I had to find a lamp for my grandma and I had to find it pronto. I started on the internet perusing the Lamps Plus website and got an idea as to what I might find at the store. Later on in the day I drove down to this particular Lamps Plus and it didn't take me long to locate the lamp in question. After finding my lamp I went in search of a salesperson to help me. I indicated that I wanted the lamp and the salesperson went to the back to find it and brought it to the counter. So far so good right? I then asked him to open it up and try it beforehand just to make sure that it works. Then I asked if he could put the lamp together for me. He stares at me and then re-iterated what I asked him to which I replied YES. He then muttered audibly "it isn't store policy but we're not busy so ..... " -- I thought it was a sarcastic and very unnecessary remark but I said 'thank you" since he was going to help me put the lamp together. Well.... after a few questions from the guy: 'oh you're gonna bring this in your car, are you SURE you want to do that as it is fragile .... blah blah blah blah". I could see that he really didn't want to do this, so I said fine, don't worry about it. I just felt like the tone of voice, the sarcasm, the obvious superficial demeanor was really off-putting. There is no need for the arrogant attitude! Thank god I'm not always in the market for lamps so I doubt I'll return anytime soon. If you're not in a hurry, shop on line. I think they have a lot of lamps in stock but even so, there isn't anything super unique. 3 stars for the store itself and one star off for the customer service. read more

Not only do they have a huge selection in store, but also online. the prices are great for the quality you are getting, much more affordable than all other independent lighting stores and much more unique than all the chain stores. I don't like to go crazy with the whole Yelping of retail, grocery store and gas stations thing but I'll make the rare exception due to the great experience I had at Lamps Plus today. We're doing a gut/remodel of our master bath (nightmare!) and needed some sconce lighting STAT to finish things off. I've been to The Great Indoors and Restoration Hardware and just couldn't find exactly what I needed. Nor did I want to pay their bloated prices. So as a last ditch attempt I hit Lamps Plus this morning and was blown away by their huge selection as well as a lot of really modern and contemporary pieces. The only reason that it was so hard to decide was because they had SO much inventory. They had a few of the exact same fixtures as Restoration Hardware at about 1/2 to 2/3 the price. I saved around $300 on the two pieces I purchased. Nice. Even with quite a few salespeople the store was pretty busy. Fortunately I have just a little bit of patience and was helped out fast enough. This review comes after having visited the store twice. People should expect weekends are unusually busy and if you expect a store to have a salesperson on hand to answer your questions right away, you're smoking dope. Expect to wait a few minutes, which we did. On the other hand, we did appreciate the hands-off approach. I think the salespeople were rather intuitive and always knew when we were ready to ask them questions. So when we did manage to snag a salesperson, we found them to be quite informative and helpful. Our first trip was a scouting mission but we expected our second trip to culminate in a major purchase after we asked a few more questions. As we walked in the 2nd visit, I was a little anxious because the place seemed SUPER busy. But we played it cool and walked around to locate what we wanted and also find some things we had seen on their website. Soon enough, Jesse found us and took us under his wing. We told him what we wanted, our budget and waited for his feedback. It turns out he didn't think the dining room light we wanted would be bright enough - he was probably right. We gave him a few more details and off he went. We started off a little slowly with him thinking or getting discouraged but finally, he turned us onto another style of lights we never thought about. He stayed within our budget so ultimately, it was hubby and I who exceeded our budget voluntarily. Jesse was patient and led us all around the store, refusing to give up. In the end, hubby and I got a dining room light, an entryway light, a chandelier for the stairs and a floor lamp that we totally loved. They've definitely got a great selection and knowledgeable sales people. But if you want immediate service, I would recommend going on a weekday. The selection is great, the staff try their very best, however it's not them it's the CEO and his cronies that's to blame: They have no idea what their staff are trying to work with in terms of old computers and a ridiculous unworkable program. The sales lady helping me had a terrible time,she was trying to enter my information into the system and the mouse was totally out of sync with the curser, she asked if I could try and maybe I would be more successful and faster........ nope it was virtually impossible to use that computer and mouse. It was clear she was starting to get frustrated which I could clearly understand ( my husband had already walked out of the store from sheer frustration ) it took 35 mins to complete the task of entering my name address phone number and email. Then we had to move to a different computer supposedly faster and better so she could order the fixtures online. All went well until she hit" enter" to submit my order. " Error" came across the top, but there was no error everything was correct, she asked for help from another sales person they couldn't see any error. So she was advised to call the help desk, they found no error, apparently this happens multiple times per day. They found no error and it showed the order went through. UGH We were in that store for nearly 2 hours most of the time spent at the desk trying to place an order. So only go if you have hours to waste. Companies need to make sure the staff have the right tools to do their jobs. Too many brick and mortar stores are closing and it's sad. Linda read more

