I can see why it was rated so well! the atmosphere in there I found to be really endearing and homey, really cozy. The waitress, I loved her so much! she was such a sweetheart. So attentive and accommodating. I can't get over how quickly my food came, even with all of the to go orders and everything else going on, my food came in 5 minutes after ordering. What a lovely surprise! The exterior is very unassuming. The food was outstanding! The green curry chicken included pineapple and fresh asparagus which was delicious. We were looking to eat in but when we went in there was a sign stating that the restaurant was only taking take out orders. I was alreadybin the mood for some spicy that food and didn't feel like changing restaurants. So we ended up taking it to the resort and eating watching TV and the view out. Since it was lunch, we did the lunch specials and the bento box. We did the red curry, pad thai and the temperature bento box. The bento box came with a salad, California roll while the lunch specials came with a rice on the side. The food was good and I was torn between a 4 star and a 5 star. I would rate the restaurant as a 5 as the service was excellent. The reason I ended up leaning to a 4 was because I have had better thai food and the restaurant looked more like a Chinese takeout, that could need some work on the ambience. read more

What did the lake region lack? In this massholes opinion, a good sushi option. Other than Lemongrass in Center Harbor which is a traditional Japenese steakhouse. I've ordered twice from here now, in addition to the fantastic Sushi they have some great thai dishes as well. The service is great, the greeter couldn't be nicer. They only offer take out since the common cold shut down the world, but hey if it's working for them, it's fine with me. We ordered Basil Seafood and Cashew Chicken for $34. We were very disappointed because both dishes were very bland! No spice, no aroma, no flavor! The quality of the ingredients was good, just no flavor. It's hard to believe after all the great reviews. It is as if the kitchen forgot to put in the chili paste and lemongrass. We were so excited to try Lanna Thai. How can the reviews be so polarized? We really wanted to be able to count on a solid Thai place in the Lakes region. Lanna Thai is an excellent Thai restaurant, currently only doing takeout. I've had a number of things from here and have yet to be disappointed. One surprise was the Wonton Noodle Soup. My daughter ordered it once and I couldn't believe how good it was. This is NOT your standard Chinese cup of Wonton soup, but rather a full container of delicious broth with a variety of vegetables plus chicken plus a generous amount of egg noodles in a separate container. Called ahead saying we'd have a party of 10. It's a really cozy place. So they were accommodating as possible and all the food we had was worth the wait. I ordered the thai fried rice and spicy noodles. Well, my bf liked my thai fried rice so much he ordered one for himself. Then our friend also ordered the fried rice. It was THAT good. Only downside is that the parking lot is one way. I stopped at Lanna Thai Restaurant for dinner takeout before working a small night assignment in the area. The restaurant inside is very cozy with eight tables (seating for up 30 people) for dining in and framed Thai decor on the walls. The menu offerings include the standard Thai dishes including satay, curries, stir fried dishes, rice & noodle dishes, and house dishes (ie. lemongrass chicken, pla pad ka pow, chu chee duck, spicy fish macadamia), plus sushi, salads, soups, and desserts (ice cream, fried banana, sticky rice). Prices for most dishes $9.95-$16.95. Luncheon Specials ($6.95-$8.95) served on weekdays, except holidays 11AM-3PM. Beer and wine served also here. For an appetizer, I ordered some Tod Mun Pla ($5.95): fish cakes with Thai herbs & spices served with cucumber sauce & crushed peanuts for dipping. The 12 fish cakes (each half dollar size) were slightly greasy with a very rubbery and chewy texture and had a nice spicy taste. The dipping sauce was like having duck sauce with crushed peanuts. I'd try a different appetizer next time. For dinner, the Chicken Pad Thai Noodles ($9.95), a good sized portion (enough for 2) which had soft rice noodles, tender chicken, sprouts, red onion, egg, tofu, scallions, spices, and ground peanuts. Don't let the outside of this place (awkwardly next to a laundromat), and the very small inside of this place with outdated decor' fool you...the food and service you will get is phenomenal! I ended up getting a "tofu, spring roll, dumpling platter" with coconut soup. My boyfriend shared the platter and get golden puffs & orange chicken. The portions were huge and the food was amazing! I planned a mother daughter weekend in NH at a cute Air BnB. The first night we wanted to relax, settle in and order take out. Considering we had a late start, many restaurants were closed by the time we wanted to order. Upon reviewing Yelp for recommendations in the area, this restaurant popped up and the reviews were all pretty consistent. My sister never had Thai and my mom was already a fan. I'm a Thai good lover so it worked out well because we knew she would like it with som guidance on what to order. We called and the woman that answered was very pleasant, patient and answered lol questions. We placed our order and was told it would be 50-60 minutes as they had a large number of take out orders (great sign business is high and food is good). We ordered the Thai fried rice, yellow curry with chicken and white rice, chicken wings, Shrimp tempura and sweet potato maki. Everything was amazing! Not one complaint. Due to covid, we had to pick the food up, which was fine because we wanted to eat in the home anyway. Upon arrival there are clear instructions as to what you should do for safety considerations. Sanitize hands, then walk in and only pick up the food that is labeled with your name, go to register and pay. The lady who took my order over the phone was also the woman who greeted me and took my payment. She was still very friendly and grateful for my business. I wish I could pack this restaurant up and take it with me. We ate here 4 or 5 times in a 2-week period. Everything is good. If you like duck (I do), there are many delicious duck dishes. Try the Basil Crispy Duck Stir Fry, the Duck Pad Thai, the Papaya Salad or the Drunken Noodle. All are excellent and you can ask for less spicy if you don't want to breathe fire. Try the Honey Chrysanthemum Iced Tea for something light, or the Thai Iced Tea. The hostess/waitress/manager is adorable, bubbly and thoroughly delightful. The only negative is that portions are on the small side, particularly for an Asian restaurant. Don't expect leftovers or very shareable portions. read more

