Visited this restaurant with my Mom today. The location is little, but not overwhelming like many other restaurants. It was beautifully decorated, perfect for the space! The service was excellent, the hostesses were very kind and helpful. We ordered the yellow curry with pork which was delicious! As well as a Thai tea with Boba! This place gets 2 points instead of no points because the place is clean the service was friendly. The food was awful. This isn't Thai food. At least what I got wasn't. I've eaten Thai all over the world, some good some bad this wasn't good enough to be bad, overly salty and sweet the noodles were not edible. The chicken was over cooked, worst chow mein sauce I have honestly have ever had. I hate to leave a negative review anywhere and again the place was clean and service was fast and friendly. Their Hot & Sour Soup was actually neither; not Hot or Sour but actually with a sweetness to it and with vegetables that are customary to this soup. Tried the lunch specials twice. Order was ready quick both times, nicely packaged, fresh and hot. I love the little salad that comes with it. The dressing is so good. Good portion sizes on the entree and rice, especially for a lunch special. Their pad thai recipe is on the tangy side. I'm a little picky about pad thai, and this one is good, but could be better. It's certainly personal preference and not anything they did wrong. I did choose the tofu with it and I do need to mention that it was perfectly fried just enough to have a slight crusty outside which I love! Much better than just raw tofu thrown into the dish. My second lunch special, I tried the red curry. Again, the cute little salad, delicious. Mild creamy curry with a few veggies and basil. Got the tofu again which was slightly fried to perfection like before. If you order a curry, if there's a veggie you don't like, make sure you mention it. I forgot to do that, so I had to do some picking out. Very mild flavor, a lot of extra curry liquid to pour over the rice after. Not bad, I'd order that one again. Great little addition to Carp. Certainly worth a try when you're in the mood for something new, hot, fast, and fresh! read more

Was delighted to find this relatively new (five months old) Thai restaurant in Carpinteria. I was worried that it wouldn't measure up as I have been burned by many Thai restaurants.. But the food is excellent. We had drunken noodles and cashew chicken and brown rice. Outstanding. And very reasonably sized portions. Quite a bit more than many other Thai restaurants. We will come again on a regular basis. The family that owns it is very friendly. The inside is very pleasant and welcoming. Very reasonably priced. Oh my gosh! Somewhere to eat in Carpinteria finally!! So good Thai food in Santa Barbara is hard to find, and good food period is hard to find in Carpinteria. So we were doubtful and a bit skeptical of all of LaoThai's great reviews on here. But we were so wrong! This was the best Thai meal we have had in the area bar none. (We love Empty Bowl, but it's not the same sort of thing). The Tom yum soup, pad see u, and eggplant chicken were all equally fantastic. The quality of ingredients, flavors, protein, etc were all so good! Previously we found that we would love a noodle dish from one Thai spot, a main from another, and the appetizers somewhere else. Finding a spot where everything we had was just as good as the other was such a luxury. Not to mention the nice space and great service. We are so happy to have this lovely addition to our little town. read more
