Rude service and bizarre experience -- would not recommend! This gas station is shut down and now just a smog/mechanic. Review is for smog station. Had one of the strangest experiences ever trying to get a simple smog check done on my daughter's Miata. TL;DR: Extremely rude attendant. I ended up stopping the test, requesting a refund, and leaving. First and last time here! I would give zero stars if I could. Take your car somewhere else! I arrived and had to search for the attendant, found him hiding in a corner after searching around. He told me to scan the QR code on the wall, paid for the smog by scanning the QR code as instructed by him. $158! which was very expensive but I paid to get it done/over and the Miata is old (1992) so I know it's more more than just plugging into the OBD. After waiting for a while he comes out and says "the idle is too high". He ask me to take a look and I know that usually it's because the AC is turned on that the revs go up (It's a 1992 Miata with all of like 115hp). I look into the car and press the AC button to check since he called me over. Everything seems fine, he says ok, revs are down. I walk back out. A few minutes later he comes out and is visibly upset. Raising his voice, scolding me because he has to start the test over and now it will take more time. He goes back to do the test again. We step out to grab water down the street since the waiting area is basically unusable (the office looks completely torn up). While we were at the intersection, he came running over, yelling at us from across the street. When we got back, he continues lecturing me about pressing the AC button and said he will now do another car before mine -- all while acting like this was some outrageous situation. At that point I had enough (and scolding for a grown up man just trying to get a smog check done) so I ask him if we can just do a refund and I'll go on my merry way to get it done some other place (A place where I will not feel like a delinquent school boy). The "gentleman" suddenly can't do anything and says to just call and ask for a refund from "The Company" that did the smog. I ask him who? Didn't you just do the smog? I did call "The Company", and thankfully they were responsive and processed the refund quickly (supposedly within 10 days). My wife, who is about as calm and easygoing as they come, was equally shocked by how rude and unprofessional the whole interaction was. Negative 5 stars for the "gentleman" attendant and his POS attitude. Positive 4 stars for the quick response and help when calling for refund. Lets see if I get that refund on time..... read more

This review justifies two stars versus one. Less expensive than the gas station across the street. They have a public bathroom. Reasonably convenient to the freeway. These are reasons why this gas station should actually get one star. Bathroom is absolutely filthy. They charge $0.20 extortion for using a credit card. I pre-purchased a smog check through the smogcheck.net and then I went to the nearest smog check location (on Saratoga), which turned out to have a broken machine, so I went to the smog check location on Hamilton in Campbell, which started great, and then their machine broke. So I went to this location in Los Gatos. This location was the cleanest, and the mechanic running it was efficient and finished in about 20 minutes. His manner of communicating is a bit curt (serious), though he is respectful and wants to make sure you don't disappear for a long time, causing him to deal with storing your vehicle in limited space. Needed a smog check to renew my registration. Wanted to get it done on Sunday and this was one of the few locations showing it was opened Sunday. They are a test only station in the Union gas station on the corner of Los Gatos blvd Lark. Walked up to the gentleman finishing with another customer and he was able to help me next. It took about 30 min total. Not as cheap as some of the other guys but not overpriced. read more

Paid online for the $49 discount. All you need to do is drive up to the smog booth and give your confirmation code. Today was my second time coming here. A week ago, I failed a smog test because my battery was new- therefore my car computer was not ready for the smog test. I drove it around and brought it back today and the retest was free (they send a new confirmation number for the second time). Today I had Youbert helping me. He was very kind and quick. I brought car in for "tune up" 7/5/2022, picked it back up 7/14/2022 noticed that brake wasn't working after car was worked on. I had called and asked Julio the mechanic whom worked on my car and he kept avoiding the problem I was having with my brakes and kept advising me over the phone to unplug my battery to reset my car. It did nothing to solve the issue with my brakes. I asked him if I can bring it in 7/15/2022 the day after I picked up my car and having issues with the brakes and he said no he doesn't have time to check my car until Monday or Tuesday.Tuesday comes and I was trying to call Julio and has been avoiding my phone calls. Borrowed a car and drove to 76 because he's been avoiding my calls..Spoke with him and tells me to drive my unsafe car back to shop with no brakes , him knowing I wouldn't be able to. Whomever reads this, Don't bring cars in here for any type of repairs. This guy is a con-artist and trying to add more problems than what you have when you bring in your car. Don't bother taking older cars here to get smogged now. I've been coming here for at least 10 years with all our cars for smogs. Not sure what changed in the past year or two, they used to be great with older cars. A couple days ago I brought in a 1988 model. One guy (after finally getting up from watching something on his computer) didn't want to touch it because he didn't know how to do it, and after me pestering him said I should come back in a couple days. Day two, the other guy says the car is missing the catalytic converter (it's under there, with a factory part number stamped on it). Thanks, but no thanks, I'll go elsewhere from now on. read more

