I never really equated Disney with a relaxing spa experience but this spa is ahmaaazing. Really. My 3 teen daughters and I booked an Ohana package and it was unbelievably memorable from the moment you check in until you leave. No exaggeration. You're escorted through the entry narrated with a beautiful story through a lovely walkway with a magically lit round pool and asked to choose symbolic stones, which they tie full circle at the end of your experience when you leave the spa with a symbolic correlating gift. Words don't do it justice. Sounds cheesy but really a special experience, especially when going through it with loved ones. My 3 daughters and I enjoyed every second of it - the amenities are better than almost every spa I've been to - Terranea in So Cal, various Four Seasons, spas in Europe, etc. I never would have imagined the sophistication and tranquility at a Disney spa, but this spa did not disappoint. The Ohana room had two massage tables and opened up to a private lanai for the other two in your family. The 4 technicians who massaged my family were all equally outstanding. The amenities in the spa were phenomenal - the three hot jacuzzis with different ranges in temperatures - we especially enjoyed the super hot one next to the ice cold bath. The circle of hydrotherapy outdoor showers were unique and thoroughly enjoyable. The custom scented bath scrubs they made for you as a gift and the bath salts they give you at the end were unexpected touches that reflects all of the thought and detail Disney invested into this spa. My girls and I enjoyed sipping our smoothies under the canopy of trees in a luxurious cabana - Passion Orange Guava, Orangsicle, pina colada and Strawberry banana. Did I mention the tasty snacks? Not just spa type of nuts and fruits - they offered that as well, but also complimentary muffins topped with mini macarons & oatmeal cookies. I am a fan of the decor. It was absolutely spacious and luxurious! Hello...it IS Disney! The staff was absolutely friendly. My daughter and I made a reservation the day before to have our nails done and they were very kind and gentle with her and friendly with me. I would definitely go back there to experience more of their services. I just hope they adjust their prices a little bit. To do the Minnie Me Nail Package (polish for fingers and toes) was about $40! read more

My husband and I had the package which included the scrub and 50 min massage. The scrub was fine but the massage was fantastic - we both thought it was one of the best we had ever had. Kudos to our massage therapists! The area was nice as well. We enjoyed the different pools and showers and relaxation room. In the outside area there were used towels that no one bothered to pick up, but that was a small issue and did not affect my experience. The cast members take you on a journey from beginning to end, and make the guest feel important/ a sense of urgency during their time at the LaniWai Spa. Matthew was our greeter, who was not only knowledgeable but very kind as well! I bought the Honi Honi package, where Laurie greeted me. The masseuses are well educated and knowledgeable asking guest if the pressure quality is okay. For the Honi Honi package, the facility is well kept giving guess a nice ambiance. Guests are asked to choose from four different senses for lotions before being asked to undress comfortably and lying down on a warm covered table. The music choice really rounded out the massage experience (if you grew up with 90's Local Hawaiian music, you'd appreciate the music selection!) Take advantage of what the facility has to offer. For the price point please try everything from the pineapple water to the amenities. Don't be afraid to tailor you're experience to you're wants and needs. This was my first full spa experience and it was beyond great. Beatriz did a great job with my organic facial. I'm always concerned because I have allergies and sensitive skin. My husband and I came here as a treat for our honeymoon. I'm going with three stars because while I enjoyed it, he hated it. This isn't the first time this has happened. I brought my mom as a treat (you can see a trend here) and she had a very painful experience. At this point, it's a coin toss if you'll enjoy it. The facilities are pretty cool, I'll give you that and they've got tasty little treats which I'm all about, but for the price of the massages I'm not sure it's worth it. It is located at the edge of the hotel in a very quiet place. Gentle and calming decor will relax you as soon as you walk in. The staff will tell you a short story and ask you to pick a rock with a word for the day. You drop the rock in a magical almost surreal pond and your relaxation experience begins. It is very quiet and calming. You truly feel like you have been removed away from the Disney resort and be placed in a another part of the island. If you have the time to step away from your kids for half a day, please give Laniwai a try. It will be an amazing gift to you and your spouse. read more