I came to Lamps Plus a couple of days ago to help my mom shop for a chandelier for her living room. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a cheerful employee who offered to help me find what it is that I was looking for. Since my mom hadn't arrived yet and I wasn't sure of what she was looking for, I told him I'd have to get back to him. Lamps Plus is one of the few stores I have been in where the salespeople don't hound you and if you tell them you want to just look around, they will let you do that. Later on my mom arrived and she picked out a handful of models to decide between. After making a decision, I decided to find the salesperson who greeted me this morning so that he could ring up my order. Unfortunately I don't remember his name. However, since he was with another customer at the moment, he asked another salesperson named Lee to help us out. Lee offered to show my mom another option she hadn't thought of as well as check the inventory to make sure the one my mom wanted was actually in stock. Upon finding out he didn't have anymore, he made arrangements with us to order the lamp from another shop and have it delivered on friday. He also discussed the types of bulbs that are used and mentioned that they had them in stock or we could get them wherever we normally bought our bulbs. Finally, he told us about the free program they offer to extend the warranty by a year (also free), send us an electronic receipt and the programs other benefits. If these guys worked on commission, I never would have known it. They were friendly, knowledgeable, professional, and there was absolutely no upsell or hounding. I honestly had never thought of visiting these guys before for the ceiling fans I am shopping for but this experience has made me rethink where I am going to shop at. This sale was refreshing for me. I even asked them about some home automation stuff I was looking for and even though they don't carry the products, they gave me very good recommendations about companies who made what I was looking for and even general costs to get me going. Chandelier shades. I was obsessed with finding the perfect chandelier shades for my new - you guessed it - chandelier. I scoured big box stores and ransacked the Internet until I found the cutest little black and white-striped shades. Thank you, Lamps Plus. Since patience is not one of my virtues, I jetted over to their Laguna Hills location instead of purchasing them online. I was greeted by many smiles and "hello's," and really taken aback by their huge selection of gorgeous chandeliers. I quickly spotted the coveted chandelier shades from online, and bought the five they had on display. After a good 5-minute wait, I was finally rung up and sent on my merry way. While home, I took a look at my receipt and noticed I was charged $12.99 for my $9.99 shade (per the sticker). I called them up and spoke with the guy who overcharged me; he said I needed to come in to get reimbursed, and then quickly hung up. Um, ok. A week later, I went back in. The gentleman who helped me on this visit was really apologetic (we even shared food poisioning stories); he said I didn't need to come back in to get reimbursed, but because I did, he took another $1 off each of the shades. Score! This place has some really great finds at decent prices. Just have some patience - it will pay off. read more