Will the Lark 76 offer you a good price if you request a quote here on Yelp? Yes. But here's the crucial one - will the Lark 76 try to claim that the promotional price they offer you if you request a quote through Yelp is not valid? Yes. Here's the fully story: I brought my car in to get a smog check because I was looking to sell it. I had to fix a sensor on my car before bringing it in because I was getting an intermittent check engine light (CEL). So, I fix the sensor, reset the codes, drive around for a bit, and take it to get a smog check here after getting a quote for $49.95 here on Yelp. I thought this was already a bit strange since I had brought a different car here for a smog check a few months prior and the quote was $29.95, but I figured "oh well, prices go up." I bring the car in and the technician gets it all plugged in. However, he first tries to argue with me that the price is $69.95, and that the quote I got online was not valid because "that is not our Yelp account," even though it obviously is. He calls someone and talks to them (another language, could not understand, but he seemed irate) and eventually begrudgingly accepts to give me the original quote. He runs the car and it fails the smog test because I did not drive enough miles to fully reset all of the monitors. Fair enough, happens. Now, most Smog Check stations offer one free re-test, and this one is no different. It clearly states on the wall that they offer a free re-test. However, the technician tries to say it will be $20 for a re-test (amusingly bring the price back up to the $69.95 he originally wanted to charge me). I take the car back and go drive it some more. However, before bringing the car back in for the re-test, I messaged the owner of the Yelp account (who does work there because his information is clearly visible on the certificate that they have to by law post inside their office) and asked him to confirm that re-tests are free. He confirms this and says "yes, just bring it back in and the re-test is free." So, I double check that all of my emission monitors are ready on my OBD2 scanner and bring the car back in. The car passes this time (1st re-test) but the technician is still trying to charge me $20. I inform him of my conversation with the man on Yelp and he gets upset saying that the guy there "has nothing to do with them and doesn't really work there." He trundles away and calls someone on the phone again and then comes back and makes ME get on the phone - turns out its the guy who I spoke to on Yelp, now trying to say that he did not know that the guy gave me a different quote ($20 for re-test) and that usually re-test are free but since I got a "promotional price" re-tests are not free. I tell him that this back and and forth is completely inconsistent and unprofessional but I agree to pay the $20 to avoid a larger issue (he eventually reduced it to $10 in the end). The technician then comes back over to me, still angry, arguing that everything they do is for the customer - the free drink, a place to sit, re-testing my car with their OBD2 port to see if monitors are ready - but if the customer were that important, wouldn't they honor a quote they gave me and not try to stiff me out of another $20? He also tried to argue that my car was more "difficult" to smog and that is why it needs to be more expensive, but I find that hard to believe as the only difference between the car I brought in this time and the one I paid $29.95 for is that one says "Porsche" on it and the other says "Toyota." So, I will not be returning to this smog station and I will not be purchasing gas from them either. I will also be telling my friends and family about my experience here. I appreciate the difficulties of running a business, but this is not how business is conducted. Hopefully the money I paid them was worth it. read more

I went to this gas station for my smog check. very nice gentleman who did it for me found out about my trunk door problem and fixed it for me for free. While I was waiting I got a cup of mocha there in the gas station shop. This is the first time I have tried gas station drink and I literally enjoyed it. I came here to get my propane tank filled and a customer had just dropped off 7 tanks to be filled so I would have to wait. I asked if I could leave my rank and pick it up and hour later so I could get my car washed across the street. The guy said no problem, just leave it away from the other tanks so they don't get mixed up. I left it 15fy from the group of tanks and left. I came back an hour later and I didn't see my tank so I figured they locked it up in the cage. I went in to pay for my propane and ask where my tank was. He took my money and told me it was out there next to the filling station. We walked out together and agreed it was gone. He said maybe the customer took it and sorry. Said he would try to contact them and get back to me. I asked for a refund for the propane since I was not leaving with the tank. I've called several times now to follow up and the owner of the station doesn't seem to care other than he is pissed that he lost the $20 he refunded to me. It costs $40 bucks for a replacement tank but he seems to think that's my problem. read more
