We have been looking to hang some pendant lights in existing cans at our home, and have been having trouble finding the right size can cover, since the pendants' ceiling covers were too narrow. Wasn't finding much help at the big box stores, until we came to Lamps Plus and worked with Viktor. He got us squared away with just the right conversion kit, and helped us pick out some cool light bulbs as well. He was really helpful and friendly. Who the hell knew light bulbs could be so complicated. Hector was excellent at suggesting fixtures that coordinated with the fuzzy small pics on my phone. He selected different bulbs for different fixtures. Once installed I realized all this fuss over the bulb with the fixture and location made a world of difference. I love how the light fixtures and bulbs transformed my living room, dining room, kitchen and hall. That was a lot of bulbs!!!! As I write this review I realize I need a reading light....only negative was a lady that helped me previous told me they weren't going to charge my card until I picked up fixtures so I held one and they did charge my card. I don't like to be deceived and I felt she was to make a sale. But Hector saved the sale and I'm happy. Just use Hector for an honest sale. read more

I recently bought 4 pendants from Lamps Plus in Pleasant Hill. Two of the pendants were defective. I had ordered them over the phone and when I called the store for help they recommended that I either drive 2 hours to their location or go to the Fair Oaks store and talk to Viktor. I was a bit frustrated with the Pleasant Hill store, but once I started talking to Viktor I knew I was in great hands. I made an appointment the next day and he was not only incredibly friendly but extremely helpful. I came into the store and not only did Viktor repair my pendant but he helped me return the one I did not need. Viktor has been at the store for 12 years and he made me feel at ease with his experience and expertise. I will definitely go back to Viktor and the Fair Oaks location if I need anything else! Terrible customer service. I went in there approx 2 months ago. Not one single person offered to help me. I had to find someone. I was inquiring about lampshades. She pointed me to the area where they were and walked away. Today I went in again. Lets just say I'm a glutton for punishment. I asked about black lamp shades this time. I brought a shade with me so I could get that size. She handed me the tape measure. When I said I wasn't sure how to measure it she took the tape measure and measured it top to bottom only. Now even I know that you need other measurements but I didn't know which ones and she didn't tell me either. She said that the only black shades they had were there. I said that I had seen some on line. She condescendingly said... yes here's the computer you can look here. We looked on line and she scrolled through them without saying a word. I asked for the measurements so I could look elsewhere since they didn't have what I wanted. She said nothing. She turned and walked away. No thank you for coming in, nothing! I'm done. The prices seemed reasonable enough, with prices marked off the "retail" listing. This is not a discount store, but they seem to carry quality brands. We were helped right away. Lamps Plus has a great selection of lights and and fans, and the customer experience during the buying process is great. However, if you have a problem AFTER the purchase and need to utilize either the Lamps Plus or product warranty - good luck! We purchased a Minka Air fan from Lamps Plus and about a year after purchase, it stopped working. After inspecting the fan we found that the wiring from the fan to the light kit had burned up and melted. First of all, this is very dangerous and pretty frightening that this could have caught our house on fire. We called Lamps Plus on August 28th and were told to call the manufacturer. After calling the manufacturer, we were told that we just needed a new light kit and that they would mail us one. That wasn't the solution because we could not plug the new light kit into the fan because the wring from the fan was melted. The manufacturer said that in this case the fan would be covered under the lifetime warranty and to contact the store to utilize the warranty. I called Lamps Plus to explain the situation and they said that I needed to go through the manufacturer. I told them I had an email I could show them from the manufacturer stating that it was the store I needed to go through, and they then said they would need to call the manufacturer themselves and get back to me. I waited about three days and hadn't heard anything, so I called back and was told that I needed to speak to the manager, Hector, but that he wasn't in and that he would call me back. Two days later, no call. I called again and was told that I needed to call back the following day at 10 am if I wanted to speak to Hector (weird, but ok). Called back at 10am and was told Hector wasn't in. At this point I'm pretty peeved and explain all I've been through and the lady again tells me to call the manufacturer (!!). This pattern of calling them and being avoided goes on for days. One day I call and am told Hector is in but on another call. I said I will wait. 30 minutes on hold and still no Hector. I figure they probably forgot about me so I hang up and call back. I am immediately transferred to Lamps Plus headquarters. I had no idea there even WAS a Lamps Plus headquarters! If I had known this I might have tried them instead of going through all of this runaround! The operator at headquarters was a breath of fresh air. Completely helpful and was able to help solve my issue quickly. They determined I needed a whole new fan and that it would be covered under the warranty. The only issue was that I needed to mail my old fan back, which was a hassle. I should be getting my new one in the mail any day now. Let's hope this one doesn't catch on fire. All in all, the Lamps Plus store on Sunrise has lost my business and I encourage you all to stay away. It took 18 days of me trying to contact them for me to (accidentally) get some help - and not through the store themselves. The store manager does not care about customers. I am also really disappointed that their expensive products don't last. read more

