Landrys is a bike shop I've been going to since the mid 90's when they were located in Westborough in another location; there was a combined ski shop when I first started shopping them. Since first using Landry's for my cycling needs, the current location is the fourth in Westborough they've occupied. I've formed excellent working relationships with Staff over the years, including a few managers I've gotten to know; Mark, Chris, Allison and currently Russ. All excellent people. I had the occasion to take my Fondriest road bike, recently, to have parts replaced and to get my bike ride ready. Everyone I encountered along the way was very professional, knowledgeable and caring. There was a bump in the road concerning Campagnolo brifters and gearing, yet the service manager and Russ went the extra mile to fix the issue to get me back on the road quickly. Matt Richer is the literal best. I can't get over how awesome, patient and knowledgeable he is. I 1000% recommend doing a fit with him after you purchase your new bike! If you don't know - a fit/fitting ensures your bike measurements are correct and you're not in unnecessary pain when riding. He takes his time to make sure you feel comfortable, makes adjustments and he has helped me improve my performance. Literally improved my pace by several miles per hour. It's completely worth the money, and he's also just a cool guy and truly not trying to upsell you. Also to be clear, I'm new to cycling. Probably would've hurt myself without the help. Nice store, but you lost a customer today. Walked in, one other customer browsing. Walked up to the, I assume salesperson at the counter and asked "do you have any new or used internal hub bicycles in stock?" Suprised he said he did not know, but would checkl. I said fine, I'll browse around while you check. No so big a store. Never out of ear shot and kept watching him for a sign. Went back to the counter and he was helping someone else now behind the counter with him. Never acknowledged me while I waited a minute. So I left. As a long time sales manager and business owner, I suggest you deal with one customer at a time. I may and may not have bought a bike today, but neither of us will ever know. read more

I have been coming to Landry's since I moved to the area. I have been to bike shops that feel uppity and look down on your for different reasons, and this is not one of them. The staff truly wants you to have a good experience and will work with you; I've never felt like I was "just a sale." Over the years I have purchased three bikes here (one for me, my wife and my son), as well as had bikes repaired and bought gear. All of my interactions have been amazing. Bought a bike at a yard sale. Called Landry's on the phone to see if they could put air in a tire that I didn't have an adapter for and grease the gears. They said come in and they would fix the flat and show me how to grease the gears, no worries. Came in and was greeted by several people. Jac took a look at the bike and suggested new tires as the old ones were truly flaking/stripping off. In ten minutes time she had new tires on the bike with an adapter. Conversation with her and a co-worker quickly revealed that they are truly bike-geeks who know their stuff. Sounded like employees in this store do everything biking, camping, marathon, and triathlon. Best thing, they didn't make me feel wimpy for wanting to do flat bike trail riding and even suggested the Nashua River rail trail as a good place to start. read more

Recently I had two bikes tuned at Landry's. Russ recommended that on one of them the suspension components get a full overhaul. Although I had sticker shock at the estimate I gave the green light and the work came out to $150 below the initial estimate. The bike is perfect now! Overall, Landry's is an awesome place. People working there really know their bikes. They never pressure you to buy, and their shop is the best around. Also, they have tons of group rides, etc. Can't go wrong with Landry's! read more

I stopped yesterday just before the store closed... My bike needed a quick fix and it was urgent as I am leaving for a bike tour this week. I got at the store at 5:58pm (the store closes at 6pm) and the door was. still unlocked. I was greeted by Ethen who asked me what my issue was. A simple stripped screw: without replacing it, I could not pack my bike. He could have easily told me the store was closed, but no, he wanted to help me. I explained that I was leaving that Friday and needed help... Ethen took my bike to help solve the issue. He went looking for and found a replacement screw. After a few minutes, he determined that he needed help. He called Max who was in the back store. Max took a look at my issue (a stripped screw) and took his time to fix it. After replacing the screw, I asked Max how much I owed them. He replied: "Do not worry about it. I like solving problems like this" I left the store around 6:25pm. This was customer service at its very best. My experience with the Landry team has always been great! read more

Went to the consignment sale today to get a "new " bike for our child. We were able to get a great Trek bike, looks like it had never been ridden, for $100. Yes, lines were long. Yes there were tons of people. But it was worth it to save money on a good quality bike that our child will outgrow in 2 years time. read more

I brought my bike in on several occasion to be serviced and customer service is good. As for the repairs, it was unsatisfactory and questionable. Last year, I had a wreck and replaced my entire front tire, rim and tube. Fast forward a year, my tire blew out, luckily I wasn't riding it and had to make an emergency stop at another bike shop in the area. When the tech removed the tire and tube, he told me that the rim strip which protects the tube from the bolts on the rim was missing!!!!! I can't believe how careless Landry's repair was and it could have caused a major injury if the tire blew while I was riding. Furthermore, I had other issues with my bike that I had Landry look at a few times but was told there's nothing they can do except for me to buy a new bike. The other bike shop was able to resolve the problem with a few tweaks and my bike runs so smooth. In other words, I found a new bike repair shop to go to out of this experience. I would say this place is more about selling than repairing. They seem to always recommend a new bike over repairs. I can not recommend coming here for service or repairs. read more

