I called Lariele for the first time last night. I had bought a groupon type certificate. When I called they assured me I could use the certificate that night on my order, so I went ahead and placed our order. We were informed that they were changing the menu, so almost everything we wanted they didn't have (a little annoying). We ended up ordering an Italian house salad the description was a Salami + aged provolone + cherry tomatoes + artichoke + cucumber + house vinaigrette $10. What we got was 1 cup romaine lettuce, 1 tomato, olives, Parmesan cheese and Cesear dressing (not what we ordered and pretty skimpy for $10). We also got a large nanny's white pizza, and fries both delicious. When I got to lariele they told me I couldn't use my certificate that I bought. They apologized and said I could use it to dine in, and that they ha e coupons, but I couldn't use them at that time (WTF?!) I paid $38 and drove 25 mins for pizza I could've gotten 5 mins from my house for 1/2 the price and maybe I would've even gotten the right order. I really wanted this place to be awesome. Great menu and great concept but they cant seem to keep it consistent for me. We have given them multiple trys but have had too many pizzas and strombolis that have been raw on the bottom. Sometimes the pizza is cooked perfectly and is tasty and sometimes it is bland and flabby. We will let some time go by and give Lariele another try hoping for a really great consistent pizza. read more

The pizza here is very good and different from the normal Media fare. The Margherita ($19 for a large) is our usual go to. Its not heavy, and the sauce, cheese, and crust are very good. If you are from Media, especially from the borough, its a very good addition to Apollo's, Little Anthony's, and the rest. I would rate Lariele at 4 stars but I just have to give it the extra star to make up for some of the asinine reviews here. I am just going to come out and say that I am writing this to respond specifically to those reviews. Places in Media come and go, and the pizza here is good enough and different enough that I'd hate for this place not to succeed partly b/c of some of the internet numbnuts. If $15-20 (up to $23 for the specialty ones) is too pricey, I would love for someone to point me in the direction of the really good $13 large pizza that can be bought elsewhere. Seriously, let me know. If you are from around here, you know that for "Dining under the stars" some places are reservations only and others are walk-in only. Places take reservations only, especially the new ones, so that they can manage the influx of people. If the hostess helps you out and seats you anyway, a normal person might be willing to cut them some slack for slower service. Especially, for during the mayhem that is Dining Under the Stars. Lastly, for the vegetarian in the room. Way to blast their "secret ingredient" on the internet. I'm sure you informed them of your diet, and they were more than happy to share the ingredients to accommodate you. And what do you do? Post it online, and give them 1 star. Snowflake. read more

Although the pizza still tastes great, our most recent pie was smaller and more expensive than it used to be, which is a bummer. However the biggest disappointment is the apparent change in their salad menu..? Bear with me, because I'm a bit confused. Lariele circulated menus by mail just last week, which listed 4 salads. However, when we called to place an order a couple days later, we were told they only have Caesar salad and "Italian salad." The person on the phone described the Italian salad as spring mix, salami, provolone cheese, artichokes, tomatoes, peppers, cucumbers, and olives. When the salad arrived, it was iceberg lettuce, those thin pre-sliced pepperoni slices you get at the grocery store, shredded provolone, sauteed green peppers that were undoubtedly recycled from sausage-and-pepper sandwich orders, tomatoes, and black olives. No artichokes, no salami, no cucumbers, no spring mix. It was the saddest salad I've ever seen, especially for the price, but I'm most upset about the blatant misrepresentation over the phone. I still love their pizza, but due to the recent changes we probably won't order from Lariele again :( read more

I'm not usually a fan of thick, square pizza but wow! This is good pizza. The service was friendly and fast. They kept our water glasses filled. The food was delicious. We sat at the bar area and the chef was friendly enough to talk to us. We could see our fresh food being made. Will be back. read more

