I've been here twice and the same server was genuinely friendly and pleasant. Wish I got her name to give her kudos. Their pancakes with fresh strawberries and whipped cream are fresh on my mind. Our table shared it and wished we ordered a second plate! Mt sister's and cousin's veggie omelettes were perfect and so were my sausage and eggs. We also shared the side country potatoes with huge chunks of potatoes perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Inside is cozy and inviting. The first time I came with my friend and had their country fried steak and waffle (not a combo, ordered separately). They have a nice outdoor seating area that's dog friendly.

Great food and amazing service. I've heard about California Al's and I finally had a chance to visit. Celebrated an early Mother's Day lunch and enjoyed the quiet outdoor patio. Definitely a must try!!

Was there with a friend and decided to try this cute little restaurant instead of one of the chains. Ordered the California burger and we were amazed with the first bite! It is obvious this is a real handmade all beef patty with amazing flavor. We can't wait to come back to try the breakfast and some of the other sandwiches.

Great place for breakfast. They have dining indoor and out on their patio area. It's a small restaurant but the food and service is big. We've been here a few times and the staff is always friendly and welcoming. During my last visit I had the bacon spinach scramble. It was delicious. I've tried their omelets as well. I would definitely recommend this place for breakfast when in this area.

Bad: Their "Kobe" burger was $29 or so and was a good portion size. The problem? Lacking any kind of flavor or seasoning. The beef was flavorless. The stroganoff was a good portion size but again it was severely lacking in the seasoning department. Good: Those who ordered the corn soup and the porcini mushroom ravioli enjoyed them. They especially enjoyed the sauce from the ravioli. The desserts overall were enjoyed by the table. The sticky toffee pudding, while not as rich as we are used to, was still relatively good; soft and moist enough. The dark chocolate oblong with mango passion fruit was enjoyed by everyone too. The interior remains unchanged; like a classy London gastropub. Service: communication is key. Where they dropped the ball was that we mentioned on the reservation that we were there for Father's Day and prime rib, which they do on Sundays. As you walk in you even see the sign for the prime rib special. We sat down and the server mentioned that there was no prime rib this weekend. I had even chatted with them on the reservation app and they made no mention of this. We could have gone somewhere else had we known in advanced. Our server was relatively nice too.

Ironically, we had just been talking about how great it would be if they offered a brunch menu, so it felt like perfect timing! We decided to give it a try and were seated right away. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and welcoming, which made for a great start to the meal. We couldn't decide what to order, so we ended up getting three dishes for the two of us--the fajita omelet, the Denver omelet, and the biscuits and gravy. We also ordered a spicy Bloody Mary, which was delicious. The standout? The biscuits and gravy. The first bite had my husband blurting out, "Oh f***... this is good!" Honestly, that pretty much summed it up. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. If you're looking for a great brunch spot in Lodi, this is definitely worth checking out. We were seated quickly and served waters right away. My husband ordered the fish and chips, while I went with the jalapeño chicken sandwich. The sandwich came with a grilled chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, pepper jack cheese, crispy fried onions, and jalapeño dressing on grilled ciabatta bread. I also upgraded my fries to their Bleu fries (topped with bleu cheese crumbles and bleu cheese dressing). The fries were definitely a highlight--served hot, crispy, and perfectly paired with the bleu cheese. My husband was really impressed with the fish and chips, which he hadn't tried here before. The fish was beer-battered and fried, served with fries and coleslaw. He especially liked the coleslaw, noting that it tasted fresh with great flavor and wasn't overly coated in mayo. Overall, we really enjoyed our meal and the experience. Looking forward to coming back again soon.

Trusting in Yelp reviews, we headed to Lodi's highly rated and popular Avenue Grill. Service was wonderful. Our server (blond lady with glasses) was friendly and chipper and had a very nice demeanor. I got the chicken fried steak with crispy potatoes. Good country gravy, seasoned potatoes, and chicken fried steak was delicious. Big portion, enough for leftovers. My husband got the steak & eggs. The steak was a little too dry and under seasoned to my husband's liking. He always orders medium-well, but it was more well. I did agree that it didn't have much flavor. But I had it the next day for leftovers and thought it was good mixed with my gravy and potatoes. So if you're looking for a good traditional breakfast diner, this is probably your spot. It's contemporary and the furnishings are quite comfortable. It's the type of place you can settle in and have a casual meal without feeling rushed. Prices are high yet the quality is excellent. For the first evening at the bar we settled into a high top table. You can sit at the bar, lounge type seating or outdoors on a pleasantly shaded patio. They had an expanded bar bites menu as the main restaurant is closed on Wednesdays... most of it quite enticing. We opted for cocktails to start and I chose a specialty Date Maple Old Fashioned. It was really good with a large ice ball to chill it. For bar bites we shared the pork belly sandwiches (small, delicious but messy to eat), the sausage skewers (amazing!) and crab cups (refreshingly light and easy to eat). After cocktails we had glasses of a light white wine, made with Santorini Greek grapes. For the next meal in the dining room the place was a buzz with activity but conversation was easy without a lot of excessive noise. It's intimate and the room is quite pleasant for a gourmet meal. We started with cocktails (same Old Fashioned) and shared the grilled Brussels Sprouts which were plentiful and ever so delicious. They were slightly over grilled for my taste yet it didn't distract from me enjoying them. We got bread which was a baguette with butter and the consistency perfect for a French style loaf. For my entree I debated between the scallops and the pork chop and went with the chop. I was quite pleased as the chop came in thick slices and drizzled with a tarragon mustard reduction sauce. It was amazing, tender, juicy and at 22oz I couldn't finish it all. It came with a tasty apple sauce and grilled seared cabbage. Absolutely delicious. Ed, celebrating a birthday, had steak which came with a huge bowl of mashed potatoes which I tasted. Oh my gosh, the creamiest potatoes ever! For dessert we shared the cheese plate, a really great way to end the meal, with glasses of a twany port. All of the cheeses from a brie to a hard cheese were top quality. Service both times was very attentive, professional yet personable. We were well cared for and everything went smoothly. It's expensive yet the experience and value is worth visiting.
