I worked with the Lamps Plus lighting designer to upgrade the lighting in my living room and dining room. I did not want any table top, eye level or wall mounted lamps, I wanted everything in or on the ceiling. It was a bit of a challenge because I have a 20 foot ceiling. I wanted to be able to have different lighting for different situations like playing piano, entertaining guests, dining, and displaying art with light having the highest possible color rendering index. Before I came to Lamps Plus I had already studied what I generally needed and prepared a rough plan. I worked with the lighting designer to access their specialized knowledge of lighting hardware and to help refine the plan and designate concrete specifics on things like bulb beam spread and to "see the light" in store. The Lamps Plus designer embraced my atypical requirements and found solutions. The designer smartly chose a focusable framing projector for the artwork display. The designer ordered from Lutron a GRAFIK Eye lighting controller for me from a datasheet I found online elsewhere not at Lamps Plus. The GRAFIK Eye is basically an oversized $800 light switch on steroids which is not on the Lamps Plus website. The GRAFIK Eye has 7 lighting levels for each of 4 lighting zones which means you can select 7!/(7-4)! or 840 different possible "moods" of which you can program your favorite 4 into preset buttons. Lamps plus arranged for all my fixtures, bulbs, switches, controllers, helped me identify lighting zones in my house, and installed it all and connected it all to the GRAFIK Eye and helped me program it. My wife and I have spent close to $2,500 at this store over the last two years as part of the remodeling of our home, but I will probably never go back after my last two visits over the past week. After waiting for 20 minutes, I found the staff to be disorganized, unprofessional and lacked any knowledge about the product lines. I ended up going to Living Spaces just up the 5-Freeway and was greeted by sales personnel who were customer friendly, professional and extremely knowledgeable about their product line ... I was also greeted as soon as I walked through the door at Living Spaces, and ended up spending about $750. read more

It's salespeople like Hani and Mario that make this store such a great place to shop. I brought in an old onyx lamp that I had purchased many years ago at this store. It was so corroded that I couldn't unscrew the finial in order to try out new lampshades, so they took it into the back and fixed it for me. Then we were trying to find a new crystal pull and when they didn't have what I needed Mario came up with a quick fix to repair what I had. This store is not a lamp repair store, nevertheless Hani and Mario were trying their best to help me. Hani was by my side as we tried many styles of lampshades, browsed the computer for other styles, and then I ultimately went with a great suggestion by Hani. I did end up returning those lampshades after finding the exact original style replacement shades on Amazon. But what the guys didn't know was that in the past year I've purchased four outdoor lamps, two large fans, two large chandeliers, and several wall sconces...all premium brands costing top dollar. I've spent a lot of money at this store this past year while I was remodeling my home top to bottom. And yet the wonderful treatment I received when they thought I had only purchased just two cheep lampshades is what confirmed my brand loyalty. I've been shopping at this store for decades, have sent many friends and family members here and will continue to purchase all my lighting products here. I ordered a ceiling fan with a light over a year ago. The light went bad shortly after it was installed, I was too lazy to get it fixed. I tried to change the bulbs and realized I had to get a replacement light kit which is $100. I called Lamps plus and they are sending me the kit for free. I didn't ask they offered even though it wasn't under warranty. I am very impressed with this service. I would not suggest anyone buy the 56" Vengeance LED ceiling fan/light because of this issue however the service at Lamps Plus has been wonderful. Hopefully this light last longer. read more

Finding LED bulbs with the same luminance was difficult, but Matt persevered and got just what I needed. This place is special. I am a handyman who doesn't say no to my clients. So when the ask was to fix an exterior lamp instead of replacing it, off I went into the world to find a solution. The fix came down to cobbling together metals and glass and wires but the critical piece was this silly little threaded bolt with a hole in its center. And I did find one somewhere else but it was the wrong size. When I was refered to Lamps Plus I called, they knew what I was talking about, said come on down, I got there and they had 3 sizes and multiple styles of this screw sitting out waiting for me to look at and in the end, because it was a tiny little nothing part, they gave it to me for free. I could say more about everyone in there but what compelled me to write this is the fact that they all worked as a team not as individuals and they helped me with the one piece that meant pass or fail for my project and the service I got was comforting and refreshing and I hope this review pays them 10 fold what they didn't make spending their time, talents and treasures to help me. read more