Some people say their food is good, but I wouldn't know. My friends and I couldn't even get a waiter to bring us water. Here's the story: I went here with two friends last Wednesday night during dining under the stars. We arrived at 5:30 without a reservation, because we didn't know we needed one. The host sat us outside anyway, saying as long as we could be done by 7pm it was okay. We were all good with that, because we had somewhere to be at 7 and we were hungry. Once seated, it was our table and 3 other tables occupied, all with parties of 5 or less. Each table had their own waiter, and there were at least 3 other waiters standing around on the sidewalk by the restaurant's entry, doing nothing. Not a single one of them came over to help us, not even to bring us water! We sat there for 10 mintues, and I then asked the first waiter I saw who our waiter was. He seemed surprised that we hadn't been served and went to find our waiter. I could see him talking to the other waiters, including those that already had tables. Still no one came over. We sat there another 10 minutes with no service, and then we left to eat elsewhere. I've heard from friends of mine that they've had similar experiences, whether they had been eating outside for dining under the stars or inside on a regular night.  NOT. WORTH. IT. It is completey unacceptable to tell patrons they have a time limit and then to ignore them for 20 minutes! Keep walking along State Street in Media to find any of many wonderful restaurants of all different cuisine types. read more

I was looking forward to trying Lariele, and ordered for delivery a few nights ago. First, the good: The food arrived nice and hot, so no complaints there. The tomato sauce was very good, as was the crust. I thought the cheese was a bit rubbery, but my dining partner didn't agree and thought the pizza was very good. The cheesesteak eggrolls were good, but not much cheese. Now the bad, and there's plenty of bad. I do not think Lariele is a good value. First, their online ordering menu does not list the pizzas in the same way as they do on their "regular" menu, which made ordering confusing. For example, I wanted the "Traditional Roman Red" pizzas that were listed on the menu, but when you go to order online, this product isn't listed, there's simply an option for pizza, large or small, and worse, there is no indication of how large the pizza is, nothing determining if it's a 12" or 18" or whatever. However, that small glitch could be easily fixed. What I fear cannot be fixed is the over pricing of this food. A "medium" is listed as being $13.50 and each topping is an additional 1.95! A large is $18.50 (yes, you read that correctly - 18.50!) and each topping is $3.00! Again, no indication on the size of these pies. I figured a large for $18.50 would be huge, so I ordered two medium - one plain, one with pepperoni for a total of $28.95 (that's for 2 medium pizzas). I also ordered cheesesteak egg rolls at a whopping $12.00, but they did not indicate how many egg rolls I would get. The total was $40.95. What arrived at my home were two very small pizzas (six pieces for each pie) and two small eggrolls cut in half. For $40.95 (with tax and delivery $45.26!). I don't know who the owners of Lariele are, but they must be nuts to think they can charge outrageous prices for what they are giving people. There are many pizza shops in Media, and Lariele isn't going to last because they are not worth it. They are overpriced and appear quite pretentious. They clearly do not understand their customers, nor do they understand that Media and all of Delaware County are brimming with pizza shops that offer excellent food at a fair price (I can name two right on State Street that are not only better tasting than Lariele, but offer a better value, too!). So in the end, I tried Lariele, and frankly, I got the feeling I was dealing with rip off artists with a nice website and enticing menu but with no intention to deliver on what counts - quality and price. Fool me once shame on you, Lariele, I won't be back to let you fool me twice! Clean up your act and make your website accurate as far as size/amounts of food, or you'll have plenty of pissed off customers and few will return. read more

Best pizza in Media. Maybe on par with Ravenisi as best in Delco. Pizza has fantastic flavor, from the sauce and from the wood burning oven.