I am writing this review based on the experiences and the work quality that was performed on my mom (who is 70 years old) for the hair salon and nail services. First of all, I realize that all of these fantastic reviews are for the massages and facials, which I should have just treated myself and my mom to....IT WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER!!!! AND! we would have been able to use the spa facility. So, let's start from the beginning. Months before leading up to the day before when I made the appointment, I went back and forth on what exactly I wanted to treat my mom to from the spa. As, I stated before and as you can see, this spa is rated one of the best in the US!!!! So, of course, I had to have her experience this. Before making this appointment, I tried to find a place outside the resort to get our hair, or at least our nails done. But for everyone who had stayed at AULANI or has researched it, THERE IS NOTHING AROUND. The closest nail salon required a taxi and since I was paying for the entire week trip at AULANI, I didn't want to add a taxi ride to this (turns out I was delusional). I decided on treating her to a haircut, hair color and mani-pedi. The front desk ladies were very nice and courteous. I put the purchase on my Disney key card and told them not to tell her the final amount OF $400!!!!!!! (Yes, I know, there's something about being in an expensive place that once you add one thing, it's easier to just keep adding things without thinking). So, I tell her about the appointment and she didn't really want to do it, but I told her just to go because I wanted to make her feel special since I don't see her that often (maybe once a year). I meet the man who is going to be working on my mom (not naming names because he was really nice), and tell him about my mom and what I would like to see. So, I leave them for the appointment and take a Ukelele class at the lounge while she is there. ANOTHER POINT I need to make is that when you see the pics of the spa, the spa looks absolutely amazing! The hair salon and nail salon area is NOTHING SPECIAL!!!! I go check on her two hours later because I want to take some Facebook pics to document her transformation. She is done with her hair and she is now finishing up her manicure. I look at her hair and AM HORRIFIED!!!!! The haircut looks basic (but hey, when I'm paying $95 for a haircut, why would i expect to be awed???) and the hair color job was ATROCIOUS! The colorist just did a basic black (which is what I hoped he would have strayed from...had I known it was going to be black, i would have just bought a box dye and did it for her myself)....but that wasn't the bad part. The bad part was that there was missing spots of color ALL OVER! Meaning, that there were so many sections of white hair showing it was unbelievable. Trying not to alarm my mom because, well, it's my mom and I want her to like it, I go to the front desk and tell the lady working there. I show her my mom's hair and she goes to get the colorist to show him. He looks at it and soon he reapplies the color. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING at a professional salon, especially at a 4.5 star rated DISNEY SPA!!! Anyways, she is done with her manicure and started then her pedicure while the color sat. I left again since i wasn't about to wait another hour. Roughly 1.5 hours later, she returns to our villa. Her manicure and pedicure were beautifully done. Was it worth $120????? Plus tip? Of course not, but for what it was, the woman did a great job. I looked at her hair, and I'll be damned, the sides of her hair still had white hairs!!! I am not one to continuously cause a stink on something, but maybe I should have! Hair color was $120 for BLACK HAIR COLOR that didn't even cover all the hair! Maybe Laniwai needs to reevaluate the brand of hair color they are using since it is not working on stubborn white hairs. And maybe the salon needs better lighting since the coloring on older woman who have stubborn hair color is not up to par with hair salons that charge half their prices. My mom did see the the receipt of the price I paid when she wasn't supposed to. I guess Disney doesn't value instructions given to them. My experience is to never use LANIWAI for anything other than their massages (well based on the other reviews). You would assume because they had to redue something easily missed by a professional that some sort of discount would be given, or at least a free pass to the spa facilities. But no, TAKE MY $400 dollars and offer me absolutely nothing in return. I shouldn't have to be the one to tell them, you left white patches of hair all over my mom's hair. Chances are, the colorist saw it when he was blow drying my mom's hair, and ignored it simply because she couldn't see the back of her hair. I am appalled. I am a DVC member and I will probably never book LANIWAI appointments ever again, based on the quality of the services provided. read more

