Stumbled onto this place while looking for some food. Always game for some good Mexican. Walked in latish on a Saturday night. The first thing I noticed was the door was ajar, it was kinda too warm inside, and the man singing was LOUD. We sat down and were served chips and 3 kinds of sauce. A hot spicy salsa, a green cilantro based salsa and some sort of cream based stuff. The hot was good, the green was pretty good and the creamy was not the favorite. The chips didn't taste homemade but they did the job. The main course was something I had never heard of before, Chilaquiles with eggs. It contained green tomatillo sauce, cilantro, onion, sour cream, Mexican cheese, rice and beans. It was ladled over more tortilla chips. It was a very interesting dish. Kinda sour, kinda spicy. The eggs could have been a bit softer but it was tasty. Over all it was a good meal, but not quite up to par with Los Magueyes but a good alternative if you find yourself in the area. read more

I've been here for breakfast (read last review) and now I've been for lunch and for dinner. The food here is EXCELLENT. The flavors are out of this world. The plates are no frills (if you order a Burrito, that is what you get, a burrito, no sides) but quite a good amount of food. My husband had the Carnitas Burrito and it was fabulous. The carnitas were slightly sweet with pineapple, and the burrito was also stuffed with rice, refried beans, chorizo, and lettuce. I had the sopes with bistec and it was very flavorful and though it didn't look like a lot of food, I was unable to eat all three of my sopes. We also ordered an appetizer of queso fundido with the corn tortillas and it was delicious. We had a Groupon and had not used up our $30 value so we decided to order the flan. Now, I am a self-admitted flan snob. I don't like any restaurant flans and I don't really like most people's flan. I like MY flan:) and I've had a small handful of decent flans made by friends and family. After searching long and hard throughout Miami and Homestead without much luck, we finally found it! Miami has many Mexican eateries some downright terrible while others are good, just not authentic. Las Cazuelas is a diamond in the rough, unique in that it offers some of Mexico's finest and traditional dishes such as Mole, Huitlacoche, Chile Rellenos, and Sopes. All these authentic dishes served in a clean pleasant setting and paired with Mexican welcoming friendly service. On many days the owner is serving in the restaurant, demonstrating his passion and attention to a great product and experience. Definitely worth it! You won't be disappointed! read more

I was hungry. Earlier I snapped at my internet because it was lagging. The stuttering stalled my food search. I wasn't sure what I wanted to eat, so I used Yelp's search map. I decided on Las Cazuelas because I knew the location and it is really close. As soon as I walked in, a man greeted me and told me to stop. I was kinda startled because I had no idea why he didn't want me to move. He approached me eagerly, with a big smile, asking me "to go?" I nodded and he gave me a laminated menu and gestured me to sit. He apologized for making me stop. It was because the floor was wet as it was recently mopped. He mimed a person falling as he was explaining it to me. As I looked over the menu, the first thing I noticed was the torta. I definitely wanted the al pastor torta. Since I was hungry and felt like splurging, I also ordered the taco carnitas taco platter. While I waiting for my food, the nice man, gave me a basket or fresh chips with side of hot sauce, pico de gallo, and salsa verde which tasted fresh and flavorful. I was ecstatic to have something to munch on while I waited. As soon as I finished mall the chips, which was about a little over 10 minutes, I got my food, shook the nice man's hand and left. I was extremely happy that I got the torta al pastor. I knew it was going to be good because as soon as I got into the car, the smell had me salivating the whole drive. As soon as I opened the container, I was in love.. it looked soo good. I took a bite and it tasted like a punch to the face. A punch I would gladly take because the flavors just danced inside my mouth. I can't really describe it because I basically inhaled it, not stopping to enjoy it. I also only ate half because i gave the other half to my broth, bad mistake. The torta came with a side of smoked chipotle mayo. The tacos were on point too. Who doesn't love chunks of pork with onions and cilantro on top of corn tortilla? I squeezed lime over it, drizzled some salsa verde on top, hugged my hand around the corn tortillas and took a bites until everything was gone. It was a tasty dinner. The pork had a nice crust, yet was moist. I will definitely come back again. Next time I will enjoy the meal instead of devouring it like a vulture on a carcass. I hope they do well. My wife and I liked everything about this place. From the moment we walked in, the owner was super friendly, attentive and took genuine pride in what he was offering. We started with tamalitos(2): one of rajas, the other of salsa verde with pork. As two people who both lived in Mexico DF, we can honestly say that both tamales were authentically delicious. We then had tacos al pastor and tacos de carnitas. Everything was well, prepared, abundant and tasty - and with a bottle of beer and a glass of wine, it was under $40. I am a HUGE Mexican fan, but more so a Tex-Mex, Baja fresh kinda girl. My boyfriend on the other hand, is more in to traditional Mexican food so we decided to give this place a try. Small, clean, nice decor & friendly staff. I had the Huaraches de Bistec and OMG. Delicious. Went to this place last Wednesday. The husband and I were looking for Mexican but when we got there I a two in one. Mexican and Italian. It was very confusing the sign said Mexican but the window