Very Disappointed in the "12-Point Inspection" and Customer Service…read more We brought our car to Hometown Auto in Stoneham on April 19 for a routine oil change that included a 12-point inspection. Just eight days later, our car died while we were traveling out of state--right in the middle of Letchworth State Park. We were stranded for nearly two hours waiting for AAA, which was incredibly stressful. When the technician arrived, he jump-started the car and immediately noticed severe corrosion on the battery terminals. He said it was one of the worst he'd seen. We had to cut our trip short and find an AutoZone to replace the battery that same day. That technician echoed the same sentiment about the corrosion. Yes, shame on us for not looking under the hood ourselves before the trip--but that's exactly why we count on routine services like a 12-point inspection to flag major issues. A severely corroded battery should have been obvious. When I called to express my concerns, "Mark" offered a vague apology before going on the offensive, claiming we never follow through with recommended repairs. We actually do--we just do them closer to home. I checked all our receipts from past visits and not once has a battery issue been mentioned, verbally or in writing. Mark ended the call by saying, "If you don't like it, then don't come back." That was both unprofessional and disappointing. We've been loyal customers, but this experience--with both the lack of real inspection and the dismissive attitude--makes us question the integrity of the service here. We will not be returning.

My mechanic recommended me to Nickole Auto Body, Saugus, MA, owner Ernie Nickole. I cannot explain how well he took control and met with the insurance adjuster at his shop where I brought my vehicle. The XK is an aluminum body and not to many repair people can work on them. The custom paint is what I worried about the most, matching the rest of the vehicle. The rest of the story gets better. After approval given by the Insurance Company, 2 days, he got me right in and I had my car back in 5 days. It is an unbelievable work of art. You cannot even tell that anything happened. I recommend them highly for any repair but especially if you have a specialty vehicle.

I was lied to and scammed by John. He charged me over $1000 for a brand new radiator, in November,…read morewhen the reality is all he did was patch the crack that he said was in it and still continued to charge me for a new one. He told me it was the starter so he replaced that. He was wrong!! So he said he would write off the starter instead of doing the labor to take it out and just replace the radiator with something "around the same price, maybe a little more." No less than 5 months later did my car start overheating. The kicker was when it started smoking to the point I called the fire department and they told me it looked like something melted and was burning (I presume the "patch" he thought would suffice) instead of, you know, just putting in the new radiator he charged me for like a MAYBE halfway decent mechanic. When my car started overheating again I locked my debit card because my car was never actually fixed the right way and who pays for something that isn't what they were told they were paying for?? I am a young mother and I am absolutely NEVER going to give money to a "mechanic" who has now made my vehicle and CHILD unsafe. Fast forward to today, my car is in a new TRUSTED mechanic shop and that is when I was told it was patched and nowhere near brand new (remember this was replaced in November) My boyfriend and I called him today two separate times and two separate times he couldn't even be bothered to listen. All he did was talk and yell over me like a child and then HUNG UP like an even bigger baby. Apparently because of my mother's "past due balance" which in reality, he stopped taking money out of her account. She reached out multiple times and he never once got back in touch. When he did get back in touch it was a survey about how well they are doing. Clearly he has a track record of some shady business. I am now being screwed over, punished, and not listened to because of something that has nothing to do with MY issue. Lying, scamming, and then speaking to CUSTOMERS the way you did today is absolutely no way to get any money owed. And I know for a FACT I am not the first person he has done this to and it will definitely not be the last. You should've never gotten the $1000+ I paid in the first place considering what you charged me for was not even done. If you're going to come back and say "well you got a free starter", don't forget your the professional who was WRONG. The fact that this person is running a business this way, in fact running a business at all, is an absolute joke. He is a scammer, he is a liar, and he is a pathetic excuse for a man. They offer rides if you're local if your car is going to be a while. Victor helped me both times I needed work done on my car and it's always been a very pleasant experience. Very communicative and friendly. Kelly is also super friendly too. They even have resident birds and turtles - very unique for a mechanic shop. Hopefully, my car is done having tantrums but if it has another one, I'll 100% return here.