I became a spa junky during a random special at the Canyon Ranch Spa at the Venetian. When I moved to Hawaii, I was looking for a spa to eclipse my experience there. On a random vacation at Aulani, I decided to indulge myself at Laniwai Spa, even though it was $50 more than I was comfortable spending. Let me tell ya... the price matched the service, the amenities, the little zucchini-carrot muffins with macaron tops, the friendly staff... (and the Disney Vacation Club upgrade didn't hurt :). I loved it so much I immediately made another appointment that day for a later date, which was this past Thursday. I wanted to make sure the awesomeness that this spa emulated wasn't a fluke. I even brought a few friends with me to get their take. Not only did it continue to have me relaxed and excited, like all things Disney, my friends loved it as well! ( I have to add that our host, Bekah, from Portland who spoke pretty good Japanese, reminded me of Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter, so that was kinda cool (the cross referencing of genres) for me since I'm a geek like that. If this is what heaven is like, then goshdarnit, take me there now!! The new Laniwai Spa (at the Aulani Resort) is just that, a little slice of heaven!! If you are looking for something a bit more than the usual massage/facial day, kick it up a notch and drive your booty (& your girlfriends, too) down to Ko Olina and make a day of it. We did! We had a so-so brunch at the `Ama`ama (Disney, you can do better!) and headed to our magical appointment at the Laniwai Spa. Upon entry, everyone was so nice and welcoming. You literally walk into an enchanted place, but I won't disclose that because I don't want to ruin everything. After a short tour of the facility, we changed into our luxurious Laniwai robes and jelly slippers. They relax you in another room while you wait for your massage. Here there are chaise lounge chairs with the softest chenille blankets and all the antioxidant chocolates and treats and water you can take in. This is just the beginning of this awesome retreat. Disney does not want to mess this up so they are continuously working to make it the best. We got an ohana massage which means all six of the people in my party were in one room. Three start with the massage and the other three started with the foot/leg rub. Halfway through, we switched. (It's hit or miss with whoever you get, but always speak up if you need more pressure!) After the massage, we headed to Kula Wai which is their outdoor hydrotherapy garden. And this isn't your mother's garden, this is a HUGE area with baths, spas, showers (think carwash!), and pools to dip in. Also, you can pay a visit to the Pulu Bar for oils, herbs, scrubs, etc. But Kula Wai is where it's at and for me, and I only wish I had known about it then I could've planned better to stay longer. (See this as your forewarning to allow yourself to hang out for a bit.) (Check out their website because they spa days for couples, families, teenie boppers, and days just for you.) When you are finally ready to head back to your reality, the spa has showers with shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and all other items you need for a refreshing shower to put a stamp of ahhhhh! on your day. *Note: If you spend $35 or more, valet parking is free. read more

