We received what is in picture. When we asked if we could get a free refill the waiter said it was good and refilled my cup. When we where leaving the same guy stopped us and told us we owed $5. We love this place!! We went on our honeymoon to PR and stayed at the Marriott in San Juan (Isla Verde area). This cafe was a five minute walk for us - we went there every single morning haha. Their empanadas are amazing - crispy and warm and their French toast is so thick (and really good with some Nutella and whipped cream). The customer service was also very good every time we went. Great casual spot for breakfast in Isla Verde. Although there can be a bit of a wait for breakfast on the weekends (due to many pickup orders). I highly recommend the tenerife omlette which is filled with spanish cheese and croquetas de jamon. You will definitely be able to share this with another person. I only tried their pastellios but they were good & the guy at the counter was very friendly & accommodating. He packed my stuff to go as requested and put everything inside that I would need without me asking. Most places do not do that or they forget. The menu is limited to the basics, but I enjoyed a ham and cheese omelet one morning and fried eggs and bacon on another. Both meals came with the most delicious toast. I'm sure if you're reading this, you're a local... or you're staying at the Ritz Carlton. I did and I ended up here every morning. The cafe con leche here is strong (add your own sugar!) The food..... is better than it is at the Ritz with the usual breakfast items (the bacon looks a little questionable), pan, empanadas, and other baked goods. Apparently, this place is open all day and all night and, therefore, serves actual meals. I never actually never made it in those hours. Great place for a quick bite. read more

I had a hefty side of bacon added for just $1. Loved the café style atmosphere of this place. You order at the counter and go up and grab your order when it's ready. Employees work efficiently, and you can get in and out in a few minutes or hover over your coffee for as long as you like. My hubby would have rated this place 5 stars, he really loved it. We were staying at the Ritz Carlton one block away and went here twice. Amazing sandwiches! The roast beef is real and tasty, and the chicken club sandwich is awesome too! It takes about 10 minutes to get your sandwiches after you order (this is obviously not a Subway), but it's worth the wait. The pastries & muffins look so delicious, but we didn't try them. Try the breakfast sandwiches - I had the bacon, egg and cheese. Hit the spot! The puerto rican coffee is really good too. The prices are very reasonable. The service is only ok. There was a very long line and they kept trying to rush through it, which seemed to make the problem worse (they forgot a few of our items in their rush). This was a convenient stop as it was right next to the hotel we were staying in while vacationing in Puerto Rico, but I would classify it as fast Puerto Rican food at very expensive prices. I wanted to try this place for breakfast, as those were the reviews that appeared to be the best, but we never took the opportunity. The pastries also looked fairly decent. The ham croquettes were great, and served as a fantastic, quick, "tide me over until I can eat something substantial," and we stopped in for exactly that several times during our stay, as well as for the coffee, which was also very good...but the large cup was what many other establishments I have frequented would classify as a small cup. We finally ate here for lunch and no one in our party was impressed. We got an order of the octopus, an order of chicken chunks, and the skirt steak. None of it was impressive. The octopus was the least enjoyable I have ever tasted, and the chicken chunks - in case you do not understand the concept - are truly chunks of chicken, sliced and diced as randomly as possible, bones and all, and then fried to a crispy, flavorless perfection...nothing tasty about that. They also have an assortment of baked sweets such as danishes, donuts, cake, cupcakes and cookies. Food is made to order and comes out fairly quickly. I really enjoyed their Potato Balls filled with meat and the Empanadas. Fresh squeezed juice was also very good. The sandwiches are tasty and decently priced. Pick one up and head to the beach or pool. Eat half now, the other half later. The egg sandwiches were made to order and grilled to perfection. And gigantic! Definitely enough for two and served on french bread with your choice of cheese and meat. My sister's french toast was large and served with packet syrup. At $5, you can't really scoff the packet syrup. Breakfast was $20 for two, daily. Half the price of the hotel buffets and much more satisfying. For lunch, we especially loved the tasty fried beef potato ball, yellow rice, and cuban sandwich which was by far the best had on the island - full of ham, pork, and flavor. They also have a decent selection of cold craft beer and wine. You can tell the cappuccino was made with quality roasted beans. Here they serve cappuccino con pana aka whipped cream. Seems to be a local, more authentic puerto rican place on the strip of hotels. We were here for breakfast and didn't find it to be anything spectacular or memorable. However, we realized that no Puerto Rican breakfast is anything to rave about. Not that that's a bad thing! Just that it's not anything really that far off the charts from American breakfast. We ordered some beef and chicken empanadas. It was't on the menu but it was in the display for ordering. $2.50 a pc and we chose to order that over the average egg and toast breakfast.
