I am so sorry to report back from out of the three dishes I tried tonight, not one could I finish. To their credit I was advised against the lemon prawn & scallop dish, but it just sounded so good. The walnut prawns dish is probably the worst Walnut prawn dish I've ever eaten, again sorry to say. And it seems like most of food is probably deep-fried and if it's stirfried sautéed they just pretty much do the brown sauce, so if you just want veggies with the brown sauce or meat with the brown sauce, or you don't mind deep-fried food, then it's OK I guess. I just like really fresh seafood and really fresh vegetables. But the service was great. [Lily Kai in Tiburon has definitely spoiled it for me. Mai Lee's is my 2nd favorite.] read more

Lam's Kitchen, previously Lily Kai, holds true to its delicious and quick Chinese take-out / delivery roots. Under new management they are still the same family oriented eateire, with fast & excellent service as well as delicious Chinese cuisine. BIG BUZZKILL. Rainy night, definitely do not want to get in the car and drive to Whole Foods' totally reliable hot bar to pick up something at least quasi-healthy for dinner. Nor do I want to fight parking trying to pick-up take out someplace. What to do? Why, call Lam's Kitchen--formerly "Lily Kai"--for delivery, of course. No, not the greatest Chinese in the Bay Area, but good enough, fast, tastes fresh and the exceptionally polite delivery guys always got at least a fiver from me for arriving here with my $15 minimum order plenty hot. BUT NO! SAY IT AIN'T SO! Yet another one of the affordable amenities that made living in this over-priced yuppie heaven enjoyable no longer exists! The lady on the phone said, "We don't deliver anymore." Are they crazy? Or had it been so long since it rained in the winter that they forgot they were the only local delivery option besides pizza? She asked, "Did I want to come in and pick up my order?" No way, lady! It's chilly and damp and all I want to is figure out whether I want to binge watch Fargo or try to get back into Game of Thrones which had become all about frozen zombies and white-out blizzards when last I tuned in. The only alternative now is that service that charges an $8 delivery fee on a $30 minimum order, which with a tip is just plain dumb and totally unfun for cold, mediocre food for one that takes an hour and a half to show up. Guess I'll have to take a harder look at the frozen entrées next trip to Trader Joe's. It's not like there's someplace else I can afford to move. Hey, Lam's! PLEASE reconsider. I'll personally pledge to order at least twice a month through at least the end of April, maybe even May. read more

Honestly believe that this is a hidden gem in the Marin/ San Francisco area. The location is easy to find and parking has never been a problem for me. The food is fantastic! Hands-down one of the best Chinese food I have ever had. My friends and I love the mongolian beef, house chow mein, crab puffs, WON TON SOUP, and singapore noodles. so yummy just thinking about it. The place is casual but has better food than a lot of the fancier places I've been to. I come later in the afternoon and is usually seated right away.The place is family-run. The service is great with two really nice and friendly waitresses. They will accommodate your orders based on your preferences ( spicy, no onion, etc) Though I don't live close to Mill Valley, I always find an excuse to come into the area just for some delicious Chinese food. read more

Everytime I leave this place I leave with a smile. Last time I went they served me an excellent hot sour soup to start off before my meal. The food was delicious and the service is very warm and friendly. The decor is very average making this place a bit of a hidden gem in Mill Valley. I work right down the street, and as an employee in the Blithedale area, it is very hard to find reasonably priced restaurants that are within walking distances. Except Lam's. Lam's is where my coworkers and I go to get a can of coke when we need that extra boost on the job. I've recently discovered their fairly priced lunch specials. I had the poultry with veggies and was pleasantly surprised. Really fast service too. Of course, its already made, but I only had to wait like 3 minutes so this place is definitely ideal for the Mill Valleyian needing to be in and out in a jiffy. read more

altho the restaurant looks suspiciously the same as its recent incarnation, this place is a solid step up before. portions are hearty, vegetables are fresh and plentiful, and prices are, while not cheap, good for the area. still falls short of our eternal quest for reasonable marin chinese. the sauce for the mixed vegetables was tasty.... as it was when it re-appeared in the black mushrooms/vegatables dish. the chicken in general tso's was dry. the chow mein was weirdly tasteless, altho the noodles were perfectly cooked. I may try again. prices are so reasonable, it'd be shame not to return. read more

There are so many reasons to love this place. I live in Mill Valley and make it a point to go in with the whole family because we always have a positive experience. The kids love eating here and so does my mother. The owner evens remembers what we like to order and greets you as if you were family. It really is top-notch service. I thought this place was Lily Kai when I called, even though it wasn't the restaurant I thought I decided to give this restaurant a try. Horrible decision. Although the women in front was very nice the food I got was God awful. The chicken sucked, the broccoli was bad. I ended up eating a few bites and give the rest to my dog. That bad. I have never felt a need to write a review on a restaurant before. Until my family took take out from Lam's Kitchen. The beef broccoli is to die for! So good and the broccoli cooked perfectly. I've been going to Lam's Kitchen twice a week since they opened. May is the sweetest hostess and always recognizes my voice and greets me by name because I get takeout, living close by. The food is always fresh, hot, and very tasty, and the entire staff is friendly and hard working. This is a real gem in a town that has overpriced restaurants. I've lived in Mill Valley for 66 years now and it's my favorite. read more

No ramp, only steep stairs. Asked for help getting in and neither of two people I called to would help. They should have a way for people who can't climb stairs to get in, or at least lend a hand if they don't. It's 2014 not 1814! Took my custom elsewhere and you should too. read more

Also, I have an unfortunate digestive tract and have many limitations which this establishment always tends to those needs. My son and I eat here or carry out 2 or 3 times a week. May, the owner/waitress, always greets us by name and always knows our favorite dishes and knows how we customize them. The food is very fresh, and made to order lightning fast. The vegetables are never overcooked and have that snap to them that proves the freshness of their ingredients. The beef can sometimes (but not always) be a little on the tough side, but it is a value priced restaurant in a very expensive area. read more

Fried rice tasty. Tried the pork and veggie. It's the seasoned rice (dark) rather than the white. Egg rolls good and salt and pepper spare ribs cut into small pieces but good. Very good value. Friendly staff. read more