Hani took amazing care of us, when we had to make two returns, two exchanges, ordering online, getting a floor sample and all that stuff in a very quick and pleasant way. We purchased a garden fountain today and the customer associates we dealt was not professional. We had to ask multiple times if he had the product in stock as he didn't want to go look. Bought over $700 worth out outdoor lamps. For the adaptor mounting piers for the post lights, we needed to drill 4 holes in our cement piers and there were absolutely no instructions in the box. I called the store and they said to measure the anchor but this would be a "guess" on the drill bit size to use. Then we were asked to call their install department. The installer, Maher, agreed that it is crazy that they do not have instructions in the box. He did not have the answer but said he would look into for us and call us back sometime this week. He was very nice but we cannot get the work done today now. We wanted to get these installed today and now we have to wait until their vendor gets back to us on the size holes to drill into the cement. Obviously, when you drill into cement you want to get it right the first time around! Crazy! read more

Unfortunately, I had one of THE worst experiences at Lamps Plus today when I went in to pick up a previously ordered fixture. I do not think it necessary to go into detail about the astonishing lack of customer service, but I am not exaggerating when I say it is the absolute worst. (Sit "N Sleep: You have moved out of last place!) If a wide selection of light fixtures is what you are looking for and you do not care to have anyone help you or answer any questions...or even be civil to you as YOU ARE PAYING FOR AN ITEM, then this Lamps Plus is for you. Walked in with my 8 month pregnant wife excited to look for a lamp for the nursery we were finishing up. It only took a minute or two for something to come assist us which was a pleasant surprise, until the sales lady opens her mouth. As asked what we wanted with an attitude. We brushed it aside because we really wanted to find a lamp and have a good experience. We stayed we wanted a lamp for our nursery and she rolled her eyes at us and said "what kind of lamp do you want". I then started to describe the type of lamp we wanted (hoping she just wasn't understanding what we were looking for), she interrupted me and said she knows what a lamp is and that I was wasting her time. Needless to say at that point our once hopeful positive experience went out the window. My wife and I quickly pointed out that she had no reason for giving an attitude and that she would be best to work on her customer service. Completely horrible experience. read more

Sadly, I've found little to like about shopping at Lamps Plus. While the designs are attractive, the quality is generally poor. The latest example was garage lamps purchased a little over a year ago. Of course, the bulb goes out just after the extended expires on the lamps - an additional charge - and when removing the bulb, the housing comes loose. I figure they would have a way to help get the base of the damaged housing out but their suggestion was that the lamp is currently on sale for $69. WHAT?! Sorry, but I'm not buying the same cheap lamp to replace the crap I first got. I'm now off to Home Depot to find replacement parts. And, by the way, they have a decent selection of lamps too. No more overpriced, under supported, junky products for us. Done with Lamps Plus for good. read more

After reading the previous reviews, I guess I should have asked for Vic/victor. While the selection was 4/5 stars, the customer service was horrible a 1 star hanging on a thin thread. A few unapproachable and miserable sales people. One lady in particular seems so miserable and unprofessional. We simply asked her for assistance and got attitude along with negative comments under her breath to another customer. Had I known this would be the experience I should've gone elsewhere. Wrong Bulbs Caused LED Flashing The 41 Firefly bulbs that Lamps Plus used for my recessed lighting were incompatible with the Lutron Caséta dimmer switches which they installed. Some of the lights flashed like strobe lights at a disco. I figured out what the problem was by doing a lot of reading online. Mark and Victor, the managers, said they had never heard of this problem before. They ordered different bulbs which I told them would not work. Finally they ordered the correct bulbs, and swapped them out, at no additional charge to me. This all took about a month. The new bulbs are working perfectly, and I am very happy with Victor's design. Artin, the installer, was excellent. read more

Went in looking for bathroom lighting for a remodel I was working on. Initially was ignored as I walked around the store, so I went up to the register where I was told a sales agent would assist me. I wasn't set on a specific light I wanted to see options, to which he proceeded to direct me to their online webpage which I had already looked at. I was looking for something a little custom and wanted to see the actual possibilities. Bottom line I felt the customer service was way below where it should be, as if I (the customer) was inconveniencing them. I gave two stars bc they do have a large nice selection but so did the competitor minutes away only they have wonderful service. read more

