I am a huge fan of this place -- always have been. I like the service, I like the seating, and I LOVE the sushi. I'm not a big bubble tea fan so I seldom ever order it, but I do love their homemade ginger ale and their passionfruit orange soda is lovely in the way of drinks. They also make pretty expeptionally good thai iced tea. Anyway, back to the sushi: they have some interesting rolls and great vegetarian selections and their tamago is lovely. Outside of sushi, I love love LOVE their curry -- giant bowls and hard to stop eating, I love their calamari (comes with mango sauce), love their agedashi tofu (the marinade is so incredible), love their pork spring rolls more than almost anything, and I wish they still had duck udon noodles. Finally, in the way of desert, their chocolate wontons with mandarin orange sorbet could bring Jesus back from the dead. Yes really. read more

Got really good vibes from this place! Having lived in Philly for the past four years where there's a significantly sized Chinatown, I've definitely missed the more casual boba eateries, as Miami's Asian food scene is high-end, sushi-dominant. That being said, LAN has its own boba window! Their boba isn't overly sweet either; in fact, the green tea boba is only mildly so which is refreshing since I'm used to having to order half sugar. While I wouldn't say the food is super authentic, I actually don't mind because it's much healthier in general. We tried the beef flat noodles which came with an impressive amount of vegetables and was relatively light on oil. LAN has a nice loyalty program too, so I'll definitely be back to claim my free Thai donuts and try out more of their menu! (P.S. It's right by the Dadeland North metro station.) read more

I don't drink bubble tea but you can't help but see a lot of people enjoying them and this includes my girlfriend who loves their bubble tea. The atmosphere is usually pretty cool and not very loud. Love this place! Everything I have ever eaten here has been delicious. Came by here today for lunch and even though the place was busy and full, the service was exceptional. Was seated right away, and the waitress came right over. I already knew I wanted the Fillipino rice bowl so ordering was fast. I was actually surprised at how fast my order came out. As usual it was amazing. The pork was so delicious and my fried egg was cooked perfectly over the rice and noodles. This is a big bowl but I managed to just about finish it. To top this meal off I got a jasmine bubble tea to go. I love their bubble tea!!! So fresh and enjoyable if u like bubble tea :) I will come here again and again. NOTE: This review is for their boba only. On the hunt for boba in the area, and I'm told there's only about two places. I've already tried one and was not impressed. This was my last chance to satisfy the boba fan in me. Roll up into a parking deck (side survey question: do you call it a deck or a garage?) and walk up to the side window of the restaurant, conveniently and strategically located near the elevators. Nice. I picked a caramel milk tea with boba. Now, before I go on, you must know that I compare ALL boba places to one back in my home city of Tampa. So far none has surpassed it. Only one has stood up to par. Lan Pan is now the second on the list to level out to my favorite boba spot. My caramel mlik tea was super sweet, but I love it that way. The boba itself was just the right amount of chewiness to say that it wasn't over- or undercooked. They also give you a generous helping of the boba, so you don't run out before your drink does. This is by far my favorite Asian cuisine place in Miami. Prices are great, sushi and sashimi are always high quality and fresh. My wife always gets the small sashimi plate and I have tried several rolls and several larger plates. My favorite is the Mongolian beef followed by the garlic beef tataki. Lan is probably the best deal in Miami when you want some fresh, good Thai/Pan-Asian food that has friendly atmosphere and good service. Really good sushi specials (I like their non-raw sushi rolls) and curry dishes (try their Curry Vermicelli noodles). Their lunch specials are a steal--you have lunch entrees that include a salad, soup, california rolls, for btw. $8-$12. It's a good sign when you come during lunch or dinner and there's always people willing to wait for a table. But their best stuff is their bubble tea. Not too bad...can't complain for Miami Asian food standards...:) Their calamari appetizer is goooooddd! :) I recommend that. The food itself is alright...I had the spicy mapo tofu which I have to say...big disappointment. I think I make a more authentic one myself! And they charge extra for brown rice, so take note! This place is more like 3 1/2 stars. I came here just last week (I use to come here often when I lived in Miami) and some of their dishes are good and some are average. At the end of the meal, I always order the passionfruit creme brulee and this was the first time that it was just ok. The tart taste of the passionfruit was barely there and the custard seemed lukewarm. I don't know, it wasn't the same. The ambience is very modern and nice and the service is great. This review is solely for the bubble tea. I was very unsatisfied. 2.5 stars. Ordered the milk tea with pearls. The pearls and the execution itself ruined it. How? Firstly, the lid. Bad foresight, as it was not secure, popping off easily. Displeasing as I was attempting to enjoy it in a car. Also, the straw barely came over the lid as I continued to drink the beverage. Secondly, the straw in relation to the boba. Get straws the pearls can fit through! Only half of them did, if that. Finally, the pearls themselves. Slimy, and that's appalling. Overly chewy, sometimes hard and often pretty powdery in the middle. When I'm splurging on a treat, I want it to be a treat... which is clearly not my experience. read more

