Incompetent at best, possibly a crook. ALWAYS ask for a pre-check BEFORE signing a service order or having this place inspect your vehicle. I recently had my battery changed in my car and FAILED the smog test because I had not driven enough miles for enough data to accumulate in the engine computer. I had to pay for the failed test and when I asked about bringing it back after driving it enough miles, the guy said I'd have to pay again. When I asked him why he didn't ask people about things like battery changes or even recent service that might require the battery to be disconnected, he got very rude and said he couldn't ask people questions like that. read more

The owner has always been agreeable and quick, so long as I turn up with the necessary paperwork and the car ready to be smogged. The price has always been the best in the area as well. Straight forward Smog. I brought in a small compact car that would never fail. FYI, smog prices have gone up everywhere over the past couple years. Not sure why. I would have given this business 4 or MORE stars....but the sloppiness here caused an additional issue. This business has a nice ValPak coupon, which I used. One person ahead of me, and it went quickly. I was next: car was put through the smog, paid and took it home. Two days later two dash lights come on (Engine and something else). Bring it into my mechanic (which was a pain...due to me having two part-time jobs...and having to get my husband now involved). Come to find out this joker didn't fasten my GAS CAP on tightly....which is part of the smog check. Never TOUCHED the gas cap since the car had 3/4 tank of gas. VERY SLOPPY work! Its a NO BRAINER to fasten the gas cap very tightly. Maybe this guy inhale too many fumes to do something this dumb....Enough said ...... read more

I went in for a smog on my 99 mustang, they asked me what year it is, I told them. Kind of surprised they didn't know the year, since they're all OBD II for that Generation... the reason I give it 1 star though is because when they asked me what the transmission was and I told them it was manual. CHEAP and FAST, what more could you ask for? Had to get my smog check at a STAR smog check station. Other places (shell, valero, G&I) tried to charge me $50 and said the wait time would be about 45 minutes. I only had to pay $38 here (certificate price included! I took my 97 Acura in for a star certified smog test. I wasn't sure it would pass and I noticed that this place offered free retests if needed. I also had a coupon for a discount but he said it was not valid since my car was an older model, boo. I decided to proceed since I was already there and it was over 93 degrees that day. He strapped the car in and started the test. After a few minutes behind the wheel, he got out and looked under the hood then went back behind the wheel and gassed it again. It was finished in 20 minutes. He printed out the report, walked back to the counter and said "It didn't pass." Shhhh, what the...!! He added "You can get it repaired and come back." I asked if he knew why it didn't pass and he said , "The printout report will tell you." I looked but it just provided low and high rpm readings and my low numbers were not within the guidelines. I had the car repaired with my regular mechanic a few days afterwards. He wasn't sure what was wrong and had to do an extensive test himself, then clean out the air filter, exhaust, etc. etc. I returned to the smog test center a few days later and this time the smog check was approved. Four stars for the free retest. If you have a feeling you're older model car may have an issue, then go to this test center. read more

Needed to get a smog check done on my car so when I got a coupon in the mail from these guys I figured I'd check them out. Hours listed on the coupon were Mon - Sat 8am to 6pm. Went in today (Friday) to get the service done and they were closed!?!? I received a discount coupon in a mailer, so I tried to use it. I called to ask if I needed any appointment, or if I could just drop in. I was told no appointment was necessary, just stop by before closing. I arrived at 2 pm on a Friday. I presume it was the owner that greeted me. He told me he could not perform a smog check on my car because he was too busy. His reason was he had 5 cars ahead of me. I told him I was willing to wait, but he said no, and told me to come back on Saturday at 8 am if I wanted a smog test, because he wanted to close early at 3 pm. What kind of business turns away paying customers so they can close up shop early? I called ahead to check, showed up as instructed, and was turned away. I'm sitting on the chairs in this place. Third time I have been in the past week. My car didn't pass the first time and now I'm back for the retest. Henrik is really rude (the only person who works here). He has no customer service skills and actually smilled when he told me I didn't pass. (rude, I know) My dad decided he would come down and "have a talk with this guy", nonetheless the guy was extremeley rude! Do not come, his prices aren't that competitive. That time of year again for the dreaded smog test. My vehicle is still fairly new-ish so I didn't think it should have a problem so while driving around one day doing errands I kept my eyes open for a test-only place and found this shop in a little complex next to Scotty's Automotive and a bunch of other auto repair places. They were just finishing up another car so Henrik pulled my car in and performed the test. Ten minutes and $50 later and it was done. I must be a cheapskate because I thought $50 for 10 minutes of work was high but after comparing it with the prices on several other yelp reviews I found that this is actually cheaper than most places! Make no mistake though, this is a no frills kind of place. I think they might do a lot of business with the shops next door -- there are no chairs and no waiting area to speak of, but if there is no one ahead of you and all you need is a test (they cannot do repairs at this facility) then it's a quick in-and-out. The actual test is $39.75 + $8.25 for the smog certificate and $2.00 transfer fee. read more

We had been taking our cars here for years but no more, which is why I gave him two stars instead of one. Today, I was charged just under $100 for smog testing a regular pickup. Unfortunately I was in a hurry so I paid the price. His prices have increased significantly from the last time I had my truck tested at his facility. When I questioned him about his higher prices, he complained about the cost of living. Now I learn, after searching on Yelp, there are many other nearby test centers that could have tested the truck for $50 or 60 dollars. I know this because I called them to verify their prices. Would not test my car because of an aftermarket product even though I had the proper documentation and stickers. He looked up the product which is listed as used on GM engines, including my year. He said he would not test it because I have a Chevy which in his words "was not GM". read more

What more can you ask for. You don't need to print or mention a coupon and you still get rates that are on par with everyone else. It was $50 total for test and cert. The guy here is pretty quiet, but he tries to keep you entertained with a DVD while you're waiting. Not sure what some people expect out of a Smog Check place. I came here a bit after 9am on a Saturday. I waited in line behind 3 others. The first customer was very talkative, and wasted a lot of time for the owner (or whoever was working, seemed like the owner). 2nd customer seemed to leave right after talking to the owner, and the owner went to work on the 3rd customer's car. I took a seat and customer number 1 started badgering me after several minutes of me not replying and looking at my phone the first customer finally left. After at least 15 minutes of waiting, the owner came and took my mailer from the DMV and then asked what year the car was. He refused to smog my car because it is model year 1997. He claimed there was something wrong with his computer. Regardless of whether the excuse was true, having to wait 15 minutes to find this out while being badgered by another customer is pretty terrible. read more