Who would have ever expected 5 star customer service at Lamps Plus? I was blown away by not just 1 amazingly helpful sales rep, not just 2 amazingly helpful sales reps but 3!!! I've popped in 3 times over the course of 3 days and was equally impressed with each person that helped me... I only wish I could remember all of their names. Super helpful! The sales staff was very friendly and helpful. (That's for the +2 stars). Now for the not so good. We purchased 7 fans for the house. They had 3 of them in stock and the others were being shipped directly to the house. On the first 3 we took home, 2 looked like a returned, repackaged item. You can tell because the boxes was re-taped. I inspected them and they look okay. Then the others ones came and ALL of them looked like opened, resealed boxes. Upon closer inspection, 2 of them looked like they were installed and then returned. The wires had the tell tell sign of being installed. The wife already paid for the electrician to come and installed and didn't want to wait so we are going to keep them. Just pisses me off that I'm paying full price for used items. Warning to others, check the boxes before you leave the store. read more

I had a horrible experience with them. I bought two very expensive mirrors and the both came with major cracks . I talk to them and all they could say I'm sorry , I spent $200 for two guys to hang them two times and the two times they had the same problems. I can believe after I spent so much money with them all they could say is sorry. For me that is such a poor Busines management. For that I definably don't recommend them. read more

Lamps Plus Installation quote of $135 for installing a ceiling fan is a scam. They quoted me to swap out a new fan for an old fan, consistent with the little '$135 to install' tags hanging from every almost ceiling fan in the Laguna Hills store. When the electrician arrived, he says that there is a slight change in the box needed to be in code and that it will be an additional $80. I called Pam in the store, who told me that the electrician has to use the new part. When I asked why there was no mention of a code change and the potential additional cost (Lamps Plus installed my original fan, as well), I was told that it was in the fine print. I explained that I got a verbal quote over the phone, as well as the falsely heavily advertised installation price in the store, so that response did not make sense. Regardless, the electrician had a stash of these boxes in his truck and my guess is and that every installation is upsold by $80. I took the day off work, so was stuck paying the $215. Never again will I use Lamps Plus. read more

Terrible Terrible service. Husband and I went here because he was installing a fan for a friend. The fan came with an incorrect part (receiver) so the homeowner had to go in and exchange it. The second part they gave her (switch) was not working and would not communicate with the receiver. My husband had to go back and get a third replacement and the manager was very rude to us. We try again and the third replacement part was still not working. The homeowner was irate and called the store a fourth time. Supposedly they will send an electrician tomorrow to see what the problem is but we know for a fact it was not the wiring, it is malfunctioning parts. If they were helpful or at all apologetic it would not have been an issue. Rather the staff was rude and acted like we were the problem. We will not be going back here. read more

Came in this weekend to buy a floor lamp. The sales person was very helpful and they are always willing to order things for you. Have bought thousands of dollars in outdoor lighting and chandlers from them in the past few years. The have even lengthened my chandler cord and chain. They are always very nice and will take returns if you are not happy. Don't get the best service or responses over the phone but I highly recommend going in if you need anything. read more

I love the products there but I had a bad experience lately. I went to buy some lighting fixtures and Cherie advised me about a free consultation with one of their designers. So I met with Stephan (lighting designer from the store) at my location. He asked me $ 400.00 for the consultation (which it was not free as I had been told at the store). He later called me asking for a credit card and when I asked for an invoice he just sent me an email with the description of the services but without the price! Very unprofessional. He basically tried to rip me off. Stay away from their design consultants! PS It did NOT make a difference to me that the manager wrote the email (which was identical to the one she posted for the store in HuntingtonBeach) apologizing for the bad service. Went to Lamps Plus in need of a down rod for an existing fan. I didn't know the manufacturer since I recently moved into the home and was moving a fan from one room to another. Without the brand of fan they weren't able to help me. Fortunately, I had taken a photo of the fan and after showing it to Victor Gulati, he not only identified the fan but was able to get me the part. I have since gone back and purchased two more fans. Very busy store, but the staff is very courteous and helpful. Victor Gulati is the best. I am now a loyal customer. read more

This store is pretty big with a nice selection. Went into the store looking for a light, but not too sure as to what exactly we were looking to fit our home. Upon entering the store you could get the feeling that they sales reps all work off commission as we got hounding the minute upon entering. After about a minute of saying we want to just look 3 or 4 times and we don't have any idea we were finally on our way through the shop. I'm just a fan of asking for help when I want it, nothing against the shop. This shop is HUGE with something for everyone. We got some good ideas for the bedroom we were looking for a light for. We will return soon once we look again at the space again to verify our likings from what we found in the shop read more
