I custom ordered a Range Rover sport in November. I had the sales associate enter the order in front of me + confirm it with an image the following day via text message + confirm numerous times on delivery times. Six months later, in May, I received a text message that my car arrived. The car that arrived was NOT the one that I ordered. So one of three things happened 1) order was entered incorrectly - this seemed highly unlikely since I saw the order entered in front of me, and I have confirmation of the image from the website showing all the appropriate options and order details the following day WITH a confirmation number for the order 2) someone changed my order - this seemed highly unlikely given the car presented to me has a lower MSRP than my order which wouldn't make sense 3) my order was purposely canceled to allow allocation for a higher margin order from someone else ... and I would get stuck with a generic black on caraway (mine was also black on caraway which is a popular combo but with specific upgrades and options I chose) that was arriving within a two month window of the original stated order, and hopefully would just accept the car To be fair, I suppose there's one more possibility which is complete and utter incompetence from top down at this dealership. Now I have to order again and wait another six months for my car. Of course I wouldn't dare make the same mistake twice by dealing with this dealership. Btw I don't want to enter names of the individuals I dealt with because I don't know who actually screwed up the order either by accident, or cancelled it on purpose to allow room for another order from someone else. Other than the incompetence, or shadiness, that led to my original order not arriving... the venue is actually pretty decent and the staff otherwise seemed nice. My advice: if placing a deposit for a new order, get a written guarantee that the car will arrive or there is a financial penalty. Otherwise, there's a chance you might go through a similar experience. read more

I had a very frustrating time with their parts department. Called to inquire about a part and nobody picked up the phone after many rings. I called back again and left a message for a call back. No one called back. Tried again the following day and was connected to Carlos who gave me the info that I needed, but the price was very high, so I told him I would get back to him after shopping around. I left two messages for Carlos the following day, and he never called back. I drove in to place an order the following day in person and there was nobody there in the parts counter. I stood around and was ignored by everyone in the area. After waiting for 15 minutes, Aaron came out and asked me what I needed. Then he left and didn't come back. After waiting another 15 minutes, I decided that Galpin was not very interested in my business and left. Customer service is not their priority. read more

Purchased a new Land Rover Defender on Memorial Day 2025. It immediately had computer glitches on the drive home and the InControl system would not work. I dropped it back off to Galpin Service with a detailed list of what wasn't functioning. 2 weeks later they tried to return it to me without addressing any concerns. Repair Order paperwork simply stated software update performed, nothing else verified. Service Advisor "Edmond" was useless, said he was just doing his job and reporting the vehicle ready for pickup. I pointed out that I couldn't even log into the "InControl" system. Eventually, he said they would keep it in service and contact JLR engineering team in the UK to troubleshoot. A MONTH later I was informed the vehicle was ready for pickup again. They gave no details on any work performed. I called to ask. They would not disclose what work, if any, was done on it. Service manager "Henry" instantly took an adversarial stance on anything I said. Dear Henry is the primary reason for this review. Apparently Henry and service advisor Edmond have a long negative history from working together in past dealerships. A quick internet search reveals Edmond has actually sued Henry at a previous dealership. Did this complicate my vehicle repair? All I know is they are both at fault. But Henry more so, as he's in charge. At wits end with them, I spoke with the GM who finally agreed to edit my repair order so at least it verified the InControl system error. He refused to change anything else. Unfortunately, it also stated the concern was corrected after a software update, which is a flat-out LIE. Demonstrable. And they knew it. They all knew it. The GM just kept repeating to me how they're a "Family-Owned business" as if this excused everything. The Godfather movie also featured a family-owned business, didn't it? In the end, Henry rudely insisted I pick up the vehicle, stating: "they had had it long enough," and "it was time to pick it up." I was left with no choice, and so I took it to the Riverside Land Rover dealership who were exemplary. A few months later JLR bought the vehicle back under California Lemon Law because the InControl system could not be fixed. All the folks at Galpin had to do was be honest and properly document my Repair Order paperwork. Instead they lied and doctored the paperwork to cover their butts. Dishonest behavior and absolute disrespect for their clientele. This was my SECOND luxury vehicle purchased at JLR Van Nuys. And now it is my last. read more

To make matters worse, they told me I would have to take the car back to the original dealership where I purchased it, which is 65 miles from my home.