We had a wonderful experience with multiple employees last week and I really wanted to give them a shout out. We went into the store to buy some new fans for the bedrooms in our home, as well as, an outdoor hanging light. We were greeted by multiple employees and were assisted by a very nice gentleman(I really wish I could remember his name). We had already scheduled the electrician to come to our home to install the new fans and new outside light fixture but unfortunately the outside light fixture that we wanted to purchase was not available in store and it needed to be shipped but it would take 3 days to arrive. The wonderful employee who was helping us went to bat for us and asked his manager if it would be okay for us to take the display light fixture since we needed it for the following day. The manager agreed. Even though that is something they normally would not do. Both the manager and wonderful employee helped us load the items into the car and made our experience more than excellent. When we first came in, we had a lot of questions about fans and the employee was able to talk to us about all different types and he even pulled up photos on the computer for us to see. He made sure we were getting exactly what we wanted. We definitely recommend coming to lamps plus to get good products and to talk to people who are knowledgeable about lights and fans. Lamps plus has the best selection of lighting in our area. We were in the market for a new front porch wall light and found one. However the reason for three stars is because of the customer service we received. The salesperson told us we would receive the light the following day shipped from the warehouse. However we got an email the next day saying it would be a week. We didn't mind the wait, it was just being lied to by the salesperson. This place is more like 'Lamps with no service'! When you first walk in there is an overwhelming amount of lamps, which is great for choices so that is why they get a two star for selection. However, the sales folks were not into sales at all. I don't like pushy salespeople but these guys were not even pushing a lamp off the shelf. I went through three people and asked for help - one just pointed to where I could find lamp shades, another redirected me to another lamp store to find a white lamp shade and the other disappeared. We've recently moved into a new home that needed to be furnished, and Lamps Plus was like a glam lighting dream! I did tons of online shopping and price comparisons of different lights and stores, but the designs they carry here are unique and well-crafted. They carry such a large selection in stores and online (sign up online w/ your email to get a coupon and offers), that it's easy to get overwhelmed if you don't know what you're looking for. Luckily, they have beautiful furniture and decor to rest and take a break on (boyfriends beware, mine was overwhelmed and sat in the couch the entire time I was gawking at all the lights). This is the perfect place to go for inspiration, and all your lighting needs (different budgets and price points). I purchased 2 crystal pendant lights from Amazon (my cheap asian frugal side), and had to return them since they weren't well-constructed or bright enough. I found lights I loved online (which I had a coupon code for), and called in-store to see if they would honor the code in-store, since I'd rather pick the lights up sooner than wait for them to ship. Vinnie is the best!! They ended up only having one in the back, and one on display - so I purchased the one in the back and had them ship the second pendant light to me. Came to buy a lamp that we wanted but were not able to purchase it because there was no one available to help us with our order as they were all busy tending to other customers. When my wife spoke to a representative, she was very curt in her response, telling my wife to just go up to the 'front' and wait for someone. Once at 'the front', she still did not receive any help not acknowledgment. My experience was a bit more harsh. I saw a rep in passing and approached her. Before I was even able to get a word out, she lifted her finger at me and gestured that she was busy. That is no way to treat anyone! Take 15 seconds to make a customer feel welcomed and a priority because the customer contributes to your paycheck! If you want service, this is not the place for it. We will take our business elsewhere since our money is no good here. We ended up at Home Depot. Similar lamp at 1/2 the cost and 10x the customer service. read more

Walked into the store and was not greeted by any employees actually employees walked right past me and didn't ask if I needed assistance with anything and continuously ignored me. I ended up purchasing two lamps and the store manager also wasn't very friendly. I will never visit this store again because I felt like my business was not wanted and after purchasing over 500 worth of items I still wasn't treated as a valued customer. I gave this place 3 stars because they at least are fast to take your order. Their problem is....they lie! The salesmen lie, their manager lies...it's in the air. They spend half their time telling you what they are going to do and the other half telling you why they DIDN'T do it. They can be trusted only as far as you can throw them. If they have the item in-stock, great. If they don't....then run! They will tell you whatever you want to hear to close the sale, then leave you hanging. Best thing about Lamp's Plus I found out is that you can have any of their products available on the Internet shipped to a store where you can examine it and change your mind on the spot if it isn't to your liking. Doing so also means you don't have to pay any shipping. SWEET! We ordered an Asian themed end table and a 5 foot tall lamp. Upon taking the pieces home, the lamp was broken and they replaced it for us no questions asked. The only thing I hate about it, is that it is SO crowded and even with all of the employees everyone seems rushed. But the service was still good. read more

He was able to order me some awesome in ground light fixtures that weren't shown in store. I have also had installation services performed through lamps plus as well. Got an outdoor fan installed under a stucco balcony. The crew they sent was on time and courteous. I worked with the Lamps Plus lighting designer to upgrade the lighting in my living room and dining room. I did not want any table top, eye level or wall mounted lamps, I wanted everything in or on the ceiling. It was a bit of a challenge because I have a 20 foot ceiling. I wanted to be able to have different lighting for different situations like playing piano, entertaining guests, dining, and displaying art with light having the highest possible color rendering index. Before I came to Lamps Plus I had already studied what I generally needed and prepared a rough plan. I worked with the lighting designer to access their specialized knowledge of lighting hardware and to help refine the plan and designate concrete specifics on things like bulb beam spread and to "see the light" in store. The Lamps Plus designer embraced my atypical requirements and found solutions. The designer smartly chose a focusable framing projector for the artwork display. The designer ordered from Lutron a GRAFIK Eye lighting controller for me from a datasheet I found online elsewhere not at Lamps Plus. The GRAFIK Eye is basically an oversized $800 light switch on steroids which is not on the Lamps Plus website. The GRAFIK Eye has 7 lighting levels for each of 4 lighting zones which means you can select 7!/(7-4)! or 840 different possible "moods" of which you can program your favorite 4 into preset buttons. Lamps plus arranged for all my fixtures, bulbs, switches, controllers, helped me identify lighting zones in my house, and installed it all and connected it all to the GRAFIK Eye and helped me program it.
