Consumer beware... this company serviced our furnace in the attic and right after they left (unknown to us) the furnace started leaking as the condensation pipe they had blown on during their 'tune up' they unfortunately jarred apart and it started to slow leak condensation into our walls!! We gave them a fair chance to take responsibility for this before posting a bad review by sending an email and certified letter to them with repair invoices (costs we incurred) and photos of the flood damage asking for reimbursement (under 3k), but they took zero responsibility. Despite being the last ones to touch the pipe they sent me a lengthy email back blaming the people that installed the furnace five years prior when the house was built, claiming it was installed incorrectly! Can you imagine?! Mind you these people have serviced our furnace the last three years and never once mentioned a faulty installation as part of their duty to let us know if something with our furnace wasn't right!!! I would absolutely not use this company unless you're willing to have your house flooded due to their negligence and then get stuck with the bill ontop of the stress of your brand new home being damaged. What a shame they wouldn't take any kind of accountability. I'll never use them ever again. read more

I have used Larsen before as they have replaced the AC/heat in two different townhouses. So I recommended them to my daughter for her townhouse when her system went down. They came and replaced a fuse for $300, but they warned her that the unit was original with the 30-year home and it was on its last legs. It surely would break over the hot summer and would need to be completely replaced at $8 to $9k if she agreed to do it right now. Or, if she waited, she was told that it would cost more this summer. I was on the phone and heard the salesman say this. I told her to first get a second opinion because this just sounded too much like a pressure job on a single 20-something female. We had another local company come that same day and they inspected the system. They told my daughter that the system was only 6 or 7 years old--not 30--and showed her the proof. It has plenty of life ahead, completely contradicting Larsen's technician. This second company did not charge my daughter a penny to come out and said they wouldn't give her a quote because she did not need a new unit. I am so glad my daughter got a second opinion. Now I am wondering if my other two units really needed their systems replaced. Larsen has lost my trust and I won't use them again. I will not recommend them and have found a new heating/ac company I will use in the future. Honesty counts. I asked for a response from the owner and he has not written me back. My home A/C was having issues cooling the house temperature below 80 degrees. I decided to call Larsen Heating and Air because of their positive reviews online. They were friendly over the phone and were able to get me scheduled the next day. The technician showed up on time and was very nice. However, I was less then pleased with the work provided. I explained the issue we were having and he went straight to work. Within a few minutes he told me the capacitor needed to be replaced and that it would cost $255. Of course I agreed to change the part. Then he said that I could use a more Freon in the system. The cost of Freon R22 was $336 for a pound. He ended up only needing to put 12.5oz of Freon in the system, but of course, still charged me for a pound. He then cleaned some dust off the coils of our inside AC unit. He turned the machine on and it seem like it was working better than before. I paid the $600 and he was gone. Just a few hours later, the A/C was blowing hot air. It was actually working worse than before, instead of cooling the house to 80 and no lower, it now wouldn't get below 87! So my wife and I decided to call them back the next day. They were able to squeeze us into their schedule quickly. The technician said we were completely out of freon in the system because of a bad leak. He recommended we get a new AC installed and that it would cost $3400. Now my A/C is original to the house and next year it will be 20 years old. I was totally expecting to be told that I needed a new A/C. My frustration comes from the fact that the first technician did not do a full diagnostic of the system or even offer to check for a leak. It was also frustrating being charged for a whole pound of Freon when the system only needed 12.5oz in it. And lastly, but perhaps the thing I am MOST frustrated about, is that I truly believe they made our leak worse than it was before. For two weeks our AC wouldn't get below 80, but would at least stay at 80, which shows that this was clearly a slow leak. When they "fixed my AC", only a few hours later it was completely out of Freon. So for now I am out an A/C with my wife and one year old daughter at home. I will be looking at other options when it comes to buying and installing a new unit. All in all great customer service over the phone, scheduling, and they showed up on time. But I am absolutely not happy with the service and work provided by the technician. I believe they made the problem worse. We paid $600 but ultimately need a new unit. Definitely would not recommend this company to another person. read more

