What I got were burnt pieces of overcooked meat. Charred. Dry. The absolute opposite of what I had asked for. The meat wound up being discarded. The rice and plantains were good, but without the meat it was pointless. This was a complete disappointment, especially given that I was clear when I ordered as the receipt reflects. Last time I was here was like 20 years ago. I wasn't sure they were still there but I had a craving for fritanga. Ordering food here reminded me of "no soup for you" from Seinfeld. You best know the process or you get a stink eye from the servers behind the counter doling out your food. I wanted no rice with my sides but that was not an option: white rice or gallo pinto were my only choices. 2nd side was several different plantain options, beans or yuca. No greens or other veggie in sight. Everything is served in a to go container but they do have some tables. The line moves fast, no time for dawdling. Ambience is a cross between a school cafeteria and what I imagine an army mess hall. Food was served in huge portions. My steak in tomato sauce was ok in flavor but chewy in texture. The carne asado was cold and chewy (not a fan). Rice was ok and yuca was tasteless without their yummy sauce to pour over. Traffic at this place was insane! I don't care what anybody says about chain Nicaraguan restaurants. This one is the best. The food is always good not just sometimes like in other places, realistically speaking if the Carne Asada and the Gallo Pinto are good you have a solid place. I prefer the cheese that they have here instead of the chewy ones that are in other places, but that's a preference. Absolutely everything that comes out of here on a day-to-day basis feels fresh, taste fresh and is just downright good. I will say that sometimes the service leaves a little bit to be desired. But honestly, if you know Fritangas they're usually like that. The cacao here is also really good. The price point is also fair, the portion size is large. If you ask them for fresh cheese, they will make it. You just have to wait. As far as locations go this one is my favorite, but I've been to the one by Fontainebleau and the quality is just as good so honestly, you can't go wrong with either one of their establishments. read more

This Fritanga is still the best! All this variety of delicious food hot and ready to go. Flavors are all here and plates are always hefty. You can't eat a whole plate in one shot. One plate is basically two. You eat some now, the rest for later,lol. Choices is what it's all about. You start with what kind of rice you want. Will it be the white rice or the gallo pinto (rice and beans) then move on to the protein where they have a variety of meat, chicken, and even fish dishes. All grilled,fried, or in a sauce.I love the chicken fricase with the carrots and potato and every plate gets their cabbage salad and hot sauce. Moving on to your sides now its either the sweet plaintains or the mariquitas (long fried plaintain). You can have both if you like. To top it off though you gotta get the fried cheese. It just brings it all together. I've tried other Fritanga's but they always miss the mark. Either not hot enough, not much variety etc. Here food is always delicious, ready, hot, and waiting. My one & only fritanga spot. I've been going here since I was a kid. If you want the best Nica food this is where you go. The line pretty much always reaches to the exit, but the service is quick. I have never been dissatisfied with their food. I would always get the carne asada, gallo pinto, tajadas & queso BUT recently I discovered the carne asada in jalapeño sauce & sweet baby Jesus the best ever. I love spicy foods so it's perfection. My hubby usually get the pollo empanizado, with gallo pinto, tajadas, & queso. They serve a lot ! Well, I was craving fritanga so went there. The food is fresh, good, and comes with 2 pieces of carne asada. If you want an extra strip it's $3.50 each. Queso frito is an extra $1.75. If you just get the carne asada platter with maduros and gallo pinto it's $12.50 each. Definitely very filling and tasty, but what's uncalled for is the bad attitude of the women working there that are carrying out loud conversations about whatever while you're patiently waiting for them. This place is where it's at! This restaurant chain has been here ever since I can remember. This is a Nicaraguan restaurant. It isn't the "fanciest" place but it's definitely delicious and it's home cooking. They are constantly calling to the kitchen to make more of what they need. The amount of food you get compared to the price cannot be beat. I usually eat from my take out box twice. So you basically get a protein with 2 sides. But hold on it doesn't end there. Their FRIED CHEESE is to die for. Ugh I could eat that cheese all day. My husband doesn't speak Spanish so he usually points and they know exactly what he wants. So don't be shy to go on in. I usually don't eat at the location; I tend to pick up my food and my go to plate is carne asada, gallopinto (rice/beans), queso frito (fried cheese), maduros (fried plantains) and salad which comes out to $10. If I want to be extra I get this drink called cacao and tres leche for dessert. The staff are there to do a job and is serve you as fast as possible and get to the next person; they will not engage in any convo or even give you suggestions. If you haven't been here I recommend to look over the food and have your mind set on what you'll be ordering because not only does the staff get impatient but the customers as well. read more
