Place was pretty average. Nothing really stood out or made me want to come back. Also a long wait especially since we were the only people in there.

Bistec encebollado
Robert F.

Ordered the bistec encebollado. Rice was the kind you find at the bottom of the pot, very hard and crunchy. Beans were good but portion was small. Salad and small bit of avocado was stale. The steak didnt really have much taste to it. All in all the meal was pretty mediocre. Not to mention it took almost 25 minutes for my food to be served. Also they play extremely loud music, it's not one of those places for that.

La cena!

Great steak tacos. Everything was fresh and the wait was not too long. I also order the limonida and it was really good. It's a small little cozy spot so you can sit in. I wouldn't recommend it for large groups but a party of four will do just give. I will definitely be back to try the other tacos and nachos.

Enchilada Nacho

Very quick delivery and still pretty warm.Perfect amount for one person but would've like a little more flavor but overall good food

Plastic in Enchilada Burrito

Not great. Guacamole was subpar. My burrito had a piece of clear plastic in it. Chicken tacos were ok, bland. Not ordering here again.

Stepped in here for a quick lunch. Service was good. Food was good. A very simple open space. No fancy fan fare. Our waitress was nice too. And I had enough for a doggy bag! Nice

Veggie gorditas.

Great food, to be blunt. I'll elaborate, though. After a visit to the Bontanical Gardens, we craved a bit of Mexican after the lackluster "South of the Border" experiences as of late. When you dig far enough, you sometimes find a gem. We did this time, that's for sure. While the ambiance was clearly lacking any warmth or coziness, that's not why we were there. We were friggin' hungry! So, let's get to the food: They were accommodating in making our order vegetarian, which was appreciated. First, the flautas. Served with rice, three flour tortilla rolls stuffed with back beans and a mild cheese, and black beans on the side. The crispy, flaky tubes were topped with lettuce, chopped tomato, and a bit of crumbled Chihuahua cheese. Served hot and having a super crunch, these were more than enough to satisfy my partner, and he can be a tough nut. I had the gorditas. Obviously made moments before sending it out to our table, they were like arepas...only crispy kinda like a fried knish. I can't describe it otherwise except it was golden in color, perfectly fried, steaming hot, and stuffed to the max with black beans, cojita cheese, lettuce, tomato, and cilantro...drizzled (as if it needed it) with sour cream. I can't say enough that these were some of the best items I've ever eaten in a Mexican themed restaurant/cart/whatever. Filling and perfect, three were served in an order. If you go, and in urge you to do so, ask for the red and green hot sauce. The red one is spicy, but not over the top, while the green sauce is mild. Either one was a great compliment to the great, home-style cooking. I'm not done with the food yet, though, as I'm leaving the best for last. What is it? The guacamole. In all of my years of working in the food business, eating out, and considering the amount of guacamole I've ingested...trust me when I tell you that this was the best I've ever had. Yes, ever. Creamy, perfectly seasoned, chunky, with just the right amount of cilantro and lime...it was very rich and screamed "FRESH". Guac-heads, please take note. It wasn't made at our table, wasn't called something different, not made with organic this or that...it was simply fantastic. If you don't go for anything else, go for a plate of this green goodness. Service was polite and thorough. Prices were inexpensive. Atmosphere is utterly abysmal...but again, we weren't here for that. If your in this region and like good Mexican nummies...hit this joint.

Well, ordered some tacos and a chimichanga. Ate a taco and saved the rest for the next day. I cut in the chimichanga with a knife to half it and my knife hit some metal. Of course, I didn't want to believe it but I pulled out a metal probe. (See pic) When I called of course the owner does not speak English. Geez. The manager had little authority so their customer service is not on point although we received an apology. Had to move heaven and earth to receive a full refund from GrubHub. The food we did taste was good but we will never order from here again. They must have kids working in the kitchen or very careless adults. How could someone be in such a hurry not to notice a probe inside the food?

I definitely have a thing for their Vodka sauce too How's the food? The meatballs are so good.. Tender.. They fall apart which I like. Not big on huge, dense meatballs anyway.. These things taste amazing! You gotta try them.. The Chicken Parm with spaghetti in Vodka Sauce is one of my favorites dishes The chicken is nice and tender, sauce has a great flavor, cheese is nice and melted, pasta perfectly cooked and it's a pretty big portion! The Mozzarella Sticks are like no other! I'm telling you! They make them fresh on-site.. Not store bought frozen sticks where the cheese pops out the casing.. These things are the real deal.. The cheese is stringy, well melted.. And they're pretty big.. They don't skimp.. Good for like 2-3 people.. I can only eat one myself.. The Pizzas are pretty good too! I really enjoy the entry dishes but if I'm with a group, I'll get a pizza to share. They're pretty small anyway. My favorite dessert is the Conollis! They have a nice airy, light casing.. The ricotta filling is so flavorful and fluffy.. So on point The service staff is always welcoming, accommodating and super cool. Really good crew. The place itself is so chill. Layback atmosphere, some really cool music plays in the background, classic Hip Hop, Funk/Soul breaks and more.. historical art decor fills the walls and vibes are always right in the spot. Might even have some games on the TVs.. great spot altogether.. You can see the Pizza cook in their fire oven.. Pretty cool I think. So if you're looking for a really cool spot to munch at in the Bronx Kingsbridge Neighborhood, you should definitely check out Kingsbridge Social Club. It's a vibe! Have a good one yall! -Ray