I hate to leave a negative review about a local business where we bought my daughter's first and second bike. Unfortunately, we had TWO negative and dangerous situations after receiving repairs from Landry's in Westborough. First, in adjusting the brakes on my seven-year-old daughter's bike, they repaired them so that they needed to be squeezed tightly to stop the bike. When we went to adjust her brakes ourselves, we noticed the brake line was frayed to the point that when we touched it, it just feel right off. Second, in repairing an adult bike and adding new tires etc, all of which cost over $400.00s, when I road across the state for a bike ride fresh from leaving the store, the tires were flat a minute into the ride. Looks like the situation was due to negligence--the inner-tire was not replaced, although this was requested. When these issues were brought to the attention of the store, they showed no indication of care or concern, leaving me with the only option of coming to yelp to share my experience. read more

Some of the worst customer service in a bike shop! So I've been mountain biking for about 15 years, and I know some of the basics of bicycle type and the features associated with them. My friend and I went to Landry's to get a bike for her. She is just starting riding again and not really sure what bike she wanted. After talking to the staff member for a few minutes he presented a Trek hybrid bike. A nice bike, but he would not show her anything else! He took her out back to let her try said bike and I took a moment to peek at the bikes in the back area, and saw within a moment at least three different models that she should have been shown, although they were less expensive than the one he offered. Selling the most expensive bike you can get someone to buy is NOT service. I will not shop here, nor will my friend. Bicycle Alley or Fritz's will actually try to service you, rather than rip you off. read more

I've been a bike shop rat for about 25 years now and have visited the majority of stores in Eastern, MA, often multiple times, so I feel pretty qualified reviewing this store. I also bought a Fatboy from Landry's this winter. First, I'm surprised people flagged it as $$$. Yes, it's cheaper to buy a lot of parts online (and occasionally I do) but Landry's doesn't stick out to me as more expansive than most other stores which generally sell items for slightly less than MSRP. The common items carried by any shop all all the same. They've brought in some experience with a new manager (Mike) who is, for the vast majority of the time, the only mechanic to touch my bike and certainly the only one I trust enough to hand my credit card and say, "just get it ready for spring". Like any bike shop, avoid the weekend crowds if you can. Gear Works in Leomonster was an awesome shop until they went out of business this week. The only other store I'd recommend checking out is Cannondale (I bought a CADDX from this last fall) but, of course, your manufacturer selection is limited. Happy riding! read more

We both got bikes from Landrys recently (among other gear) and had the best service from everyone involved. We first walked in to check out bikes and Curt helped us with some sizing etc. He was very knowledgeable about the bikes and super patient with us newbies. We decided to do the bike fittings and went back for those a week later. I had mine with Brandon and the DH had his with Allison. Both Brandon and Allison are super knowledgeable on the bikes, and gave us a wealth of information during the fitting. The whole staff was awesome, the selection is great (there were a few things we needed that they didnt have in stock but were able to order for us), I think the prices are fair considered with other places we looked. I would highly suggest getting the bike fitting for first timers, as it really helped me out since I have not been on a bike in over 12 years. I am completely happy with my bike and experience at this Landrys and would recommend them to everyone! read more

Just read the reviews, they are not wrong, when I was going here I always walked away thinking I'm getting ripped off, they wanted to replace my cables and chain every single year for my 1-2x tune ups. I stopped going here back in 2010. So it seems like the same situation still exists based on the majority of the reviews. read more

I ordered a new bike from the Westboro store and it was in stock in Newton. I paid the money and they were going to ship the bike to the Westboro store . I called them the day after I was supposed to pick up the bike, they said they don't know where the bike is but I will get an email saying its ready. I tried calling them for 5 more days after that but no one picked up, left a bunch of voicemails but no one responded. I finally started a chat online but the guy said the bike was not available anymore(probably someone else bought it and they didn't honor my order before shipping to Westboro) . Now if I had known this would happen I would have driven down to newton and got the bike myself. I understand they are super busy but a courtesy call to let me know that my bike isn't available anymore even after I paid the money is not much to ask. My advise would be to either avoid them or if the bike is available in a different location just go get it yourself read more

Seemed simple enough: went to buy a new bike. Pleasant salesperson Allison asks all the right questions and gives me a selection to test drive. I decide on a bike and buy it. The bike is in stock at the warehouse and will be ready tomorrow! Or not. A week goes by with no call from Landry's. A visit to the store reveals that my bike did come in the next day... at which time they promptly sold it to someone else. Since there was only one in stock they will be special ordering me another one and it might be here next week... or the week after... they don't really know. Why did they tell me it would be ready in a day? Well sir we don't really know where the communication breakdown happened. Did they think they should call me when they realized they gave away my bike? [blank stare] Positive aspect: getting my money back was fast and easy. Shop somewhere else. read more