This place went above and beyond our expectations. Being Disney goers, we already knew their customer service was top notch, so our expectations were pretty high. We were on our honeymoon and we booked a couple's treatment called the "ohia lehua" which included a full body exfoliation and a massage. So good! And the aromas were amazing! Anyway, if you book a treatment, you get to lounge in the kula Wei which is a 5000 square feet garden with 2 herbal soak tubs, a jacuzzi, a cold water plunge & this area where there are 6 different type of shower heads ( this is where we played the most!). Also the changing/shower/locker room has everything! Lotions, hair spray, hair gel, facial moisturizer, etc. They also have an aromatic steam room and a sauna. What made our session so special was the extra care they gave my new husband and I. We were done with our treatment and were getting ready to shower and leave and they call us. "you're husband is looking for you. He would like to meet you in the relaxation room." my first reaction was to panic because I thought something happened to him or something bad happened back home. So I meet him there and was like "what's up?" acting worried. Thats when the wonderful cast members created a mini Hawaiian wedding ceremony enactment where we put leis (that they just made while we were there) on each other and one of them sang 'when you wish upon a star'. I cried because it reminded me of our wedding day and I was just so amazed at the extra time and care these people took to make our visit even more magical. I definitely recommend going here. Oh, Laniwai. You are what every spa should aspire to be like. The facilities are clean, the staff is friendly and the amenities are amazing. But clearly providing the best spa experience will leave a considerable dent in my already slim wallet. However, if I could afford a $430 couples massage monthly, I would fork over that money and gladly indulge in a monthly spa day with my husband. This was our second visit in two years because we aren't made of money and like last year's visit, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Good: The whole experience was amazing and exactly what I would expect from a Disney resort and spa. From the beginning to the end of our stay at Laniwai, we were greeted with friendly and helpful spa attendants. There was one spa attendant who was very attentive and even came out to give me a cup of water while I was enjoying the outdoor facilities. The outdoor garden is amazing and makes the spa worth the money. You can stay all day out there and enjoy their two soaking tubs, outdoor shower heads, jacuzzi and cold bath. The best part is that it's co-ed, so I was able to enjoy practically the whole spa day with my husband. They also offer a steam room and sauna, both of which are not co-ed. The massage itself was amazing. Last year's massage was not as good, but I had Chenoa this year and she was so good. It was the fastest 50 minutes of my life and she definitely made me like lomi massages again. As for my husband, I upgraded his 50 minute massage to a deep tissue massage (extra $35) and he said he really enjoyed his massage as well. After the massage, they invite you to relax in their co-ed relaxation room where they offer a snack table filled with fruits, nuts, pretzels and muffins. I really appreciated this as we had opted to schedule the earliest appointment and we had skipped breakfast. Feeling totally relaxed after work, my husband even fell asleep in their lounge chairs. I like that they allow you to take your time at the spa, so we spent a little more time after the spa to enjoy the outdoor facilities. The only downside to this visit is that they do not validate for parking. Even though you spend more than $400, expect to fork over $35 to park at Aulani. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE this spa!!! Between my husband and I, we've had 6 services done here, plus enjoying all the spa amenities. I cannot say enough how amazing this place is!! It's not cheap, but every penny spent is absolutely worth it!! They thought of every detail from their delicious pineapple lemongrass water, to the sunlight shining through hanging crystals in the trees providing small rainbows, to the super fast bathing suit dryer in the locker rooms, to the complimentary bath salts and exfoliating scrub, and much more that I don't wait to give away! Also, when we already left the spa, I realized I left my favorite earrings in the pocket of the robe was wearing. I called down and asked if they found them, thankfully they did and said to come by anytime for them. When I went back, they handed me a box that was hand decorated with mickeys and flowers and my name!! I opened the box and they had wrapped my earrings so prettily!! I was floored at how thoughtful that was!! Thank you Laniwai for providing such stellar service!! We had an amazing experience! Right when you walk into the door you feel a sense of calmness because it's so peaceful. They provide you plenty of water, small little treats, and amenities the entire time (including salt scrubs, blow dryers, and beauty products). Before your treatment you can relax in one of their hot/cold pools, lounge on a chaise, or step under one of their outdoor showers. The massage was excellent and I would go back in a heartbeat!! My mother is visiting and for Christmas and only wanted a massage. I reached out to aulani to see about a reservation. They are only open to hotel guests during the holidays, which to me seems ridiculous. We are staying at our timeshare in ko olina and still can't get a reservation. Biggest bummer of the whole vacation is that I splurged on a facial at the Aulani spa 1/26/18. Very disappointing & costly experience!! The next day I awoke with a large swollen area on my face, I walked down to the spa & gave my concerns. When I returned home the swelling continued, was affecting my vision & had gotten very painful. I saw my dr & was told I had a severe infection & was prescribed an antibiotic to treat. Healing response from the antibiotics going well, hopefully won't have any scarring read more

Expensive but..... Clean, tranquil, co-ed but with separate dressing areas, comfy robes, nice relaxation areas, and lots of good smelling stuff. They have full amenities for after your treatment like showers, hair stuff, etc. Plus, they also provide water and small snacks/fruit. I had the Signature massage treatment with Sarah (spelling?). She was AH-MA-ZING! And nice! My body was smiling after she was done. I have lots of lower back pain and she worked really hard on the specific areas. I ended up being a talker during my massage, but she was really nice about it and we ended up having a great "theraputic" conversation. So my soul was smiling too. I highly recommend her. Tip and tax are all included in the price they give you at booking. No additional fees were added. If you're looking for a splurge while the kid's are at play, don't hesitate to go here. You're wallet might take a big gulp, but sometimes we need to treat ourselves to stay sane. So enjoy!! read more

