There is a side street that you can park up and along the way as well just be sure to leave any driveways open as trucks and other vendors gotta get in and park too/unload. Inside it is super spacious! We came in on a Sunday when the Cowboys were playing during the day and there must have been at least 50+ people inside watching on the large big screens and cheering the 'Boys on. Plenty of high table tops and plenty of seating for you to hang with you and your crew inside. Outside was a whole other world! There was corn hole, oversized Jenga blocks, and tables and shade. All of the seating and tables were super sturdy and brightly colored too! I love that I saw a lot of smaller kids running around, playing games, and overall enjoying the outside atmosphere. Lots of good gravel and grass to help pave your way to your seat or table of choice. When we were here there were at least 4 vendors selling food from hamburgers to BBQ. I really loved that we had several options for food and didn't have to go far. From what I understand from the family, who are regulars, there is always at least 1 vendor selling food on any given day or night. Drinks and service was amazing! The beer specials were especially nice for me and my wallet. I also loved that Brooster's has their own specialty cocktails or mixed drinks they promote on their colorful dry erase boards. We tried their Broosters Backyard Punch that was less than $3! It was delicious. Be sure to ask the nice friendly bartenders what they recommend and what is on special! They are reliable and legit recommendations too! Excited to come back thru in December for the next market and enjoy some more punch under the afternoon sun at Brooster's. Right off the bat, you get this very cool dive bar feel. And when you walk inside that vibe is definitely cemented. It is definitely one of those places you would want to go and hang out with your friends. Have a drink, maybe shoot a game of pool or just hang it out. On Friday and Saturday nights I guess it's ladies night, and from what I am told this place is usually packed with the fairer sex. So if you are single and in San Antonio this is the place you want to go mingle. I have a full bar so don't feel like you have to settle for just beer, I have heard their margaritas are top knotch, and they usually have a food truck outside in case you get a case of the munchies. Out back is a great seating area when weather permits, and they also have a stage and a live band playing on the weekends. Plus they have vendors out there so it almost has more of a country fair atmosphere. Bottom line? I will definitely be hanging out at this place whenever I am in the San Antonio area. Jefferson Market and Icehouse is run by a knowledgeable duo who have created several successful local bars, so expect impressive cocktail skills and attention to detail, but here they intentionally narrow their beverage offerings to avoid stocking dozens of obscure bottles. There is a well curated jukebox and TV's behind the bar for those seeking visual entertainment. Among their food selections you'll find delicious pork ribs, brisket, coleslaw, a potato salad I absolutely loved, and Frito Pie our friend said was the best she's ever had. I had been waiting with much anticipation to see what the new owners would do with this space. It used to be a neighborhood icehouse. I think it was also a gas station, before being converted into the Jefferson Bodega. At that capacity maybe you were in ten minutes top, which allowed for parking. Now parking spaces are few. I imagine you can park across the street and walk the short distance to get here. When we got here I became even more curious to see what was done with the space. Sometimes anticipation turns to unattainable expectations. Once inside I felt an uncomfortable or unwelcoming vibe. I wasn't sure if you seat yourself or if there is table service. I don't like walking blindly into a place. So we walked up to the bar to see how exactly you order. Firstly, the bartenders were not friendly at all. One was preoccupied, which was understandable. So we noticed another one on the other side and went there. When we got there he left. When he finally came back he had left his laptop near the counter. He looked at us and immediately pulled it away. The manner in which he did gave me the impression that we were going to steal it. That was not cool. So he said you order food and drinks at the counter. They do have paper and fancy menus on table tops. I will say I like what they did with the place. There are benches, tables put together that suggest a communal experience. The bar area is pretty spacious. There is a juke box where patrons can pay to have music played. Which explained the double dose of Peter Frampton. Again, I really like what they did with the place. The design, decor and layout is amazing. Why didn't I like it? Firstly it lacks any personality or a welcoming vibe. This is mainly due to a crisis in what it wants to be. On one hand it wants to be divey but upscale at the same time. Secondly the delivery in drinks was lacking. I ordered an IPA that should've been accompanied by a glass. Instead I had to ask for one. My partner ordered the Happy Hour priced Old Fashioned. Mind you it was a bargain at five dollars. However, I noticed when my partner took a sip it was spat out. I don't drink the spirits but curiosity got the best of me. So I tried it to see if it was in fact bad. It was one of the most disgusting drinks I've ever had. We also thought about eating here but the menu is extremely limited. For a place attached to higher upscale bar experiences the menu seems unimaginative. Frito pie? Again, there is a crisis in its identity. After my first drink and not really feeling this place we left. The service was not good. The menu is uninspired. But above all I felt extremely uncomfortable in here. Before I left I tried to remember the great Jefferson Bodega. It understood the assignment. It prided itself on being a bridge to the community.
