This was our first time coming.. We made reservations, our table was not ready for another 20 minutes after our arrival. We were on-time. Social distancing was not practice in this establishment, very packed, line out the door. Masks were not enforced. Some server's wore mask, NOT all did. Gloves were not worn by the server's. We have to say it was an experience, will we come again, no. Our bill was 500 for a party of 7. Menu barely has prices, so be prepared. The price wasn't the issue the food was the issue. Complimentary Appetizer: instead of the typical chips and salsa most places serve, this place serves a yummy fish ceviche (see photo) with a hot habanero side with a mountain of homemade tostadas! We ordered the calamari (see photo) and to my surprise it was served on a yummy crispy bowl made from cheese! This was probably the highlight of the whole meal. I couldn't stop talking about this cheese bowl...just WOW! Drinks: Served beautifully and not stingy on the liquor, just on point! I got the grande margarita and hubby got caguama michelada (see photo) Main course: Mostly a seafood menu selection, but with huge portions and three sides plus a breadstick! The portions are not only big, they are delicious and fresh! My hubby got the Huachinango whole fish, it was crisp and flaky. I got the stuffed fish with a seafood mix on top and cheese (see photo). This place is pricy!!!! So I've been here before and had their food but I honestly felt like I've had better. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, it's just not my favorite amongst this genre of restaurants. Nonetheless, I feel more willing to pay a good bit for food but their drinks, wow.... they are expensive and the prices are not always shown and unfortunately not always good. The place is somewhat big with nice decor and they have a battle of mariachi and corridos bands which makes for a loud environment. Many times we had absent waiters but the waitress we got that night, Brenda, she was a total sweetheart when she would swing by, good for recommendations. She was attentive in the beginning and once the rest of my party came she noticed it was 6 people and boom automatic gratuity was added so she stopped checking in on us . We waited 20 minutes after ordering for them to tell us they were out of oysters. We spent over $250 which was fine, but the lobster and shrimp were badly overcooked like rubber. I opened them and they were clearly over cooked and mushy. I spent almost 200.00 on the food and drinks afterall it was our anniversary and we chose to spend it here. I am so disappointed after reaching out to management through social media all they offered was an apology and a free drink. Completely subpar to what should have been offered. I hope they do the right thing for customers in the future. We are all in recession and if we are willing to spend our money here be willing to give a quality meal and acknowledge all patrons as equal. I explained to him again that I did not want the pasta and if he could please remove it from the tab only. We went back and forth for a while until he got frustrated and removed the pasta from the table. At that point I didn't want to be there anymore and I was ready to walk out and leave all the food on the table, or at least ask for a different server. He never brought us the silverware, but I no longer felt comfortable asking him for anything else, just the bill. As soon as we paid, we stayed there for a while to ask him for a to go cup, but he never returned to the table. I asked another waitress who was walking by for the to go cup. I pass this place all the time and saw good reviews here so finally decided to give it a try. No regrets. So glad we tried it. I ordered filet rellano (stuffed tilapia with crab, shrimp and octopus). My husband got huachinango al estillo (fried whole red snapper). Both of our orders come with fries, rice, salad. While waiting for dinner to arrive we got complimentary appetizer which consist of fish salad (cooked) that you eat with provided chips. Pretty good. Then dinner arrived. Phenomenal- even the rice!! The portion is humongous- very generous. We enjoyed everything. We also tried their tres leches cake for dessert, which was extremely light and moist. The server we had was excellent- she was very friendly and helpful and accommodating. I wish I got her name. Great server, great food, big portion, reasonable pricing, great experience. Ok first of all wtf. I am still reeling. I have been to several different seafood chains and ordering crab legs meant getting 2 clusters at best, in a bag with corn and potatoes. Not here. At Las Costas, I was served an entire family of crabs on a platter, swimming in some kind of delicious soup with onions, tomatoes, and cucumbers. This is not a dish meant for one person. I am never going anywhere else for crab legs again, I'd be a fool to do so. Anyways, now that that's off my chest! The interior is nice, the lighting is rather dim and ambient but I enjoy that sort of thing. There's a huge, square shaped bar off to the side you can sit at as well. They have a live mariachi band that played all night, and they move around the restaurant too. They're also very loud. At times I felt like I had to yell over the trumpet to make any sort of conversation. The music was bangin' though, you don't see many live Mariachi bands anymore. At least I don't, if you do please let me know! Their drink menu is eeeeextensive. A lot of them have a "large" option which pretty much means the same drink served in what looks like a fish bowl. It's fantastic but order too many and it will definitely hurt your wallet. Our server was fantastic! Although it was busy (I went on a Thursday night and stayed until close at 11pm) she checked in on us frequently and made sure we were always satisfied. If Spanish is your first language, you will feel more than at home here! So, all in all, I can't wait to come back.