I wish I could come here monthly. This spa is worth every penny. My co workers and I chose to treat ourselves here for a spa day bc of how stressful our jobs have been. It was amazing! We arrived at 930 and left at 5 pm. Yes we spent the entire day at the spa. We got the 80 min hot stone massage and it was AMAZZZZING!!!!!! They have a sauna , steam room , 2 relaxation rooms w refreshments . An outdoor lounge w chairs and cabanas , plunge pool, jacuzzi , reflexology pathway and 2 smaller heated pools. So much to do and I would say go early and stay all day! It's not Disney themed what so ever and it's enclosed in the back so you hear NO guest at all. They have spa lunch menu too so that you can order food which is what we did. The service and hospitality was amazing, we weren't guest yet they treated us like we were , always checking on us and bringing us tea and warm pillows!! We will definitely be back! read more

My fiancé and I made sure to visit the Laniwai Spa during a recent stay at Aulani. We had a fabulous time. When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and welcomed. The woman at the desk was extremely helpful and did a wonderful job explaining the spa policies and amenities of the spa. She searched for a same day appointment and was able to accommodate our availability. The spa itself is amazing relaxing. There is a co Ed lounge area as well as the outdoor small pools and a cold water plunge pool. The outdoor area is fabulously relaxing with cabanas and lounge chairs. The staff is very friendly and comes around often to see if there is anything they can do for you. The snacks in the lounge area are a nice plus and my favorite was the coconut infused water. After relaxing in the outdoor area for a couple of hours, we were greeted by our therapists for our 50 minute couples massage. The massages were excellent! We were actually hoping for 80 minute massages, but due to our last minute booking, we were only able to get the 50 min. The entire experience at the spa was top notch. We have frequented many higher end spas and hands down, Laniwai Spa provided the best customer service and experience. We cannot wait to come back. read more

This was by far the best spa experience I ever had, complete with my masseuse singing a spoon full of sugar on the way to the relaxation room, where I had delicious tea. Definitely go as early as you can to enjoy the outdoor spa amenities-- it's a great thing to do on a rainy day or while your guy is playing golf. Bleh. If I could give them a higher rating I would. We were greeted by the staff and taken on a short tour of all the facilities they had to offer. We were then given complimentary body scrubs along with a complimentary locker, robes, and slippers. To start, I'm really impressed with the locker room, from the rain bath type showers, free feminine products, and beauty bar where they provide all types of grooming supplies, lotions, etc. to use after your treatment. Perfect if you're heading to a dinner or event afterwards. The relaxation room was nice, having both seperate gender rooms and a coed room stocked with pineapple infused water along with chocolate covered blueberries, pineapple gummies, and really yummy banana bread (the macaron on top was a cute bonus as well). The outside features a cold bath, whirlpool hot tub, outdoor shower area, and two other soaking tubs. There were also many sofas and cabanas scattered around to relax as well. TIP: BE CAREFUL OF THE SHOWER WITH THE THREE HEADS ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE OUTDOOR SHOWER AREA! My boyfriend was very surprised when he was shot with jet sprays of water from the ground lol. Our massage therapists, Nalani and Katie, were wonderful as well. Both were very attentive with making sure pressure, temperature, music, etc were all to our liking, as well as great service and making us feel very comfortable as if we were family. HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU REQUEST THEM FOR YOUR NEXT VISIT! I know we will definitely back whenever we can afford it lol as any spa in Hawaii is pretty expensive, however very well worth it for the service and amenities we received today. We had an awesome experience at this spa. The spa smelled as wonderful as it looked. The staff was welcoming and informative. I had a great Lomilomi massage while my two teenagers enjoyed their massages and facials. We will definitely comeback soon. read more

Pretty Spa... I liked the hot tea and goodies touch! Made reservations in advance, therefore, I didn't understand why the check-in process took so painfully long!?! Paid $130+ for old gel polish removal, french manicure, and two gems. Did not do anything all day, yet the bling fell off in the shower that evening! Unacceptable - nails should have lasted at least a week. I have not gone back. There are much better places in Kapolei and Ewa. I don't mind paying the money; just provide the Service! I am really disspointed, since it is a Disney Resort. read more

Absolutely loved my 55 minute massage at the spa, I spent a few hours there before getting the massage and everything was perfect. The staff was really nice, no exception, the snacks were addictive, and the place was very classy. The different showers outside in the garden are fun. I really enjoyed the products they used, they let you choose your oil massage flavor and offer products such as sugar scrub, and some really tasty jelly at the end of the massage. Coming from a place (Las Vegas) where we have great spas, I have to say that this was one of my best spa experiences. read more