I really wanted to like Bronx Public, but my experience ended up being pretty average…read more I ordered the plantain chips as an appetizer and the crispy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries for my main course. The chicken sandwich was juicy with the sweet potato fries were cooked perfectly with a crispy outside and soft center. The plantain chips were a little undercooked for my taste. They also came out at the same time as my sandwich, so they really weren't much of an appetizer. I also ordered an Old Fashioned. Since it's my favorite cocktail, I may be harder to please than most, but I'd only give it a 2 out of 5. It just didn't have the balance and flavor I was expecting. The atmosphere was probably the highlight of the visit. They have seven big TVs throughout the restaurant, making it a great place to watch sports. Unfortunately, the service details brought the experience down. I asked twice for no pickles on my sandwich, but it still came out with pickles. Thank goodness I'm not allergic to pickles, because that could have been a much more serious mistake. It's a simple request that should have been caught. Overall, there were some positives, especially the sandwich, fries, and sports atmosphere, but too many small mistakes added up. Between the appetizer arriving with the main course, the undercooked plantain chips, the disappointing Old Fashioned, and the missed special request, this visit didn't live up to my expectations.

Well, I had decided to go here for my birthday back in 2020 when The Pandemic had happened so, I ate outside, I never made it inside. When Covid happened a lot of changes because I had to scan the QR code on the back to get the menu because to limit contact between others. The service was spot on , they were attentive. Now the food and drinks I had was ice water. A Pina Colada I've never had, but was disappointed because they watered down, I didn't taste any alcohol. I just had cheeseburger and french fries , which I couldn't finished. I also a fish taco which I never had before and it was delicious and I knew that they used fresh grease because of how they looked. I would go back out here for two reasons to check out the inside and for those fish tacos.

The awning keeps you shaded from the sun while you enjoy the open air, which made for a really relaxed and enjoyable afternoon. Cold beer, great bar food, and a laid back vibe -- hard to beat. Following my recent review of their Cote de Boeuf, I took home the Roasted Chicken and the Home…read morePork Chop, the latter being new on the menu. I noticed other new items, such as the pork Ossobuco, which sounded better on paper, but Felix, who had taken over from Irma, stated the Pork Chop was better than the Ossobuco and accounts for my to go order. I still wonder about that decision, but the important thing is Home Bx is constantly evolving while the chefs in the kitchen remain constant and consistent. The roasted chicken is really good and verges on comfort food. It comes with a malanga truffle puree, which is a puree of the malanga tuber in the Caribbean and South America, resulting in a consistency of mashed potatoes, but has a nutty flavor that becomes very earthy with the butter, truffle oil and mushroom sauce, sparked with white wine and bits of bacon that has you thinking pancetta. The sauteed spinach accompanying this dish melds perfectly well with this dish. The chicken is the boneless breast and bone-in wing drumette, grilled in their kitchen. The skin is crispy and there is some char from the grill on certain parts, lending even greater favor and texture you will devour. The white meat of the breast absorbs the white wine, balanced with the butter and truffle oil and never has a hint of dryness. I am certain this dish would have been exceptional had I eaten it on premises. It will not have the impact of the Cote de Boeuf, but, at twenty seven bucks, this is probably the sleeper on the menu. Four stars. The Home Pork Chop is a single French cut chop, medium thickness, bone-in resembling a mini Tomahawk style frenched bone. It comes with a Marsala mustard sauce, which I could not determine if it was made with a dry red or white Marsala wine. It was served with an Oriental sweet potato mashed that did not do anything for this dish in my opinion. I would have to revisit this by eating it on premises, but this was the least impressive of the steak and chicken. Please take this review a little lightly, given I ate the chicken and pork chop at home. The pork chop benefits from being grilled as well, but did not have the impact other preparations have at Home Bx. If the Marsala mustard sauce had more bite to it, the Oriental sweet potato would have offered the contrast and juxtaposition for this dish to shine more. You'll enjoy eating the rest of the meat off that frenched pork chop bone. 3.8 stars. They work very hard at Home Bx to deliver on your plate for the benefit of your palate. Home Bx may be the only restaurant I have found that is receiving feedback and acting upon it and without anyone's prompts and Home Bx is independently evolving in their menu, preparation, and presentation. If there's any doubt, try their Lobster Mac and Cheese and get back to me or ask the folks nearby who ordered it.
