I'm reviewing La Cazuelas, but please note this place is a Mexican/Italian restaurant and both options are delicious! The service here is always friendly, but if you don't speak Spanish, there might be a little language barrier. Food wise, everything here is great. From the quesadillas, to the steak burritos, to the menudo (so good!) this place definitely delivers. I know menudo isn't for everyone, but they make it so good here. I highly recommend it.

I love the food and the variety. The people are also really nice. My mom and I always get a Nutella dessert which is great.

Staff was great and very friendly. Food was great. We had Mexican and will try the Italian next visit. My dish had a smily on it wether or not it was intentional I enjoyed it

Came here on a Saturday night and they had live entertainment. A guy playing music and singing...loudly. Way too loud...we were sitting off the main dining area and it was still difficult to hold a conversation. They brought out chips and salsa. The chips seemed store bought...not freshly made and the salsas were not bad. I ordered tacos al pastor and I was not impressed. I have had better. The meat was tender but lacking flavor. It came with rice and refried beans. The rice was good, not mushy and had good texture. The refried beans were flavorless. The service was not very good. We had a young guy and he must have looked at my BF empty glass of tea about 10 times as he went back and forth and I finally asked him for a refill. I was really looking forward to trying this place out for some time now and I had high hopes. Will probably try it one more time to see if it was just an off night.

Being an El Paso, TX resident for 16 years, I KNOW Mexican food. Arrived here for brunch. The interior is nice, quaint and clean. We were seated promptly and our drinks as well. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. They brought out chips and 4 different salsas. I tried all of them; chipotle salsa was very tasty, the salsa verde was delicious and the salsa rosada was pretty good too. I was not a big fan of the pico de gallo as the tomatoes in it didn't taste very fresh. I ordered the huitlacoche (pronounced "wheat-la-co-cheh") quesadillas and I absolutely LOVED them! I also ordered the menudo which was very, very well made and very flavorful. Lots of places get menudo wrong, but Las Cazuelas gets it perfect! I am used to being served toasted white bread with menudo, but they served corn tortillas, so I was a little disappointed, but the menudo was so good I soon forgot about the lack of bread. The house coffee was decent, but they only serve powdered creamer or steamed milk, no half & half. It was a bit pricey for what I'm used to; in El Paso my meal would have been about $50 total, but then again, it's right by the border of Mexico. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here at Las Cazuelas and this will most likely be my go-to location for Mexican food.

The service was very good and quick. Big portions and the food was tasty. The drinks were a bit on the small size and lacked a little in tequila. Would recommend.

Can we say that this was the best little corner find we've tried in a while. Ambiance, cute and casual. This place is Italian and Mexican food. If u have diverse foodies in your home its the perfect spot to get the best of both worlds. Chips and salsa: standard with meals. The pico is delicious and fresh. They have this home made pink sauce that I've never tasted before and it is amazing. It's one of those put it on everything flavor!! Lunch, we went all out, since we weren't going to eat dinner we went for the shared giant trophy of molcajete. This is a mix of steak, chicken shrimp and ground beef with avocados, onions and all leaving on a bed of delicious and melted warm cheese it comes with a plate of sides, rice, tomatoes, lettuce and beans, tortillas are corn but u can ask for flour ones, those are my preference, and of course I love my sour cream. This plate is truly delicious and if U like authentic Mexican like we do u must try! Portion is enough for 2-3 ppl. We ate like a king and queen and I still had enough for the next day! Ask for the pink salsa to take home if u do have leftovers u won't regret it Dessert: we tried a Nutella calzone with ice cream that was ok. It has Nutella and pineapple not a fan of the flavor combo would have preferred a mix of bananas strawberries or something else. The pineapples did not do it for me Other than that this place is great! Definitely beaded back to try Italian menu soon. Stay tuned for updates!

The food is SO GOOD and authentic to Mexican food. I always ask green enchiladas for delivery and they come in time, warm and with extra salsas and nachos. Totally recommended.

Staff is polite and the place is clean. A bit odd though because it's two restaurants in one (Mexican and Italian). I suppose if you want a little bit of both it's convenient. Came in on a Sunday afternoon and there was no wait to sit. I saw the place with various tables filled and thought it promising. The order was taken fast but the food took forever to come out. We were getting a little impatient but felt maybe it was going to be awesome Mexican food. The on the house chips and salsa were good. I enjoyed those but things took a bad turn when the entree arrived. I came here off of the online statement of "real Mexican food" but was very disappointed. My chilaquiles had old tortilla chips, was too sour because of the tomatillo sauce and the sour cream and there was no contrast in flavor. The beans that accompanied it also had no flavor. Lastly my rice was regular white rice with yellow food coloring and canned vegetables. My spouse got the tacos Al Pastor and we had to send the plate back. It had no seasoning, was tasteless, and the beans and rice were the same as mine. We are not the type to go out and when we don't like some thing we return the plate however we just could not eat the tacos. I made an attempt to finish the Chilaquiles but regret the calories now because it wasn't worth it. The staff for nice though and apologized for the food quality and offered me a replacement. We didn't except though because we were afraid it was going to be the same. I would maybe come back to try the pizza however will not be coming back for the Mexican food.