I called Larsen because they had decent reviews and they were close to my house. I was expecting to freeze in my house for a few days after the first company that I called told me that they were 2 weeks out for an appointment. Larsen got a technician out the very same day. Paris Vasquez (the technician) showed up right on time, he was very thorough, he explained everything very well, he took the time to walk me through what he was doing, he taught me a few troubleshooting things to look out for, and he went out of his way to call and find out if a certain part was still within warranty. If anyone is looking for great HVAC people these guys were incredible. They have after hours dispatch for emergencies and can come any time. Our furnace was on the fritz all week and finally quit last night. The guy called me back within 5 minutes of leaving a message at 11:30pm last night. With nighttime lows in the single digits it was a concern. He was super nice, and let me know the price difference if I waited until morning, that our house would be fine for one night and not have frozen pipes, and also that it would be better worth our time to have him come when he can get parts right away. He had our furnace repaired within 45 minutes and we finally have heat. Also, he helped save us money on our very tight budget. In less than 12 hrs, our heat is on and the house is almost warm again. I was super impressed with how quickly they responded. But it went downhill from there. The technicians didn't communicate with me: -when my water & electrical was being turned off. -hours late to the job, hours longer on the job My father-in-law has done heating and air for 30 years in California and after showing him the work they did he scoffed. It all works, it but it is all done sloppy. We called and had them come back to fix a little (after our contractor said they did somethings wrong). They fixed a tiny repair, and said they would charge us to fix their sloppy work. I'm glad they aren't this way on every job, but I'll never recommend them and never call them again. read more

Jim Sparks came out, did some trouble shooting, and had us fixed for a fraction of a fraction of what I almost spent! Jim was very good to explain everything to me along the way. I would not recommend them, we had them out to my business because one of our central air units was collecting condensation and leaking into our drop ceiling. The tech came out promptly and was very cordial, he performed a repair which included around $130 for diagnosis and went on his way. I was initially very impressed with the timeliness in which things were resolved. Unfortunately we found the next day that the problem had it not been taken care of. Further condensation saturated several roof panels and caused one to collapse and fall from around 25 feet up. I placed a second call for them to come back out and found that the initial issue was not fully diagnosed and that it was caused by a clogged drain. I understand that mistakes happen and given the state of our AC unit there could be several issues. My frustration with the business is that they were attempting to charge a second diagnostic fee and requested payment for the first visit immediately. As a business we frequently conduct transactions with other businesses and make payment via a purchase order. This request for immediate payment specifically following a failed repair attempt and seeking more diagnosis has given me reason to continue my search for a company to maintain our businesses air-conditioning units. read more

Called to get their price on R-22 freon. Was told $300 per pound!!! I understand markups but when a 30 lb can goes for $18 - $27 per pound that is just crazy. Every other place I called charged between $55 and $180. read more

I am sitting here in my nice air conditioned home and didn't spend a lot of money because I didn't use Larsen. Please Shop around!!! Larsen came out and did a diagnostic test for $69 and said that the cost to replace the capacitor and the compressor for $1700 ,or offered to replace the entire unit and gave prices from $1800 to $2300 for different brands. The option to fix it was offered to have the parts in the next day, or the new unit could be installed in a week. Larsen had no qualms about being dishonest and and basically said, sorry its 2 months out of warranty and you need a new expensive air conditioner. Turns out the compressor was not bad as they said. I had a second and third opinion who both concluded it was simply the capacitor, basically a $15 dollar part plus labor. I hired Larsen Heating and Air to come out and repair a problem with my A/C unit. The tech who came over worked on the unit for almost 2 hours trying to figure out why the fan would not run. He checked the compressor specifically and said it was fine, but after trying dozens of times to get the fan to start the compressor burned up. Now the unit worked when he arrived and was broke 2 hours later so I think the problem falls on the company. Bret the owner boasts about his "customer service" but when there is a problem and true customer service counts this guy is rude and arrogant. This is a small company and I would look elsewhere because as long as things go well then it's easy to say how great they take care of their customers. When things go wrong this company is horrible. The company who referred these guys is still apologizing and offered discounts on a new unit. Now Bret that is customer service. read more
