In the past several years, while living out of state, I noticed a significant drop in the quality of dental care--when I could even find a dentist who accepted my insurance and was taking new patients. Many dentists complained about my insurance plan, saying they planned to drop it because it no longer paid enough, or they were relocating their practices to states with better reimbursement rates. This was with one of the big two carriers. The care I received from those other dentists often felt rushed, like they were just checking boxes to bill my insurance, rather than truly caring about my oral health. At my last visit to Castro Valley Family Dentistry, John took the time to explain that he had made the difficult decision to no longer be in-network with my insurance provider. He said he hoped I would continue to be a patient. I told him I wouldn't go anywhere else unless I absolutely had to. Honestly, it didn't matter to me--even if I had to pay 100% out of pocket (thankfully, the difference is only about 10% between in-network and out-of-network). I recognize that not everyone is in a financial position to make that choice, and it's a privilege to be able to decide where to spend your healthcare dollars. But for me, continuing to be a patient here--where I know they genuinely care and the quality of care is far beyond anything I've experienced elsewhere--is worth every penny.

My teeth had always been straight- I wasn't aware they had shifted. They didn't look any different to me. But they were changing and I found out my bite was severely off, bu at least 60%+! Dr. Busquet is treating a close friend as well. We both love seeing him. He is very personable, gentle, and patient. You can tell he loves what he does. Luckily for me, he is also a specialist including TMJ (Temporomandibular Joint). I had been clenching my teeth for years and had a special retainer at night, but it wasn't helping and my gums had been receding for several years too. My dentists and hygienists told me it was due to something I wasn't doing to care for my teeth. But Dr. Busquet informed me there was nothing I could do to make the situation better because of the way my teeth were positioned! ( what?!) When he showed and explained the X-rays to me, I was in shock. Who knew?!! He said I was losing bone in my jaw as well- which could grow back if my teeth were repositioned. My dentists never mentioned anything like this. After due diligence researching braces, I realized a lot of dentists can provide Invisalign at what seems to be bargain prices. BUT, what they dont tell you is that the liners are only one part. It doesn't include everything you will need; once they provide everything, the price will be higher or they will leave some things out. Once I realized what the entire process required, I understood I needed an orthodontist, and preferably a specialist. My last two dentists never said anything to me about me needing braces and they are both top tier Invisalign providers! Wowzers. I am just finishing my treatment. Now I see the difference! :o) Once I started wearing braces, my jaw stopped clenching. My migraine headaches got so much better and my gums stopped receding. They have been so patient with me. I had to double my treatment time because I couldn't keep them in my mouth as long as I was supposed to. But, they never made me feel bad about it. The front office staff is wonderful. I couldn't ask for better, kinder or more professional staff. They are simply the best.