Their pizza is a change-up from "normal" Italian and specialty gourmet (e.g. brick or coal oven) pies. Chewy crust, inconsistent thickness, unevenly cooked crust (charred in some places, undercooked in others), difficult to eat w/o using a knife and fork (my wife gave in). It's interesting, but it's like Pica's in Upper Darby and West Chester -- I could only eat it a couple of times per year. She had a salad -- it was OK. We had wings -- OK, but not anywhere near as good as Anthony's Coal Fired. Service had two quirks: 1. Our waitress was friendly and inattentive. Staff hang out at the counter and chat, and they forget to look over at the customers. I actually had to get up twice and walk over to her. 2. The server for the table behind us kept hitting my chair when he walked by. After the third time, I realized he was doing it intentionally to punish me for being in his way. Hey, I didn't put the tables and chairs there, and I didn't pick the table we sat at. After the third time, I looked at him -- and it didn't happen again. Passive-aggressive is not a good look for a waiter (or his restaurant). The bill was high for what we got (food and service). If someone asked me to go back because they really wanted to go there, I would. Otherwise, there are dozens (literally dozens) of better choices within a 10 min drive. Ordered a pizza for take-out and this is what I got. Completely burnt, yet raw on the bottom. Not even sure how that's possible?!? The guy checked it before he put it in the box and gave it to me so I didn't think to check it again. Lesson learned. Always want to support local business but won't return again. Unique and very good pizza! If you are looking for good pizza in Media, I recommend Lariele. Lariele has a very neat large rotary wood burning oven that can fit about 8 or more pizzas / entrees. The dough is fluffier than at other wood burning pizza places. read more

Wonderful experience at this restaurant. Had 9 for a family birthday dinner. Food was excellent except for the chicken dishes where the chicken was dry, but rest of meal was great. I went here for my birthday and it took (and I am not kidding) 3 hours to complete our meal. I am a Valentine's baby and decided to take my wife here for that special day (also my birthday). This is not France people. This is pizza in Media. I called the manager over explaining the bad time we were having and he actually literally laughed at me. I said "Anthony, I am a VERY loyal customer. Ask Sterling." He offered a free dessert. I told him "I don't want more free bad service. I want you to take care of the problem you have already created." At this point 15 tables had already been in, served, and out. He reiterated that dessert would be free. I literally can not communicate the arrogance and pompous nature I would met with here. I am a Fortune 100 analyst but love local dive bars and Michelin Star restaurants just the same. Went here tonight, minimal wait fir a Saturday night. Pizza is good prob one of the best in delco. Might be a bit better if they put the pizza on a screen when serving it. It comes out of 900 degree oven and placed onto a room temp pan which creates some condensation and makes the bottom of pie a bit moist. It is a byob which is nice. 2 nice TV's mounted. Had the house wings as well i thought they lacked flavor but the wife liked them. Overall good read more

We really want to love this place and we did when it first opened. The original menu/dough was much much better. Now any pizza with red sauce is soggy/spongy. The best pizza is the Nanny's pizza!! A little on the pricey end for what I want to pay for pizza. But great Sicilian pizza! It was nice to try during dining under the stars.

I'm writing this in the hopes that the owners read some of these because the bottom line is, when their food is good, it's really good. Problem is, it's very inconsistent and even sometimes bad. I have eaten here probably about a dozen times so this is not a "they had a bad day" situation. First, the price. It's Media so everything is a little expensive, and that's ok. But when you charge over $20 for a 1 topping large pie, I expect it to be great or at least good every time. Sometimes it is but to often it's not. It's often cold, even when you are in the restaurant. I'll never understand why they skimp on toppings. Italian sausage is not expensive and on almost every occasion I have got that topping you can count on one hand how many sausage are on it. I'm not asking for it to be covered head to toe in toppings but on a large you should at least have it distributed evenly so that every slice has a few pieces. This is the one thing they are consistent on. It's always too little. We stopped getting topping for our takeout because of it. The pizza itself is still tasty but I just expect more for that price. Next, the service. I don't recommend dining in. My wife and i have about 5 or 6 times and it's really bad. You will be lucky if you see your server more than twice from order to paying. Too young and too inexperienced. That's fine if for a fast food joint or a small pizza place that charges $10 for large. It's not when you end up with a $50 bill for two people. But it's not just the in house service. On at least 4 occasions our takeout order was not right. Ordered half a topping pie, they got it wrong and made the whole thing that way. Wife is vegetarian so this really could have ruined it for her, but as I said earlier, they are so light on toppings we only had to remove a few pieces to make it right. Three times that happened. Forgot sides two times. Forgot sauce for sides 2 times. The parmesan truffle fries. Wow, when these are good, they are truly amazing. Good luck though. Often not fully cooked and with almost no Parmesan at all. When they are good, they crisp and covered with it. For $9, they need to do better. The wings are also amazing and actually, they usually get this right. Only once were they overcooked and dry and I can live with that. Anyway, if you read through the reviews, the things I mentioned are a common theme. Here's hopping they fix these things in the future. read more