The Good: Saw the perfect floor lamp on the internet site and filled out the form to check store availability. About one hour later I received a phone call from the store that the lamp was in stock. The Bad: Drove to the store. This was Saturday afternoon. The store was a madhouse. I went to the counter where one salesperson was on the phone for about 5 minutes. I waited and then decided to try and find the lamp by myself. Found it and decided this was the one we wanted. I then went back to the desk and there were several customers being helped and other waiting for help. There was absolutely no organization. People were walking up to the counter who just entered the store and were being taken care of. After about 10 minutes I just went to the walk space between the 2 counters and made myself obvious. It would be great if a number system was used instead of just being pushy. Took the lamp home and assembled it with not too much problem. It was made in China so the assembly directions were imperfect. Also, it was packed with the stryophome type material that left a mess all over the living room floor. Other than that the lamp is perfect and doesn't look like the typical cheap Chinese product that you normally expect. read more

My sales associate Joseph ruined this place for me, the way a teacher can make or break the classroom experience. Right off the bat, the place has a commissioned sales vibe and I guess I was not spending enough during that trip to be taken seriously enough by Joseph. I purchased two lamps, one had to be shipped from the warehouse. No problem. Joseph said it would be here the following Wednesday and I would get a call. Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday roll around with no call. I go in on Sunday and was informed the warehouse is out. I ask Joseph if another store could fulfill the order. He says he would "do some research" and call me Monday before noon with the verdict. No call Monday or Tuesday. If I over promised and under delivered at my job the way Joseph does, I'd be fired! I noticed while there, all the associates push LED bulbs on the customers very aggressively. I was pleasantly surprised to see they sold more than just lamps, they had some beautiful end tables and decor. I won't be shopping there though. read more

I have had such a horrible experience. I spent about $2k on lighting. 1.) they were supposed to call me when each order came in. A week after they said they would have each item I stopped by and they happened to have it.... Horrible follow up. 2.) 2 lights were 3 weeks past the date they said they would arrive. 4.) they'd spend 30 minutes each time searching for my item. Very poor organization. 5,) 2 out of the 7 lights I bought were damaged. These pp are paid on commission and will say and promise anything to make a purchase. I love the selection of lamps here. They have a wide variety of units on display but it doesn't even come close to touching their entire catalog. I purchased a lamp and the instructions had basic electrical information, the kind of thing you should already know before attempting to hang a chandelier. What it didn't include was instructions on how to put the lamp together nor hang it properly as it had a somewhat complex hanging bracket and all sorts of extra pieces. It took a little extra time but I managed to figure it out. It did, however, require me to pull it off the ceiling and re-hang it due to these lack of instructions. read more

The first time I came to this store I was not happy with customer service since I had to walk around to the counter and wait for someone to help me and the individual ( a younger male with dark hair) did not seem very friendly or helpful at all and did not want to show me the products I was interested in. My second visit to the store became a fantastic experience, I was helped by John, who was a very knowledgeable, friendly and a funny man. He made up for the bad initial experience. I have since become addicted to this store and my boyfriend and I find ourselves visiting John and picking up something up here rather frequently. My husband and I went to this store looking to purchase all new lighting for our home. We had been there before and purchased lighting. As we got out of the car, we saw throw pillows and bar stools, which we would also like, so we were pretty excited to see what they had. We live in Auburn and traveled for almost an hour and I really needed to use the restroom. When we entered the store, I asked an employee if I could use the restroom. She said they did not have one. You don't have a restroom for your customers?, I asked. No we don't, she said. So, we had to leave and were very disappointed to be treated this way. I called the corporate office and spoke to a very nice lady who said that they do have customer restrooms and was surprised to hear of our experience. She took my contact information and said that a district manager would call me. That was noon on Feb. 8th and I, so far, have not heard from anyone. Do your lighting shopping elsewhere. read more

WoW...I can't say enough about this place! First let me say this was our (myself and my husband) first visit in this store. First impression was WOW! Our first salesperson did not stick with us...although he did greet us and asked if we needed help...we were only able to get one question in (we said we had several questions) since we had a list of things to buy...he told his Manager to help us (which he did) and he was very friendly AND then the BEST thing happened....the Manager passed us onto Viktor!!!! He stuck with us and was VERY patient with us. We had a lot of questions and he was VERY knowledgeable. This store is not just lighting, they have some fantastic accessories and some furnishings also. We ended our trip with 2 table lamps, one floor lamp, 2 accessories, 3 sensor night lights, 3 touch base usb holders...and we already have a list going for our next visit. Not sure if we would have returned if Viktor didn't take his time with us and turned our experience into making us feel like VIP's! The store was very well kept and organized , they have soooooo many things but the way they have it set up is very organized!! Very happy with every aspect of our purchase here. We set out to purchase a new light fixture for our new home. We left after ordering a light fixture, a ceiling fan, a piece of wall art, and 2 chairs. It was mostly delivered in less than a week. The fan motor didn't arrive. Been to this store a few times and to be frank the original service wasn't too good. After speaking to a family member I was introduced to Brenda and she went well beyond what I had expected to take care of all my issues and concerns. She came out to my home even though she wasn't healthy and gave me some great ideas. Re-did my entire home lightening and after a fews month she contacted us that the price on some of our original purchases went down so we had a credit refund which will post to our credit card!!! She was very patient with our questions and had answeres to all our questions right off the top of her head or quickly found the needed info for us. She obviously loves what she does and as a business owner myself I would steal her from her job to run my company if I were in the lighting business. She's that awesome!
