Last year we played golf at Kiahuna Golf Club and saw this huge half open air Mexican restaurant with a beautiful view of the golf course. We didn't have time to eat then, but thought we should check it out the following year when we'd returned to Kauai. Fast forward one year, we were excited to finally try this restaurant but were so disappointed. We ordered the daily specials, carnitas Taco & Enchilada and Chile Rellenos & Enchilada combos. I could taste a faint frozen foods taste from the Chile rellenos, and the enchiladas sauce from cans! Not good! I got home and had the worst stomachache. The young server was impolite, not once did she come ask how the food was. After she dropped off the electronic credit card scanner, she said I needed to add my phone no. if I wanted a receipt since the WiFi was out. I entered my no, but did it too fast and missed a number, when I tried to re-enter, it went all the way back..this young server scolded me and said, "I told you, you only need to add your number!" I told her I did but it skipped a number, and she grabbed the scanner and roller her eyes! The other server printed brought me my receipt! Apparently there wasn't a WiFi issue anymore..;( I'd spend my money elsewhere for sure. read more

We went on a Saturday around 7:00 in the evening and we were the only ones there, which was strange. We were seated directly under a industrial fan used for the heat, but it was like 59 degrees so we asked if it could be turned off. We were told they can only turn it off it they turn off all the lights. So we asked if we could be moved to another table out of the way of the fan and were told no, this was the only table available. We sat down and the server immediately came over and asked for our drink order. We asked for a drink menu, so she brought one for five people. Then she stood at the bar staring at us until we decided. The drinks were delivered quickly and we're actually good. Next came the food order. Four menus for five people. Order placed for one taco salad, twelve street tacos, all chicken or steak, and one burrito. We asked if we could have chips and salsa, guacamole, and queso dip. One bowl of chips for five people, which we paid for two refills. Salsa was canned, guacamole was not fresh, and queso was bland. Taco salad was OK. Street tacos weren't what we expected and didn't have limes. They tasted ok and the meat was fresh. Burrito was messed up and they tried to lie and say that's how burritos are served and the green sauce was chilis. We found out it was cooked and served with ground pork. This was not advertised. Overall, they seemed bothered by us and we're talking about us in Spanish to each other. One of our party was fluent in Spanish. When we left, there were three people there with badges looking at some paperwork from the bar, which was very suspicious. read more

I ordered a chimichanga which actually tasted like a dry, chewy sock filled with flavorless shredded beef. In fact, the whole meal, rice and beans was tasteless. Huge disappointment and they raised their prices! Oh, and good luck ordering if you don't have your cell phone because you need to scan the QR code to get a menu while at the same time the hostess handed us old outdated menus reflecting old prices. And, if you don't mind flies swirling around your food then this is the place for you. I get that it's an outside dining experience but wow, dry chewy sock burritos, tasteless beans and rice, added with flies sure makes for a gross meal with family and friends. read more

Menudo - they have it and it's rich, thick, and ono ono! This Pacos is set on the edge of the golf course overlooking Poipu waters. Drinks are okay and food is okay. Views and sunsets are awesome and it's a great place to gather friends for a decent meal. read more

We've been to Paco's many times over the years - solid drinks and sometimes there is live music. Service can a little slow so be prepared, and burrito orders don't come with any sides. Photo is of the carne asada burrito and al pastor taco combo. Will be returning soon! read more

We visited this spot during our trip to Kaua'i and enjoyed the panoramic views of the surrounding golf course, and even ocean, from within the restaurant. You order ahead at this location, which the host explained is due to staff shortages. I ordered a lime caipirinha, and my boyfriend ordered a michelada. The drinks were on point! I ordered shrimp and nopales tacos, and my boyfriend ordered El Pastor and fish tacos. We both agreed the food was 4/5 in terms of taste. The nopales were cut a bit large, had too many onions, and not enough cilantro for my personal taste. The shrimp tacos were decent, if not a little under-seasoned . My boyfriend found the El Pastor and fish tacos good - the later was the better taco - but neither were anything to write home about either. This was one of our more affordable meals during our trip. What we enjoyed most was the view from our table, and cute murals that adorned the walls. We noticed lots of planters inside the restaurant that lacked plants - like the long wall planter behind us, and planters on the walls. This place could use a little TLC. We went to Pacos Tacos twice over the last month. Taco Tuesday is pretty tasty and not crowded. All the taco choices and $5.00 drafts. The outside restaurant sits right on the golf course and has a distant blue water view past the driving range. Give them a try on Tuesday and make your own decision. read more

Went here recently on vacation. Told the staff 3 times I was allergic to shrimp and to please let the kitchen know. We ordered a fish burrito (ono) and instead they served me a SHRIMP burrito. Luckily I noticed before I ate any of the shrimp. Then when I pointed it out they tried to argue with me. In addition, the fajitas my friends ordered had hardly any meat and even though we asked if the chips were free, they charged us for the refill- without letting us know. 6th Place - 2022 Kauai Fish Taco Throwdown This place is hard to understand for me. It's one of the more authentic Mexican venues on the island and their nopales taco is quite good, but their fish taco doesn't have much flavor to it. They do provide a couple of add on sauces, BUT, an authentic Mexican fish taco when well executed is a stand alone. Even the tortilla was like right out of the package. Don't get me wrong, it's a decent taco for $5 just nothing special. It's vibe is a little odd too. Not a lot of aloha. New place, understaffed, inflation, war, pandemic???? Who knows. Mediocre food at best. The service situation is interesting, you order at the register first then are seated. I think this is out of necessity due to the understaffing. Took us forever to get a refill on our iced tea. Only had 2 employees to service entire restaurant and probably one cook in back. The other main issue with this place is the flies. EEK! I felt like I had to be on high alert during my entire meal because of the mass of flies in the area. Unfortunately Pacos has really gone down hill. Something has changed in the last three years. The food is really bad, and not just the make of the dishes, but the quality of the ingredients. You can scan a QR code upon arrival to access the menu or you might review the online menu before arriving. Today I enjoyed the Huevos Divorciados with enchilada and ranchero sauce. Paco's Tacos was the worst Mexican food I've ever had and definitely one of the worst overall dining experiences I've had as well. I'm not sure how the ratings are what they are. From the chips and salsa to the ceviche to the burrito, it was near inedible. Not only was the food horrible, but our waitress was extremely rude as well. When we told her we didn't enjoy our food upon her asking, she said "no one's forcing you to eat it" in a very rude tone. She continued to be rude afterwards and it really ended our night on a bad note. Hopefully you'll save your time and money and avoid this place. read more

The first evening of our Kauai vacation we got takeout from Paco's Taco Cantina as it was close to where we were staying. I arrived before our food was ready and sat at the bar for a few minutes. The staff there was extremely friendly. Our food was really good. I got the Fish A La "Diabla", my wife got the Shrimp Tacos and Cheese Quesadilla for the girls (7 & 9). Per most of the other reviews, this place is tucked away part of a golf course and resort. There is plenty of open parking and it's open to the public. Service was friendly and quick. Best thing about this place is the view and food!! You have the ocean on the left hand side and the gorgeous mountains on the right. It's nice and airy.