This place is AWESOME! Came here after a long shopping day at target and BBB... so happy we tried it here. It was GREAT! We ordered Red Beef Curry (delish!), flat noodles with chicken (100%), Garlic Rice bowl (soooo yummy!!!)! For dessert we got the donuts (yahhhhs!!!) and the fried ice cream (double yahhhhs!). Lan Pan is a generally inexpensive, not very authentic or pretending to be, Pan Asian place. Some things to like here, others not so much. Works out to a three star for me. Starting with the good -- the food is quite tasty, especially considering how inexpensive it is and how huge the portions are. I ordered the Korean BBQ bowl (had brown rice for $1 more). Liked it. It also came with excellent miso soup and a very large side salad that I barely touched. I'd definitely order the Korean BBQ bowl again. But the bubble tea. Ooof. It is abysmal. I started out ordering the mango green tea, no milk. Really quite bad. It turns out that the mango bubble tea is made with the addition of a mango puree (rather than a powder or a syrup). This didn't work at all. I had to send this back (our server was very responsive to this request). I then tried the peach green tea, no milk, after our server confirmed that this one was not made with a puree. This was still not good. It was not mixed together when it came to the table. There was no balance to the sweetness versus the other flavors. And it was room temperature with just a couple of ice cubes floating in it. I asked for more ice to add to it. This helped a little. But it was still very unbalanced tasting and the flavors not good. I got the impression that the bubble tea here is made with the kind of syrups used to flavor coffee, rather than the bubble tea-specific flavorings that I've liked elsewhere (the much superior Dumpling King comes to mind). read more

I have been going to Lan's for over 7 years and of course have my favorite dishes - Papaya Salad, Calamari with Mango Sauce, Pinenut Crusted Snapper, Beef Tataki and Miami Heat roll. You can never go wrong with those dishes - nor should you attempt to eat them on your own! I've been here a couple of times after that and I've enjoyed it every time. I haven't had the sushi, but I've pretty much tried everything else. Recently I've ordered the Sesame chicken which was perfectly cooked. It had a nice sesame sweetness with a nice kick that isn't too spicy. The servings are rather large. I don't think I've ever been able to finish anything from the "Larger Plates". My girlfriend usually orders the lemon grass chicken or the garlic chicken. She really likes both. I personally prefer the taste of the garlic/lemon grass to be stronger. I also recommend trying out the bubble teas. Its just fun to drink with the little boba balls (which are made from tapioca) at the bottom. If you are hungry and are in shopping in the area I would definitely go here. Very pleased. 1) Convenience - a solid lunch in the middle of your shopping/errand schedule. 2) Service- They seem to encourage using any waitress. They all stand together scanning the room for wandering eyes. This was my 3rd visit to Lan Pan. In years past, I had eaten here twice for lunch w/ relatives. Last night was a first for dinner. My husband & I split the crunchy (mildly) spicy avocado-wrapped tuna roll...YUM!...followed by Galangal Scallops w/ brown rice...another YUM!! The husband enjoyed a (new-for-him) beer: "Monk in the Trunk" and I tried a (new-to-me) Tamara Plum Wine. When the server put the glass at my place, I was immediately hit with a lovely aroma of "cherries". I enjoyed inhaling the fragrance for several minutes before taking an hypnotic first sip! It was sweet, fruity & refreshing w/out being "icky". Sharing both items was more-than-enough for each of us; perhaps because we chose brown (vs white) rice, which was perfectly sticky for hanging onto the scallop entré. Actually, we had planned on sharing a bubble tea but decided against, not having enough room to truly enjoy it. Although the prices were somewhat higher than what we would pay in our neck of the woods (outside D.C.)...it wasn't crazy. Our server was a sweetheart! She recommended both menu items & was quite invested in our satisfaction. She was warm & friendly, able to answer all of our questions, and very attentive w/out being intrusive. Located in the Dadeland station shopping center, you will find the Lan Pan Asian cafe that been there for years. Last night while we were attempting to finish our Christmas shopping so we decided to have some dinner there. We were seated within five minutes and the waitress took our order and we decided to go for our usual sushi choices, tuna rolls, California rolls, spicy tuna rolls, spider rolls, and the dragon rolls. For me the best one were the regular tuna roll which is the basic rice and tuna rolled into a seaweed wrap, however it was also wrapped with scallion. I loved the combination with the scallion because it give more flavor to the roll. The California roll was good but I ask them to include masago which is small orange fish eggs and the waitress told me they needed to charge an extra $1 surcharge. The spicy tuna is similar to the basic tuna roll except the actual tuna is marinated in a spicy dressing. The spider roll and the dragon rolls are a soft shelled crab and shrimp fried or tempura and then rolled with rice and cut to rolls. I was not impressed by the either rolls because it had taste of fried grease and not of the crab or shrimp. Overall this place is not bad, but not even close to being one of the best sushi joints in Miami. read more

