Best Pollo Latino - the name was bold, but this place was actually pretty tasty! Their menu includes Chef's Specials (such as pollo guidsado, taco de res, pescado frito, lomo saltado, etc.), sandwiches, soups, sides, and Peruvian chicken in 1/4, 1/2, and whole. We came here for lunch, and we ordered: +a 1/2 Chicken - this came with 2 sides, so we opted for fries and rice; the chicken was very juicy and tasty; the skin was somewhat on the saltier side, which I didn't mind; we only requested the aji sauce, which is more mayo-based, but complemented the chicken well; both the fries and the rice were actually pretty good The meal was very filling! Service was very kind and welcoming, and the staff does a great job in making sure the tables are wiped down after each guest(s). Located in the Gum Springs Shopping Center, there's parking available in the shared plaza lot. +tasty Peruvian chicken +friendly & kind staff +located in the Gum Springs Shopping Center +parking available

Super yummy rotisserie chicken place. My fries were crispy and very hot, the chicken was seasoned nicely and was moist with crispy skin, and the plantains were excellent! Very good service, staff were great in helpful me find something safe to eat with my severe shellfish allergy. They do serve shrimp here but they do not fry it, so you can still eat the fries and plantains because they're not fried with shrimp. $1 extra to add plantains to meal, so half chicken with two sides (fries and plantains) was $17, which is pretty standard. Clean dining room, plenty of seating, plenty of parking when I visited. You can probably order in English, but they couldn't really understand detailed food allergy questions in English so I switched to Spanish. That's probably not a problem for a regular order though.

Their food unfortunately didn't meet my expectations. There were maybe 2-3 small sections of the chicken that still had blood. One of the pieces was also a bit cold. I hate to give this place two stars but that was my experience. I'm disappointed.

The chicken was amazing! The skin was so savory and the portion size was phenomenal. They also have Inca Cola so big bonus. The yucca, however was just alright, a little too thick and not enough flavor. Still a great value for your money.

Quarter chicken with two sides, $7.40 incl tax. Mmmm

Decent rice and fries, but the meat is mostly dry and hard if you get the lomo saltado

The ceviche is really good, can never go wrong with ceviche, especially if you're going tapas style. The ají de gallina, lomo saltado and lamb are so freaking good, the meat is tender, the sauces are perfection, and when you mix the rice to with the sauce it's absolutely delicious. Heard about this place a while, finally tried it out a couple times now, already can't wait to go back!

You can definitely taste some Cantonese influences. Corazón: Very unique. The beef heart was grilled very tender, and the spicy and tangy dipping sauce was refreshing. I've also never had such large kernels of sticky corn before. Lomo Saltado: Similar to Cantonese black pepper and beef cubes stir-fry, but noticeably coarser. The meat was a bit tough and dry, the sauce didn't coat it well, and it wasn't very flavorful. Chaufa Mixto: Chaufa = chaofan 炒飯 (fried rice in Chinese) A very straightforward transliteration. Similar to Chinese fried rice, it had plenty of wok hei 鑊氣 (wok aroma), which is rare in the US. The beef and chicken were quite tender; however, the shrimp wasn't fully cooked, and you could clearly taste the raw texture inside. Vegetales Salteados: Seasoned exactly like Lomo Saltados, it's even stranger to use it for stir-frying vegetables... It was entirely for the vegetables' benefit; otherwise, it was completely unnecessary. Suspiro: Dulce de leche custard, meringue, and passion fruit glaze, sprinkled with cinnamon powder--it was far too sweet.

The line was long but they were very open about why it was taking a while (they wanted to ensure they only took orders they could fulfill and check their food inventory), once we ordered it was very fast! The food was delicious and so well made! The half chicken was what we got and it's alot of food so be ready to eat! The rice, plantains, and yuca are so yummy, highly recommend any of those sides. Though what I really like about the place changed. When I first went all they offered was Chicken, Cole slaw, and fries. In a world of many option I actually thought this sent a message that we are so good we only offer a limited choice that's you will enjoy. Tbf the fries can't compete w McD or Chikfila Waffle fries but they were good. The service counter is modernized and they are efficient and friendly. The layout if the restaurant is still basic like the limited menu they used to have. No frills no gimmicks just good food. Still the same vibe The chicken was still very good. Other places are fairly close but Apollo Rico is just a touch better. The charred seasoning is evident. What tipped the scales for me in comparison to other places I've been is the green sauce. It liked fresh. It wasnt like other places where that has the consistency of ketchup it looked bright green and freshly made vs other places where it seems as if it was poured out a container.

But the shrimp saltado was forgettable, and the chicha morada was a letdown -- mostly ice, barely any flavor. It tasted like purple-tinted water, not the real thing. I bought two empanadas to bring home to my mother and asked specifically for two chicken. The employee at the register was friendly, but kept nudging me toward one beef, one chicken. I said no. I explained my mother doesn't eat beef. She bit into one at home and stopped. It was beef. There was no way to know from the outside. I understand that mistakes can happen, but it was disappointing to receive the wrong empanada after I had specifically explained that my mother does not eat beef. What made the situation even more concerning was that the beef did not seem fresh. In addition, while the empanada looked properly baked and golden on the outside, the dough inside was still undercooked. Unfortunately, this experience changed my overall impression of the restaurant.
