Food was good. Service was good. Ambiance was cool -- maybe a former gas station or auto service center? I like that they were open at 11am on a weekday. I had the brisket. Took a little bit longer than expected to get our food, but not terribly long.

Rib Tip & Dark Meat Chicken Combo *** w/ Sauce on Side

I love Lark's. I've been going to Lark's since 2000 when they used to be in that old gas station up Main Street a ways. Back in the day when you ordered your order was received slabs of meat cane out of a window and were ferociously chopped up with a meat clever. I miss that experience, but none the less their BBQ is top notch. Always on point. I have learned to order my BBQ with the sauce on the side SOS. That's a personal preference. Their sauce is amazing not too sweet, no too sour and with a little kick at the end. Love it! I just like to taste the meat and I think they do a jerk rub on the chicken, but I've never asked. I always call when I'm on my way so I can come in and pay and eat. Which suits me just fine. The picture below is of their Combo with Rib Tips & Dark Meat Chicken. Amazing one of my favorite meals in SWMI. If you have not been? Give them a shot. They are part of the foundation and soul of Benton Harbor and it shows in their delicious food.

Awesome BBQ ribs and catfish. First time here at another's recommendation and I will return and recommend. This is true wood smoked meat.

Good amount of food for the price. It does take a minute for food to come out, but that just means it's fresh. Wish there were more options for dinners (meat with sides included), but I can't complain. The facility was very clean.

Seemed to be one of the few resturants opened in downtown area on a Friday night. The restaruant was interesting. You go in, order first, then find a seat. There are not waiters. So towards the end of the meal we realized there are no waiters, so we had to go up and ask for a refill of water and was not sure what to do with our trays. Pretty pricey menu for quanitty and quality of food. Got the large pulled chicken, ~$10 for bowl of chicken, sauce, and a side. Also got 2 corn breads. The chicken was very dry, probably would not get it again. The corn bread was very very dry, would not recommend getting it, but there are other breads and sides you could try that looked and sounded better.

The first taste of that pulled chicken sandwich was fantastic! Juicy, tangy, so flavorful. Not to mention very hospitable staff. This spot is open for business during Covid and there is dine-in available. Just to prove how good this place is, there were people in line or picking up food the entire time we were eating. Their menu has a good variety of sides, sandwiches, and platters and their prices were very reasonable. Really enjoyed and would highly recommend!.

All I can say is 10/10!!! The food was amazing and the service was even better. The fish and brisket sandwiches were delicious and crispy. The fries and corn nuggets were hot and fresh. The brisket sandwich was saucy and well seasoned. The catfish burger is to die for and fried very well! I will definitely be back again!

    Shrimp po boy

Although the workers were friendly, the food was not up to par. I ordered a small brisket (unbelievably dry. It was smothered in barbecue sauce. I don't know if it helped/made it worse) and Lark's Rib Tips (very tough. I had to wrench it out of my mouth.) A friend ordered ribs, gumbo (decent) and something else. Boy ordered a shrimp po' boy sandwich. The shrimp were so small. About the size of a quarter. Disappointed in the quality of the food, but I liked the atmosphere and customer service.

The online ordering option is nice but it does auto-set to an 18% tip, so be aware of that. You can change it though. Average - Rib tips were ok but I have had better at the Larks Girls bbq truck. Too much fat and not enough meat, and not enough sauce. The white bread was under all of the meat and sauce, so that is unusual. It is usually on the side or on top at places. Dressing and mac are just ok. I like the sauce in the smothered pork chops but I prefer a different quality of meat. The cornbread is flat, like johnny cakes. They were ok but one was burnt. They were out of mashed potatoes both times and they gave me white rice instead on a delivery order instead of calling me. They were also out of banana pudding the 2nd time and Uber Eats did call me to ask about taking peach cobbler instead. It was mostly just sweetened dough and syrup, not much peach. Would not get again. Both orders were placed in the afternoon, so if you are running out of stuff that early, maybe online ordering is not the best option for you. They also don't accept notes in the system so you can tell them what to substitute.

The typical parking lot was fenced off so we had to utilize the street parking nearby. We were told to choose a seat and they'd be right with us. They only opened at 11am, at by the time we got there around 12:30 it was starting to fill up a bit already. My husband got the "in a van down by the river" cocktail, which I tasted, and we both agreed was delicious. For our appetizer, which we had never ordered one before from this establishment, we got the Wisconsin cheese curds. The sauce it came with reminds me of a good sauce for onion rings and was just as amazing on the cheese curds (it was called Sunny ranch I believe). We both got our usual entrees, my husband ordered a double smash burger and I got the atomic punk sandwich, both of which came with fries. My husband devoured his food, while my anxiety basically required me to wait until we got home to eat. I would definitely recommend stopping by The Brick House and grabbing a bite to eat. Overall, the experience was modest at best. I did eat my po boy which had a very good bread and also the bourbon beef itself was OK. I did not enjoy the gumbo at all. The flavors did not feel right to me, but maybe somebody else would enjoy this. I would give this restaurant a 3.5 out of five stars, I will say that the options were very affordable and the restaurant was clean. Awesome flavor to meat and a nice soft roll (Kosher Salt on top of roll a little weird). Texas Hot Link Sandwich, again, very good. Maybe not quite as good as Brisket. Served on Texas Toast. BBQ Sauces were a hit and a miss (Again for me). Spicy sauce was spicy and pretty good. Sweet one was not good. There was also a Mustard Sauce and a Coffee sauce that I did not try.