I've been to Lan a couple of times. The few things worth getting: -Green Wonton Rolls: an vegetarian tempura sushi roll with asparagus, other vegetables and cream cheese. It's honestly the best sushi I've ever had. -Curry Rice Vermicelli: it's a noodle dish with yellow curry, noodles, fried shrimp, veggies and chinese sausages. I could do without the sausages. The dish is great, though, I wish it would just be curry noodles and shrimp. But that's just me. I'd put curry powder into anything. -Mushroom Wonton: a simple tempura wonton with mushrooms in it. Pretty good appetizer. -Taro Milk Bubble Tea: a delicious companion to a great, full meal. If you don't like boba, you can have the tea without it. Decor is pretty modern and the locale isn't too bad. It's in Dadeland station. And I haven't been during lunch, but I hear it's pretty much the best lunch special you can get in Miami. Not sure if that's true... but I'm always down for cheap lunch. read more

So this place may not seem so special. There are a lot of items on the menu and some may not even be that great. But there are a few on there that are outstanding and get you coming back again and again. For instance, the vegetarian spring rolls are great. They're guiltless pleasures as they look healthy. Peanut sauce leaves you licking the dish. The sushi here isn't out of the ordinary. It does it's job. What is amazing are their curry plates. The Red Curry Beef is amazing. The broth makes you wish they served bread at this place so you can at least have an excuse to clean the plate without looking like a madman. The Lemon Grass Chicken is good if you're looking to get full. They give you a lot of meat on that one. Any of the curry plates are good actually. It makes you keep coming back and ordering the same ones. Service is good too. I don't ever have to wait to be seated. Orders are taken promptly. That is of course if you avoid the crowds. I really like this place for lunch! You get a good portion of food and it is very tasty. I chose the salmon dish which was delicious, it had a glazed teriyaki flavor. Given the size of the salmon, it isn't very big, but it's good and with the rest of the food you get with it you really can't complain. You start off with miso soup, a plate with some salad and rolls on the side. There's a choice for an extra $1 for the rolls to be made with brown rice which is great for those watching their type of carb intake. We ordered Asian nachos that although the presentation isn't appealing the taste of the pork is good. Def. enjoyed that appetizer and I can't wait to order more. read more

The food was good. It wasn't amazing, incredible, blow my mind quality. Everything is very reasonably priced and the sushi ranges from $5-$10. That's good in price, but being a big sushi fan it also tasted like $5-$10 sushi. We got the spicy tuna roll, Miami Heat roll and the tuna tartare roll (?). Even though the last two were topped and covered in a sauce it still tasted bland to me. But again, it didn't aggravate me because the price was on the lower end. We also ordered the Korean BBQ rice meal. Now that had a substantial amount of steak and was full of flavor! The only other thing that added to me only giving it 3 stars is because we had ordered it delivery and they gave us zero utensils/chopsticks and not even one cup of soy sauce. For like an entire year, I worked in Coral Gables. During this time, I spent a lot of time coming and going via the Metrorail. Sometimes, after a day of hard work, I'd stop by "Lan Pan" to enjoy a delicious meal. I'm going to be honest: their menu is pretty hit and miss. The thing here is that their hits are overwhelmingly awesome. As many people who have reviewed before me have already testified to, you would be a complete slackjaw to not try the Korean BBQ rice -- it's delicious. Ask for extra kimchee and go to town. Their Thai Iced Tea is very delicious (I'm not a huge fan of bubbles, sorry), the service is very good, and they do have some really good noodle dishes. I think their sashimi is underwhemingly small for the price they charge -- if you want sashimi, you are better served eating at Miyako's or Shibui. The sushi is strictly okay -- but thankfully, you aren't here for that. Are you? (If you are, you've misplayed. Hard.) So yes, four stars on the strength of Korean BBQ Rice and Thai Iced Tea alone. I have twenty six check ins here and for good reason. The sushi here is fresh and priced well. The servers know us and it feels like home when we go. The best bubble tea in the state, and we have been looking so the statement holds water. Specials are always changing and so is my order every time I go. I rarely order the same thing, except for Taro snow bubble tea which is like a delicious taro smoothie. The taro bubble is heavy so I would consider that if you want to order a lot. read more