Landry's gears it's products, staff and repair services towards high bikes and the multi sport athlete. If you are recreational biker or family you can find cheaper and equivalent services and products. I recently brought my son's mountain bike in for a repair and replacement of brakes on a bike purchased from there. It's a very good bike that gets used a lot. The service on the bike was completed but there was not QC check made on the bike and the breaks didn't stop the bike. After citing this while at the store I brought it home where I confirmed the bike would not stop. The most disappointing aspect of this story was the response from the store which 1) said "it's functioning and 2) tried to redirect the cause back to the rider (my 12 year old son). To me functioning means it stops and not "I see parts moving". Ultimately the bike was repair to working status with an additional part. I have no issue with the addition part,but it's the response from the store that disappoints. My beef is that an unsafe bike should not leave the store or it shoujld be identified. If it were a high end bike it this would not happen. It's a just a $350 Trek mountain bike that I want to maintain. I will not be purchasing my kids next replacement bikes from this store. read more

On Monday we returned to Landry's Bicycle's and had an incredible experience. We came in specifically to look at Mtn Bike shoes and store manager Brandon spent time explaining the pro's and con's of the many pairs they offer. He gave excellent guidance to make sure I got a perfect fit with the best performance without breaking the bank. That required ordering a size they did not have in stock. We also looked at helmets and tried on several different types and with each one he explained the pro's and con's and gave his honest opinion. At no time did we feel rushed even thou the store was close to closing and by the time we left had closed. I would recommend Landry's and specifically Brandon for any bicycle needs you might have. read more

What does that mean, an example you want. look into your old used bike on sale for $280. Can my daughter tried out she brought a helmet. No it's as is. Can I return it? No no returns as is. OK well let me see if it's a good deal. MSRP brand-new on the bike $310. That's right MSRP. OK so you're saving me 10% on a two-year-old USED bike with no warranty no returns. Nice store but everything is overpriced and ran by a bunch of kids. It seems as some of them have some knowledge but lack the professionalism I expect when considering a $1000+ pruchase. I have been in this store several times now and 90% of the time the person I spoke with wasn't familiar with what I wanted to purchase. Whether is was a bicycle, tires, or accessory the lack of product knowledge is just astounding. I guess that's what happens when you hire a bunch of kids to run your shop. Bottom line: Unless you want to pay more than you should, and get crappy service, find another shop. And oh, BTW, the other Landry's locations are pretty much the same. read more

I had a great experience at Landry's. Every staff member I dealt with couldn't have been nicer. They listened to what I wanted and ordered a few bikes for me to try out. I needed the bike quickly to start training for a triathlon but also wanted to take advantage of the tax free weekend and Landry's was able to accommodate me. I would have given them 5 stars, except their prices are a little high. However, if you buy a bike from them you get a free fitting and any accessories installed for free. This might not be worth it for a recreational bike, but it was a great deal for me. I did not feel pressured to buy at all, and am very pleased I decided to buy from Landry's. read more

The service guys are pretty good but expect to pay top dollar for anything you need repaired. I give 2 stars because it took them 2 months to repair a broken spoke and even after that the wheel still was untrue. Apparently they just popped the new spoke in and forgot to ensure the wheel was right. Not what I would expect from a professional shop. I bought my bike at Landry's a few weeks ago. I am just getting back into cycling and needed a lot of help. I did some research on-line and they had a nice selection of the bikes I was interested in. Two fellows in particular were incredibly helpful. Kevin, who set me up on many, many bikes to try......and then try them all again. He is really knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the different bikes, and was able to answer every single question I threw at him. He has the patience of a saint. Thank you Kevin! After purchasing my bike, I had a fitting with Brandon. I was a little unsure if I really needed a fitting, but I have to say that after riding the bike for 2 weeks I am very happy with it. It was worth it to get the fit I now have on my bike. My handlebars and seat needed to be swapped out and the bike fits me like a glove. I love the bike more each time I ride it. Thank you Brandon! I looked at two other bike shops before deciding to purchase my bike at Landry's. I felt like I had a better selection of bikes to trial, and knowledgeable staff to deal with. Worst customer service I've experienced in a bike shop. Went in to buy some accessories: pedals, shoes, shorts, shirt, etc. Had one guy help me with the shoes only to walk away 2 minutes later to help another customer. After I waited around for 5 minutes or so, another guy offered to help. Lo and behold, he walks away to help another customer a few minutes later. After waiting for him to back for about 20 minutes, I just left. Maybe I would've been treated better were I buying a bike but I'm not so sure. I took my business to Trek Stop in Grafton where the prices are better and the customer service was excellent as well. Not to mention the prices at Landry's aren't very good. Just drive a couple of minutes up route 9 to Bicycle Barn, where the bikes are about 10-15% cheaper. read more

I called Landrys for a bike for an upcoming charity ride for fallen police officers to help build a memorial in Boston and raise awareness of the sacrifices of brother officers. I called the shop and was redirected to the marketing guy, a MR Johnson, I got an email back that they are already maxed out for their charity events ( already in January for the year ) I only wanted to borrow a bike, nothing more. I was told that they would gladly sell me a bike. Nice seems as though the only good reviews they get are from people buying their bikes and filling their pockets. Sounds like self interest. They gladly do the PMC, which is nice, but it is allot of free advertising and they will sell allot of bikes down the road to riders and people who see them, marketing/advertising read more