Parking was a bit challenging due to the limited number of spaces, but once we walked inside, the experience more than made up for it. We were warmly greeted by Carolina, who also became our server. She was incredibly patient and took her time walking us through the menu, explaining each dish and how everything is prepared. Her dedication to customer satisfaction truly stood out, and we hope management recognizes what an asset she is. Carolina proudly shared that every item on the menu is made in‑house, and it absolutely shows. My wife ordered the Quesadilla de Pollo with a side of Arroz Mexicano and couldn't stop talking about the exceptional flavors. I chose the Tostada al Pastor, a small Tortilla Soup, and a side salad. Everything was delicious, but the Tortilla Soup was the star of the meal--a perfect example of why in‑house preparation matters. Since we're not from the area, we weren't sure where to go for lunch, and we truly lucked out choosing Don Maguey--and having Carolina as our server. Thank you, Carolina. When I looked 20 minutes after at my credit card statement read I had been charged $77 and change pending a potential tip on top of that, even with tip included it is still over approximately $7 what I signed off for. We called to determine the prices of each individual meal and "the manager" was stumbling to tell us the prices for everything. Even with the fake numbers that were given to us it still didn't add up correctly. I remember the prices for the 3 meals my family and I ordered and I remember what the check said. I let it be because maybe they need more than I do. As for the food, I'm born and raised on the border of Mexico and although I must say it does scream authenticity especially on appearance the meat is bland, and that "Mexican rice" is by far the worst tasting rice I've had. For a casual person that likes Mexican food you may like it, but if you know what you're tasting you will not. Also, they didn't have 4 different things on the menu available ultimately leading me to have to go with my 5th option. It is very expensive for what it is, and even more expensive when your waitress manipulates the system.

When you walk in, you place your order and pay for it and take a table number. You need to find your own table. Our service was pretty quick, despite how busy the restaurant was. Before going, we called the restaurant to ask if they would be showing the World Cup games, and we were told they would be showing all of them. Based on that, we expected a good viewing experience. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. There aren't enough TVs, many of the views are obstructed, and we actually had to move to the bar just to see part of the game. Even then, the music was so loud that we couldn't hear the match at all. When we asked the manager about it, he told us that ownership's instructions were to play music instead of the game's audio. That was especially surprising considering this is a Mexican-owned restaurant and the match was a Mexico World Cup game. The biggest disappointment, however, was the service. To be fair, the restaurant was only about half full, so this wasn't a situation where the staff was overwhelmed by a packed house or unusually heavy demand. I was there with two female friends. I ordered a martini while my friends simply asked for water. The bartender reacted as if asking for water was somehow an inconvenience. We weren't even served chips and salsa until we repeatedly waved down members of the staff and specifically requested them. The bartenders consistently ignored us. My friends waited nearly 20 minutes before anyone came back so they could order their martinis. We later ordered guacamole and the Leña skirt steak. The guacamole arrived promptly, but the steak never did. When we asked another bartender to check on it, he looked in the system and told us there was no food order entered at all. This was unbelievable because the original bartender had described the dish, asked how we wanted the steak cooked, and appeared to take the order. He simply never entered it. When we complained to the manager about the missing food, he told us the kitchen was already closed but that he would "make an exception" and have the steak prepared for us. That response really upset me because this wasn't us asking for special treatment--it was the restaurant trying to correct its own mistake. I told him to simply cancel the order. He then said not to worry because he wouldn't charge us for it, as if not charging for a meal would somehow make up for the experience we had just endured. I declined the offer, but he responded by saying he would bring it anyway and that if we didn't want it, we could just leave it there. To me, that response was even more dismissive and completely missed the point. Throughout the evening, the bartenders were inattentive, dismissive, and consistently rude. Their attitude completely overshadowed what had always been one of my favorite restaurants in Coconut Grove. By halftime, we had simply had enough. Instead of continuing what should have been a fun night, we decided to leave the restaurant and go home, where we watched the rest of the Mexico match in the comfort of my home. Sadly, that turned out to be the best part of the night. I'm writing this review because I know Koko is capable of much better. My previous visits have always been enjoyable, which made this experience even more disappointing. However, if you're planning to watch a World Cup match there, I would strongly recommend choosing another venue. While they may tell you they'll be showing the game, the viewing experience is poor, the game audio is replaced with loud music, and based on our visit, the service was, without question, the worst I've experienced there since the restaurant opened. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback seriously because Koko has always been one of my favorite restaurants, and I'd like to be able to recommend it again. Unfortunately, after this experience, I simply can't.

The music selection is fire though and I was jamming out the whole time while waiting for my food. I complimented them on the music selection and they mentioned the owner is dominican and puerto rican which explained the great music selection. I was helped out by Adrian and his service was helpful in finding what dishes to order. I took my food to go and it was piping hot, definitely made fresh to order which I enjoyed. The nachos were what I was most eager to try as they are all the rage on social media. They lived up to the hype and that nacho cheese is absolute gold. I love that it's served in a pizza box. It just makes it iconic. It travels well and everything was still hot when I got home. The Al Pastor taco was just okay, nothing to write home about but now the steak burrito was really really good. I love that they don't have rice in their burritos and instead replace it with potatoes, which is absolutely delicious. They give two different types of salsas with your order plus limes and the green salsa is unreal. Add it to everything for a flavor boost! All in all this place is fire and if you're craving nachos, this is definitely the place you should come to get your fix!

We are very disappointed that the chicken and steak burritos were not seasoned very well (bland) and both were so dry. I couldn't even taste any cheese in the chicken burrito either. I took a few bites and had to give the rest to our dogs. What a shame. My daughter couldn't finish her burrito either. I tasted her steak burrito and it didn't taste like any steak that I have ever tried. So disappointing. The guac and chips were good but they were like a little side dish. So, there went a wasted $50 for lunch. We were still hungry. Since it was a to-go order, we didn't feel like going back all that way again. It was a very hot day. Service was strange. I sat in the car but my daughter went up to the counter to pick up our order. She stood there for a long time in the hot sun and no one helped her. There was a bag sitting on the counter already. Finally when she was helped, the guy said that the bag sitting there was ours!! She was highly irritated fir the poor service. He should have checked to see if his customer was there to pick up the only bag on the counter. In retrospect, we should have tasted our burritos before driving home to taste them but we trusted them. Sorry to say, we won't be going back.
