They have a wide variety of flavors including Hawaiian specific ones. The quality seems superior to a lot of other places I've been to on Kauai. Prices are competitive but reasonable. Would come back! The shop is located in a shopping center. There's seating inside. Service is patient and quick. You can try a bunch of free samples. Ordered: Kauai pie icecream - very creamy and rich mix coffee, chocolate, Mac nuts, and toffee Giant cinnamon bun - great cinnamon flavoring such that you can actually taste a good amount of the spice in every bite, unlike the purely sugary ones you normally get. Extremely disappointed in the customer service. This place is a tradition that my family had frequented the past several years on our visits to Kauai. We were very happy to introduce our friends to Lappert's for their first experience. An employee by the name of , Brianne, I believe, made our visit a very memorable one in the most negative way. We were in just minutes before closing. Their were still patrons inside ordering and waiting in line. She was extremely disturbed that we were coming in minutes before closing. She locked the door on half of our party so they not come in. (Shortage of masks limited us of all coming in at once. The store did not have any to buy, so the kids were taking turns coming in to see what flavor they wanted. There were 5 of us total, 3 with masks. This was not a lengthy process. We were very aware of them wanting to close at this point and wanted to respect their time.) She locked my young sons ages 10 and 12 out. She told us that if we did not hurry up and order she was closing. She was EXTREMELY rude. She did not seem to appreciate her job at all. Customer service was absolutely terrible, the worst I've had on the island, EVER. She took my money and never said "thank you" Or "Have a good evening". ... just extremely rude. Brianne's poor coworker was very uncomfortable with her actions, she spoke up to say, "Have a goodnight" to be friendly enough to fill the void of Brianne's disrespectful actions. Brianna left the premises shortly after we had ordered. (We saw her because we sat and ate outside the building). She left her coworker alone to close. It seemed as if she had her mind in something else and had to leave. That's, fine. But there is absolutely ZERO reason to treat happy paying customers like they are burden to you and to even go beyond that and go out of your way to be exceptionally rude to customers. I am in the customer service industry, and as a face to store front, one should NEVER treat their customers this way. What a disgrace. I don't know that I would risk going here again, for the sake of being treating so poorly. Brianne's customer was extremely sub par. So we were originally being helped by Juliana and wanted to change a flavor of ice cream in one of the Sunday's (lava flow) we were getting. This is our first time to this Ice cream parlor. Juliana was very kind and explained the process and that they were out of a lot of ice creams and ingredients. While doing so her CoWorker "Brianna or Brianne" start yelling at us and being completely rude and verbally aggressive to my family and I and nothing was going on!! Like completely side busted the conversation and started yelling at us like we were doing something wrong when we were just trying to hear what Juliana was trying to say.. This Brianna ( who wasn't wearing a name tag so I don't know spelling or if even correct) had no purpose or reason to start yelling ! None! Zero!! But yet kept yelling at us and told us if WE were going to continue to be rude we needed to leave, when all we asked was for ice cream and then after she started yelling at us, we asked her to please stop yelling at us, All we did was ask the lady that was serving us, if we could change flavor of the ice cream in the Sunday , and our offer no where, the Brianna starts yelling us in front of my kids! Rude and out of line on so many levels! Just because you have had rude mean customers in the past , doesn't mean we all are! What this lady did was make us never want to come back! In fact I actually want to speak to someone in charge of her . Not only was it embarrassing but completely out of place and unnecessary! There's no way you can go wrong if you stop in to a Lappert's! I've visited Lappert's on the Big Island, Waikiki and Kauai. Recently went to the Lappert's on Kauai (Poipu location) while on a quick vacay. We were only there for 2 days and if you can guess, we went twice! Lappert's has an extensive list of flavors to choose from. From coffee, the classic flavors we all know and love, to fruity sherbets, Lappert's will have something for everyone. I love mint chocolate so much and it's hard for me to go into any ice cream shop and not order it. So naturally I ordered this and also got cookie dough. Both are great! I love the flavors and the ice cream is so creamy! The next night, after a filling dinner I decided to share with my husband the lilikoi sherbet. This was good also. The lilikoi flavor was strong but not overwhelming and wasn't heavy. They have many cones to choose from as well as a full coffee bar and baked goods. This is the best ice cream I have ever had in my life. I've gotten the mint chip and it's incredible. I feel like I'm cheating Baskin Robbins back home but it's incredible. It's super soft and the chocolate chips are soft and not super hard like other ice cream places. Also, they have the best waffle cones. A creamy rich chocolate ice cream with dark chocolate covered macadamia nuts. A perfect combination of sweet, chocolate and crunchiness. But really, you can't go wrong with any flavor. My one tip...don't combine kona coffee with coconut pineapple. (That was my brother-in-law, not me!). Eeeeeeww! Alone they're fine. Together...YUCK! Lappert's served me one of the best cups of ice cream I've ever had. I sampled a few creamy dabs and indecisively settled for the java and coconut flavors. I would've ordered more if I wasn't heading to dinner in half an hour... Nonetheless, the two scoops we ended up with were unbelievably satisfying. The coffee was strong and bold as we like our java and the coconut contained fresh coconut flakes in every scoop. The ice cream itself was representative of what perfect ice cream is: cold and creamy! Hawaii is known primarily for their shave ice but there were places that recommended ice cream as well. Lappert's was on a bunch of lists so when we saw it after lunch, I knew I needed a sweet treat. Inside, you can smell the sugar! You could taste all the flavors you would like, but ultimately I went with their signature Kauai flavor, Kauai Pie. It was really yummy and creamy. For such a highly rated business, very disappointed. In the middle of a summer day they had about 10% of the flavors available that are on their website. Only flavors available were ones we could get stateside. Out of macadamia nuts, bananas, brownies, blondies, and any unique flavor. To top it off, while I waited for my family of five to be served they started taking orders from people behind me which meant they ran out of other flavors before I could even order. Great to come here if you want vanilla or mint chip. Don't count on anything that would resemble Hawaii. Weak. Stay away from the Lappert's at Poipu Beach. Terrible.