Most of them were very positive and a few hated the place . We decided to give it a try . I am so glad we did . It is the best Thai food I have ever had . I have loved it since the first time I ever had it . We lived in Florida for many years and I had it everywhere there but this that I had tonight is the very best I have ever had . My husband totally agrees with me . We started with the green salad with ginger dressing . Very good . Then we had the Thai crab Rangoon . Yummy ! Next we had the Pad Thai with chicken and the Pork fried rice . They were both delicious and we both loved them . So please do not listen to the bad reviews on this place . The other contenders were pad thai with tofu (extra spicy, but there was very little spice to it) and red curry (spicy, yet there wasn't much spice). The spicy noodles were well flavored with a great level of spice for us. The ambiance... To be honest, when we walked in, there was a weird smell that shouldn't be in a restaurant. To me, it smelled like a mild amount of cat pee. Yuck. No one else said anything, so I thought it could just be my sniffer... The woman there was very friendly and attentive; always making sure everything tasted good. Although I'm only up in this area a handful of times each year to visit family, it is not a place we'd come back to every time. As my family would say... "it is New Hampshire thai food"... We came here on vacay based on yelp reviews. We agree it's tasty and small and the server was busy in her butt to keep all her tables happy. She did great. For apps we got the edemame (it was good but really salty) and the vegetarian summer rolls (those were very bland compared to other spring rolls we've had. I'd skip those) For entrees we had the yellow curry medium and The basil chicken and shrimp. The curry was substantially waterier than other Thai curries I've had but the flavor was so good. If you like some heat you can go hotter than medium. I couldn't really tell they spiced it up at all. The chicken dish got a 5 star review from my BF. read more

I went to five different Laconia restaurants, all of them reviewed here on yelp. Exactly two of them were doing the right thing in light of COVID. This was one of them. Lanna Thai was closed for indoor dining, the lady who gave me my food was the only one at the counter and she was wearing a mask the whole time. They also had sanitized the pens. My wife and I went here for an early dinner (around 1600) on a Friday. We walked in and the place was completely empty and initially nobody came to greet us. After we made a bit of noise, somebody came from the back to greet us. The place is small but since we were the only customers at the time, it was not a problem. We ordered an appetizer (fresh spring rolls) and several dishes. As I always do, I asked that my dinner be made as spicy as possible... on the Thai scale. The spring rolls were good, and when we received our meals, mine was 'mild' at best. The waitress asked me if it was hot enough and when I said that it was not, she brought me a side of dried red pepper flakes, which I poured over my dish to raise the spice level slightly. What was really 'odd' is what happened next. As we were eating, the staff (3-4 people at least) sat down and the table next to us and started eating dinner too (including our waitress). From this point, we were basically ignored until they finished eating (no tea refills) at which point we were brought our check. While the food was good (I am accustomed to not getting food as spicy as I like it until I have been to a place several times and they know what I mean by 'hot', the fact that the staff sat next to us eating my wife and I found somewhat awkward, so I am not sure if we would go back because of that. read more

Lanna Thai is a great little Thai restaurant in a building next door to a laundromat. Looking at the outside, one wonders what they will find inside! Surprise! Wonderful food is what awaits you! The place is very small---only 8 tables--- and the owner's wife serves as hostess and server and also answers the phone for the numerous take out orders placed. It can be very busy, but she is always very sweet, pleasant and efficient. It is simply decorated with items brought from Thailand. The food is wonderful! I have never had anything I didn't totally enjoy. This particular night it was extremely busy, maybe because they were closing that night for a week for a well deserved vacation. Regardless, our Thai beers were served promptly and our appetizer, Poo Jaar, delicate wontons stuffed with a cream cheese, crab and scallion filling arrived soon after. Yum! Our entrees, Tamarind Chicken and Pad Thai were promptly served and were equally delicious. Everything was so fresh and cooked to order! Lanna Thai is open every day for lunch and dinner except for Sunday. Luncheon specials are available. The food is reasonably priced and consistently good. So glad this little family owned and run restaurant has survived the bad economic times and has been able to hang on! read more