said pizza etc. We proceeded and I ended up having the fruto de maire super expensive pasta more than carrabas I had tiny mussels two shrimp and totally not worth the $19 dollars. The husband asked for a stake and it was $19 dollars as well with potatoes and vegetables. The place charges very high but falls short on the food. The stake had no taste. We left to never go back. If you didn't know of this place you'd probably miss it. It is in a strip mall way off the main road just south of the Publix. The decor is very simple and no-nonsense, spacious and clean. The service was sufficient; just enough time to order, reasonable time to get food, good follow-up and clean-up. The menu is pretty extensive, I'd guess offering any type of Mexican dish. The portions are large and reasonably priced. The food is fresh, flavorful and cooked very well. We had the 3 taco plate of steak, pork and chorizo and the green tomatillo enchiladas. All had quality meats with lots of flavor without too much heat. They offer a basket of crispy and not greasy tortilla chips with a chunky vegetable salsa. There are 3 sauces offered to compliment your dish including 2 different types of red and green hot with a mild spice cream sauce. These were nice options to add some heat to the dishes. The margaritas were very fresh tasting of lime and a fair amount of alcohol. We noticed an equal amount patrons for pick-up orders during our stay and will consider this place for that as well. It is important to note, for context purposes that - I'm Salvadoran, born and raised - I spent 12 years in a Northern state, where there were no Salvadorans, so Mexicans were the only other brown people around, which created in me the illusion of unity with Mexicans, to the point of deluding myself into feeling that eating Mexican food was getting taste of home, allowing myself to be comforted by it as if it were Salvadoran food. - living in DC and Peru (where people do not know, much less serve Mexican food) for the few years prior to coming back to Miami, I built up a major aching for the cilantro-laden fare, which I naively thought would be easily satisfied upon arriving to Miami. On to my review. I looked for Mexican places in this here website, namely the yelps. Las Cazuelas was one of the options to try. After visiting two other restaurants classified in here as "Mexican" and being moderate-to-severely disappointed, my hopes were high for Las Cazuelas, in large part due to the encouraging reviews of some Mexican-looking folks. On this particular day I was having a huge craving for horchata. The restaurant is a bit out of the way, but when the craving calls, you drive anywhere to satisfy it. By the time I pull into the parking lot, my one-year-old is asleep. So I park somewhat near the entrance and decide to wait in the car for him to finish his nap. Who could wake up such cute papacito? The restaurant looks empty, except for a lone gentleman sitting outside. On account of the fatigue created by running around all day after Cipotito, I too doze off in my car. Some time later I'm awakened by the baby. The dude at the restaurant is staring at me. You'd almost think he's been looking at us the whole time. Heebee jeebees begin to accumulate, but an horchata beckons, so I grab Mr. Giggles and head for the eatery. The smile and greeting I get from this same man reveal to me that he has a financial stake in the upcoming transaction. Not a super important detail, but I'll tell you that there is some loud club-like music playing and this point, and Mr. Stakeholder is kinda jammin' to the beat. In my opinion he's a bit old for that. A guy with a Mexican accent greets me warmly inside. I inform him I'd like some take-out, he hands me a menu and invites me to sit while I choose. He assures me all the food is authentic. I place my order, and a few minutes later he comes back with a brown bag full of food, making mention that it's all in there including the horchata. I'm on my way. I drive 10 minutes through the streets of Kendall towards my gorgeous middle-class apartment wherein I greatly anticipate enjoying my taquitos and my horchata. But alas, when I get home and unpack everything it turns out there is no horchata. I'm stunned. All that trouble for nothing. I spent $18 to fulfill a craving, and I failed. I'm eating the food, and it's good. Maybe it's very good. But there's no horchata. I am tired, and now I'm also heartbroken. Should I go through the ordeal of buckling up my offspring and trekking out there for the horchata? Do I have that much gas in my car? Will I be back in time for Jeopardy!? This is too much to handle right now. Wait. Wait. I see here... It says they deliver. Would they? I'm too tired to hope, but I try anyway. I managed to hide my pain and called the place in the most calm version of myself possible, considering the circumstances. "I paid for an horchata, but it's not with my order," I said softly to the same kindly Mexican gentleman on the other end. "Oh no problem!" he replied. "Next time you come, just let us know and we won't charge you." Really? You won't charge me? How lucky for me. You won't charge me again for an horchata I already paid for and you failed to give me? How magnanimous of you, dear sir. I can hardly believe my luck. You should be nominated for a Nobel Fairness Prize, that's how blown-away I am with your solution. Next time? How do you know there will be a next time? A little presumptuous, are we? I trust this was an unusual situation. Except for this mishap, I kinda think las cazuelas is a good place to get your Azteco-Spaniard cuisine. Hence the three stars. There is no way that manager can know how important this little mistake was to me. I went to bed that night believing in humanity a little less, all over a rice and milk drink. I'm not coming back. If I could eat one type of food for the rest of my