Of our three Mexican options, this is our favorite (although Los Amigos is a close second for me). I almost always get the pollo asado, which comes with beans, rice and guac. SO usually gets the steak fajitas and they're good about honoring his request that it not arrive scorched. I almost always get enough to get a to-go box for lunch the next day. We enjoy their chips and salsa (although it's a bit too cilantro forward fot the SO!). They serve Pepsi products and do a brisk margarita service when the college students are in town. One thing to know is that if there is a birthday celebration, they have some kind of rattle they use that's super loud, especially if you're not expecting it. We do our best to avoid that! Plenty of parking, friendly staff who are usually quite attentive if they're not super busy (tecommend avoiding Thurs-Sat if you prefer a quieter experience!). read more

Very good and so much better than the one next door. We were passing through and my husband has been to both of these. One was better than the other. This IS the better one. I had mole at both places. This mole is light brown and almost sweet. I would prefer it dark brown and sweet but never find it except one place in Des Moines IA. This was still very good. Guac had chunks of stuff in it the way I like it and the right amount of lime. Fried shrimp was just that. Tamale had great flavor but was a little dry. We will try this again. read more

Manager tried to rip us off on a large order. We ordered 5 meals and nachos. Doordash picked up the order. When the order arrived, one meal was missing. We called the restaurant and informed the manager. He refused to fill the missing order saying we had to call Doordash. Doordash should correct the order. He repeatedly refused to correct the order. One of the men then drove over to Las Palmas and told the manager we would file a theft by deception complaint if he did not fill the missing order for which he charged us. The manager then filled the order. A tremendous hassle just to rip us off for a few tacos. read more

I ordered the chimichanga and it tasted really good, but I wish it would have been bigger. My fiancé ordered a burrito and it was huge! Not a bad place to stop if you're wanting Mexican food! We ordered two large bags of chips with large Salsa to go, the price was $2.99 per bag. A week or so later we ordered the same now the 2 large bag of chips was $5.99 per bag so we paid $12 for chips that were unusable as they were virtually crushed and could not use them for Salsa. So we called down just recently to double check on the price of the large bag of chips and we got a third price of $9.99. We just want an explanation and to be able to enjoy authentic Salsa and chips at the price we first paid of $2.99 a bag or be told the current correct price with usable chips for our Salsa. read more

I've never been fond of Mexican food, but I wanted to try something new. I figured I'd just have a burger, but I decided to try the "Sante Fe Chicken." I was hooked. When you come in you're promptly greeted. The waitstaff follows up with warm nachos and salsa. Their drinks are very reasonably priced and their portions are huge. It takes me two days to finish the meal. For us, a family of four, walks out of their having only spent $25 bucks and we have lunch for the next day. Las Palmas is an excellent sit down restaurant. They provide hearty dishes with plentiful portion sizes. They have meal specials that change daily. Their margaritas are well priced at $1.99 for a regular and $3.50 for a medium. The only thing this restaurant is lacking is atmosphere. During the day, the windows let in enough sun to provide a friendly setting. However, at night the lighting leaves something to be desired. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in the area. My boyfriend and I come here probably once a week. My boyfriend is pretty picky and this is the only place he wants to go for Mexican food. Best Mexican food around hands down. My boyfriend and I eat here regularly and I absolutely love it. The food is always good and plentiful, the waitstaff is very friendly, and the prices are great. Also a bonus they have big portion sizes so I always have leftovers. I normally have the quesadilla grande with steak and my boyfriend has the beef enchiladas, we have never been disappointed. My wife and I have been patrons of Las Palmas ever since we moved to Mineral Point, Dodgeville, Wisconsin area 9 years ago. We have enjoyed the friendly atmosphere and generous portions, but have noticed a steady decline in the quality of food and service over the past 6 visits (2 years). Tonight's visit was a disappointment (again) as to service and food preperation. We were promptly seated near a noisy kitchen entrance with a basket of chips and flask of salsa. No menus were left by the seater. We finished the chips and salsa with a refresh of salsa. Still no menus. I had to ask for menus after being seated for 25 minutes. It was if they forgot about the us. Then after a half hour we finally were apporached to place an order of chicken fajitas for 2. We waited another 20 minutes before the food arrived. The chicken was very dry, way over cooked and even "crunched" when chewed. Taste was mediocre, more like distracted home cooked fare. The restaurant was not packed or busy for a Friday night. This is not the only time we ate and commented to each other that it was not good. For $30 (including 2 iced teas) it was a poor experience. Something had changed since we 1st started patronizing this establishment. We are sure it is not our taste buds that are at issue, since their "family competitor" up the street had a packed parking lot as we drove home....disappointed. Hope they fix what ever it is before they become a Mexican Bar instead of the quality place to go they use to be. read more
