in Chicago and I'm sort of a pizza snob. Not to say that all Chicago pizza is good or that no other place in the country makes decent Pizza. Unfortunately, Lamppost Pizza, while it's food and drink are pretty good, is a subpar pizzeria. Most times I've gone over the many years, its been with family -- which is to say that I wouldn't have come here otherwise. The reason is because the service is near-constantly terrible. Messed-up orders, MISSING orders after they've given away our food to other people (once was twice in a row that same visit... 45 minutes of waiting!), and once I even saw a person picking their nose in the kitchen. The only reason my family bothered with this place for as long as we have is because my father loved the pizza there. But even he got tired of the mistakes, cut corners, and so on. Give this place a pass, but if you must go? At least the food and beer is decent. read more

Been wanting to try this place and their taco pizza. I had taco pizza in Ohio & it was great so I was very excited. I have to say I was sadly disappointed. I had a Groupon so why not try it.