life it would be Mexican. And finally I feel like I located a true and authentic Mexican restaurant without having to drive all the way down to the Redlands Farmers Market and Homestead. The place is located in a strip mall tucked away in a back corner next to Curves. They just expanded to make the place bigger which is great because on a busy night you used to have to wait outside and they don't have a bar. We eat here often and have tried a variety of the dishes. My favorites remain the vuelve a la vida, the queso fundido, the mole poblano, and tacos de carnitas. The green chile sauce they serve you with chips when you arrive is to die for. I could drink a mug of it if it were available. Sometimes I take a container of it to go. On certain weekend nights they offer live music almost karaoke style. It is fun but sometimes a little loud given that the place is so small. The only negative I would say about this place is that they don't have a full liquor licence so the only "drinks" available are watered down margaritas and bottled beers. She even mentioned what parts of Mexico specialize in certain menu items. We ended up ordering 2 Huaraches (1 Chicken and 1 Carne Asada.) My mother and I loved them. You could taste the freshness. Both meats were seasoned very well and the Huarache masa reminded me a lot of a Salvadorian pupusa. Which I didn't mind. We also ordered 2 Horchatas. Went here for lunch today based on the Yelp reviews and was unfortunately steered in the wrong direction. I am confused by the good reviews that this restaurant had received. My husband and I started off with one of the queso dips for appetizer and the cheese was more like microwaved cheap mozzarella, very plasticky, hard chewy consistency and not dip-able or spreadable at all. For the mains I had the tacos carnitas and my husband had one if the enchiladas dishes. My tacos were the best out of the three things we ordered but nothing special at all. Just "meh" was my initial reaction. I tried a bite of my husbands enchiladas and they were not very good. We don't go out to eat often and wanted to have a nice treat but ended up regretting spending the $50 it cost for lunch. Very disappointing. We will stick to the good authentic Mexican places we usually go to in homestead. I debated whether or not to post this as I feel bad for the owners leaving a bad review. However, I wish I would have known and saved my money or gone elsewhere. A side note. If you bring your baby there is nowhere to change their diaper in the bathroom. I never noticed things like that before but as a new mother it becomes something you notice. My husband ended up having to go out to the car to change my daughters diaper as the waitress quickly pointed out that there was nowhere in the bathroom to do it. Also they give you plenty of delicious sauces to complement your food which I always enjoy. The only con is that the quesadillas were a little bit pricey considering its a simple dish. What a pleasant surprise! This small Mexican restaurant (a hidden gem among the many average/mediocre Mexican restaurants in Miami) is truly authentic in its cuisine!! But, be careful or you might just miss it. It is located in a small strip mall hidden between a pharmacy and a Baptist Hospital Care Center. We were pleasantly greeted and seated immediately upon entering. They brought us warmed chips and salsa - a fresh Pico de Gallo, along with three different dipping sauces - all good and slightly spicy. It seems as though it might be a family-owned restaurant, together with a friendly staff. There was also Mexican music playing, and depending on where you're seated, it might be just a tad bit loud. Saturday night dinner with my beautiful wife and parents turned out to be a nice event all around. Food: tasty and generous portions. Their sauces are homemade, and the main courses are flavorful, with fresh cilantro, onion, lime, and more. Atmosphere: the interior is small and crowded, but we sat outside after the surrounding stores closed. They add a bunch of folding tables outside on the sidewalk. I think a table cloth would have been appropriate, as the folding table they used was somewhat beat up. About 20 minutes into our visit, the live singers started. They had a sound system and placed a speaker outside. The singers were excellent, but with most places trying to create an environment these days, the music was much too loud. Mind you-- we were sitting OUTSIDE. If we had been INSIDE, the music would have been deafening. Conversations over our table were nearly impossible. Still, I will give the credit that the singers deserve: they were talented and friendly. Service: the staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. However, service was very slow. We waited nearly 10 minutes to get our initial waters and beers. Once they brought the chips and homemade salsas, they forgot about us for nearly 15 more minutes. I had to stand up, walk inside, and flag a guy down that wasn't even our server. He was happy to help and did so right away, but then we were forgotten about once again. I really don't want to be overly critical because everyone was so nice, but I'm telling you... the service was very very very slow. It also took over 30 minutes for us to get our main dishes. All in all, I'd be okay with giving it another try. However I'd make sure the live musicians were not performing and that I sat inside to get more attention from the servers. If they can work out those kinks, I think this will be a successful business. The great thing about this place is choices. They have Italian food (including pizza) and Mexican food. It's perfect for when you have a group that either can't decide or wants different things. The Mexican food is good, which is what I've mainly tried. But, I've heard from people that I've gone with that the Italian food and pizza are good as well.