An hour and 15 minutes for a pizza and not one word from our waitress until we flagged her down and asked her. This place has some serious service issues. Went on Saturday night. Not at all crowded, people at two other tables. Ordered pasta with meatballs and short ribs. Husband ordered french fries and a pizza steak. Fries came out 5 mins before my pasta was delivered. No pizza steak. No meatballs with pasta. Asked the waitress if the menu did say it came with meatballs, her response, "I don't know." Pasta dish had no flavor, at all. Waitress came back and I told her I was not pleased with my dish and the fact the my husband's pizza steak still hadn't been delivered to the table. Finally, a manager came over and asked about the pasta. Told him the same thing I told the waitress and also asked him if it was suppose to come with meatballs. Same answer, he didn't know!!! For the record, a check of the menu, pasta was indeed suppose to come with meatballs. Manager said they would wrap pizza steak to go. We waited 5 more minutes, no pizza steak. Really disappointing. We ordered two 12-inch pizzas and both were soggy almost to the point of being inedible. You could not hold a slice in your hand; the slices drooped, and the toppings fell off. It was odd because the crust was fine, and the bottom of the pies was fine, but the rest of them weren't cooked. I may try again in a few weeks -- I hope it was a fluke and I was excited for this place to open. read more

Unfortunately this place is incredibly overpriced. The sandwiches are on average $10+ and do not come with any sides. My husband ordered a chicken cheese steak and received a plate with a sandwich. That's it. It's a cheese steak in Media, not a Steven Starr restaurant, stop trying so hard. I will say it was a decent sandwich but nothing special. I had hope for the the pizza but it was so salty I couldn't finish it. Additionally the sauce was horribly undercooked and had a bitter taste to it. Unfortunately we were very disappointed with our meal at Lariele Wood Fired Square Pie. When I made a reservation I requested to have text-mail reminders sent. I never received ANY text message from them. I see other people had this same problem too. In addition, even though we made a reservation, we were seated at the worst table in the place right next to the kitchen. I read a review on Tripadvisor that was posted on May 14, 2017 that said the reviewer had the BBQ chicken pizza at the Media location and it was the "best pizza he ever ate in his life". He also included a picture of the BBQ chicken pizza in his review. His review and pic of the pizza were the main reason we wanted to go there. UNFORTUNATELY, although the BBQ chicken pizza is listed on the online menu the Media location DOES NOT CARRY IT! We asked about the bbq chicken pizza and the waitress was confused and told us that they JUST started a special with chicken and onions and things but some other type of sauce. The amount of chicken on the pizza was nothing like the BBQ chicken posted on Tripadvisor and it was definitely NOT what we were expecting. It was also the same price as the BBQ chicken pizza even though it did not have anywhere near the toppings. The BBQ chicken pizza appears to have entire slices of chicken but the one we received only had VERY LITTLE cut up pieces. The pizza was also too spicy for out taste and we ate less than half of it. Unfortunalely I am unable to attach a pic of the pizza we were expecting based on the review as well as a pic of the pizza we got so you can see how bad it was. VERY DISAPPOINTING! read more

Nice place, delicious high quality ingredients. Pizza is exceptional... BUT, twice now the crust was raw and doughy all throughout the middle of the pie. The edges are fine and the bottom "looks" good, but it's undercooked and doughy much of it. Too thick perhaps? I hope the chef figures it out because otherwise the food is yum. read more
