I am a local that lives across the street and I honestly come here at least once a week for taco tuesday. I love the food and you can't beat half priced tacos on tuesday. I love their hot sauce and guacamole (even if it is 7 bucks a pint). The only reason I would give it 4 stars and not 5 is because it can be a little pricey and the girls that work there are sooo sassy. They can give off the vibe like they hate their lives but just chat it up and say a joke and they will warm up to you. Okay, but not worth the wait. Literally. Went in for a simple bean and cheese burrito, which shouldn't take very long to make. The beans, cheese, and tortillas are ready to go... Spent almost 20 minutes in the store (not that busy), and they didn't look into preparing my burrito until I brought it up to them with the time stamp. In the meantime, various line cooks and preps were hanging out taking their sweet time. Once I asked about the burrito, it took the lady less than a minute to lazily and haphazardly put together a mediocre burrito. For almost $5.00 for a simple item and dealing with rude workers, it's just not worth it. I've been going to this place for over 10 years and the quality has gone down so much. As of late, I've just been ordering simple burritos, tamales, or quesadillas without their meat. But now it's best to just stay away completely from this place. We get take out from Las Golindrines every couple of weeks for so we can margaritas at home! The enchiladas are good, beans are the best ever and their chips are very authentic. Great food! I live right down the road from this place but I've only been a couple of times due to the fact that they don't have a salsa bar. Yes, I will actually drive 5 to 10 minutes out of my way to a place in San Juan Capistrano because they have salsa for their guests * Only gripe is that they are SO stingy with their salsa. When almost every Mexican joint in Southern CA offers a salsa bar, Las Golondrinas doesn't, they make you ask the busy cashiers to get you a side of salsa and then they only give you 2 per order, otherwise you can pay the $3+ to get a side of it. * Awesome Guac! * Don't forget to order a *BEAN, CHEESE AND SALSA burrito. so my brother and i hit this place up today after a great surf session at san-o. we were craving mexican so i yelped mexican restaurants in the area. we decided on this place after reading all the reviews. all in all, its ok. nothing like "OMG you have to try this place". It didnt stand out to me. Im sure all the locals like it...but again, it was just ok. It's not terribly expensive, but not on the cheap side. Cheap to me is a burrito filled with meat, guac, and all the trimmings (not watery bland beans) for under $4 which you can get at MY local mexican joint, Albertacos. the reviews for this place said GIANT burrito... We ordered a carne asada and chile verde burrito. It was bland, and definitely not GIANT. next time ill drive further up the 5 to mission viejo to hit up Albertacos or wait till i get home to have the one in Cypress. Went there a couple days ago, ordered two enchiladas and waited 15 minutes for my food(while people who came after us got their food) we took it home and was extremely disappointed. It was mediocre at best. The enchiladas were bland, the steak in them was basically all fat, and all I could taste was the red sauce. The only pro to this visit was that it was $10.00 for two people, definitely not worth waiting 15 minutes. If you want good reasonably priced Mexican food don't go here. read more

So disappointing. My Mexican fish taco was a fish stick with tarter sauce on it and a lemon wedge was buried inside. Thankfully I didn't have to eat that and moved on to my bland veggie taco; no onions, no cheese. My husbands chicken tacos consisted of nothing other then chicken in enchilada sauce. Super disappointing as their chips are our absolute favorite and we buy them on the regular at the grocery store. Do not ever use any type of card here! My card had fraud on it twice and my bank pin pointed it back to this place... So some shady stuff goes on with their card reader. Also a separate time my friend used her card here and the same thing happened to her. But other than the uneasy feeling of card fraud... the food is pretty amazing. The food is so-so and the service is no frills. We ordered the cheese enchiladas with beans and rice and the beans/rice portions were small. There was barely any cheese, 90% enchilada. I brought the plate back to the cashier and the guy argued with me rather than provide any customer service. He says "I see cheese on there, there is cheese. Las Golondrinas is a little mexican joint next to the Out of Africa Thrist Store just south of Costco. I love the Carne Asada and the Machaca burritos. The chips, salsa, and guac take the meal from a 10 to an 11 but are over-priced so I save them for special occasions. The food is cheap (as all mexican should be) with no burritos costing more than $5. The burritos aren't huge but they sure are great and if you are really hungry, I would recommend 2! (but don't tell my nutritionist fiancee) The service is great and you can watch the kitchen make your food right behind the counter. Maybe the only downfall to this place is you have to eat outside which is sometimes windy. I guess you could take it home but I can never wait that long.
