Came in today for a smog test. The owner is super friendly and was able to test my car right away. Aaaaand, he has a business partnership with the DMV, so I was also able to take care of everything in one spot! It cost a little extra ($25), but it's totally worth it for the convenience! He also provides complimentary drinks (water, soda, coffee, and tea), a really nice touch as you wait the 15 minutes. Will definitely come back the next time I need to get my smog checked. read more

When you forgot you went paperless at the DMV and then missed the whopping two emails they sent you two months apart to notify you about your car registration renewal being due, just go over to Amerismog to get your smog check and get your new tag on the spot for an additional $25. Money well spent for my own oversight, I was driving around on an expired tag for over a month. (I realized it while driving home on a Wednesday, made the appointment online that night, showed up on Thursday morning, got it done. Whew.) read more

I would definitely recommend this place! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - * Easy-to-navigate appointment system which you can book online or through the phone. * Good price and they offer coupons! I used the $10 off coupon I got in the mail but I believe they have a $22 off coupon on yelp/on their website. * Nice service! I think the same man helped me both times and he is very nice. * They give you all the paperwork you need with a list of what is done and the costs upfront. * They offer same day appointments but just call ahead to ask just in case. * Super fast service. Done in less than 20 minutes. Tips: * Book online and you can fill out all of your car's info and add a little note if needed. * There is parking on the side of the building and in the front. I feel bad leaving a one-star rating but I didn't exactly have an any-star-worthy encounter soooo I guess it be like that sometimes? Had an appointment last weekend. I have a classic car that's been restored over the last year, and I needed to smog it to get the registration back in order. When we got there, the guy came out and was kinda chastising me because he said he'd tried calling me but I didn't answer. I'd gotten 3 calls earlier that afternoon but didn't answer because it was an unknown number (it was his cell, not the business phone). I told him as much, and said maybe it would be helped if he'd, you know....*left a message*. Anyway, he said the machine for "older vehicles" was broken and he couldn't test my car. And then he said to go to his friend's shop, way across town off San Carlos, and his friend Heux (sp?) there would do the test for $60. He said he'd tell Heux we were coming. I wasn't thrilled about that but whatever, shit happens. We arrived at the other shop and found Heux. We told him that his friend at Amerismog sent us over. His eyes got big and he goes, "Him?!! He's not my friend. He's LAZY!! His machine isn't broken. He just doesn't wanna DO it!!!!" Hahahah gotta admit, I was kinda cracking up. Heux said the other guy just doesn't want to do the work required to smog an older car and he always sends people over to the San Carlos shop to get around it. And then when we told him the $60 part, his reaction was nothing short of comical. I mean, at least it was entertaining. Anyway, Heux said he doesn't have the experience to run the older-car test himself, and wasn't sure he could even do it. I said it's fine, not his fault (and the other guy hadn't let him know we were coming, obviously). So we just cackled a bit and I ended up booking an appointment with Adem's shop a couple days later. I went to AmeriSmog because my usual smog test station was booked and these guys had an appointment available same-day. AmeriSmog was easy and affordable (with the help of the Yelp check-in coupon). Best part was the total character who checked me in and tested my car. He seemed straight out of a Cheech & Chong movie. Nice guy, man... Downside was while the experience was efficient, what it wasn't was luxurious. The waiting area is a couple chairs in a cramped old-school lobby or a couple chairs outside. This time I shopped around for a better deal but even with coupons at other places Amerismog still had the best price. Dave made room in his schedule for me even though I didn't have an appointment. I walked in without an appointment. The rep put me on his schedule (white board), and I was able to get my smog check at the exact time he put me down for. It was convenient they are opened on Sunday, which is rare when it comes to smog checks. The smog check took less than 15 minutes to complete. Also, shoutout to the rep. He was welcoming and was cognizant of how long people were waiting. He was the only person doing the smog check, answer the phone, and completing the transaction. Highly recommend! read more

Dave answered my phone call, twice, and upon visiting provided the utmost excellent service, joked a bit and he made the experience and phenomenal visit. Very unprofessional, one guy that works there is raggedy looking & seems kinda shady. He told me my car didn't pass smog because of my air intake, which happens to be certified carb legal with the sticker indicating directly on the intake. Took the car back yesterday to try & get it sorted out, I saw a different man who essentially told me, because the other guy messed up he wasn't able to help me because & I quote " we can't have two guys working on the same car " I wouldn't trust these guys with a bicycle. read more

Arrived at before 9am to try to get my smog done first thing in the morning. Business hours listed online and on the business door say it opens at 9am. Waited over an hours and still no one arrived to open shop. Total waste of time! Went to MT smog and was helped as soon as I arrived. Another was waiting with me when I arrived but they had more sense, they waited 15 min after 9 and left. Maybe this place works if you have an appointment. If that's the case they should not offer walk ins. If their hours changed they should be updated. read more
