Ignoring the B on the window, I went in with an open mind to what so many have raved about. They were slow for 12pm; 2 tables, total of 4 guests, one of the tables already done eating. You order at the counter and they bring you your food, (so make sure you add a tip when paying.) I heard the quesabirria tacos were good, so I got one of those, a surf and turf taco (ribeye and shrimp), and a side of rice of beans and asked to have it all on one plate. The food took 31 minutes to come out. That's the main reason for the 2 stars. The food was actually really good! Great beans. Rice was decent. Surf and turf taco was very flavorful, but it had some kind of weird seasoning on it that I couldn't put my finger on (not bad, just strange). The quesabirria taco didn't come with consomme, She brought some out when I asked for it, but it was mostly fat and I couldn't eat it. The taco was still good. Overall, ambiance was nice, quiet (one tv), food was good, the woman who took the order also seems to do everything else in the place (I know there were at least two other people there in the back). Humble setting but authentic food. We stopped for a late lunch after a trip through Joshua Tree National Park. All raved (and rolled out of there). Chicken in the tostada was juicy, tender and flavorful. Shells were not greasy for tostada or taquitos. Service was great although small shop so when a big group came in we ended up with an iced tea refill instead of a Diet Coke refill. Not fancy but pretty swell food. So I have been craving a small of the grid Mexican restaurant and seen this place while gassing up real quick across the street .... looked at what claimed to be their menu online and it was perfect .... cheap and the food I wanted. Was a little turned off when I seen they had a Sunday brunch buffet, but assumed I could still order off the menu and even not since it was a buffet I could try new things and it would be reasonably affordable since their menu was ..... the lady that was working was so sweet, wanted to keep chatting with her, food was pretty good and what was supposed to be a 2.95 margarita was strong as could. Ok, menu shows like 6-8.00 per meal ... so you would think on a high side 10-12.00 per person buffet ..... right? There is a reason there is no pricing .... buffet, which was running low and never refilled, and two margaritas over $50!!!!!!!!!! Stopped in for a quick bite with my sister not expecting a lot. My sister had the carnitas tacos and they were very flavorful.... Beans and rice were tasty as was my chili relleno. Ordered on postmates for a birthday lunch, was given a time for delivery.  More than a half hour later they cancelled my order because Las Palmas in 29 Palms wasn't accepting orders.   It's unfortunate they cannot refund the $63 as swiftly as they cancelled my order, now we're going to dish out money twice hoping something will get here in time.   If you cannot meet an online demand, take yourself off the app so customers aren't wasting their time and having to pay twice in the meantime! The food was pretty good. I had the chicken chimichanga and my partner had the chili Verde burrito. Portions are large, meat is tender, but it could have definitely had a bit more flavor and spice. We did love the salsa. It was very fresh and I could have just eaten a big bowl of it for my dinner. They are open! It's hard to find a restaurant open during COVID, but they have outdoor seating and we're pet friendly for us with our little Jack Russel Terrier. Finally, a decent Mexican meal to be had in the Hi-Desert! After foraging around the Edchadas menu in town for a decent meal, I was introduced to the little gem that is Las Palmas. Located directly next door to ROCKY's pizzaria, and across the street from 7-11 in town, you won't find it difficult to spot while traveling on Highway 62. With the ample parking outside the building and easy access to the restaurant, you'd better get there quick - as seating is very limited. As per my previous reviews - I started off with an extra large side of guacamole. While a bit pricey, it was TOTALLY worth it. The obviously fresh avocados were mixed with a delightful array of veggies and spices. EUREKA! My first meal here: Three chicken flautas topped with sour cream and guacamole with rice and beans. Upon first bite, you can really tell that they take pride in their food here. The approximately 8 inch long flautas had a crispy-yet-flaky outer shell, filled with a juicy mouth-watering chicken that was finally shredded and mixed with a jumble of cheeses. SUPERB! My lunch-date enjoyed an enormous chicken quesadilla that was also topped with sour cream and guacamole. As she devoured the entire meal, I can only imagine it was perfection! The only reason I did not rate this 5 stars was due to an average-at-best service from the waitresses. ***HERES A CURIOSITY*** Never, ever, ever, ever have I seen pitchers of Corona. After noticing this on the menu, a few of my buddies and I ordered a few pitchers. They tasted just like Corona, but to my knowledge - Corona has never been offered in pitchers. Can anyone testify for-or-against this? Needless to say - whether they are cracking bottles in the back and pouring them into pitchers, the food was outstanding, and the beer was cheap as well. We don't usually do Mexican buffets but we had a restaurant.com certificate and had to spend 30 bucks so we said what the hell. The Sunday buffet was $13.95 and I ordered a Negra Modelo and we were good to go. There were positive surprises like breaded fried shrimp w/cocktail sauce, salad, all the guacamole & good stuff you need. Buffet had cheese enchiladas, chicken enchiladas, chili rellano, chili Colorado, chili Verde, shrimp seafood dish, beans & rice. Quick (sort of) rundown on this place. The service is pretty good but this may be in part that the place doesn't get busy. Sometimes we're the only ones in the place but there are never more than two other tables seated. The chips are decent. Not from a bag as far as I can tell. The salsa is pretty darn good and they have a hotter version if you ask for it and even a good salsa verde also upon request. The menu is pretty typical Mexican restaurant. All your favorites are there plus a couple not so mainstream items. My co-worker regularly orders the Campechana and LOVES it. I'll take his word for it because fish is not really my bag. I've tried the Chile Verde (pork, green sauce) burrito and the Chile Colorado (beef, red sauce) burrito and both are good but I'm more of a Verde kind of guy. The refries are great and aren't canned which is more than I can say for a lot of Mexican food places but the rice leaves a little to be desired. A little dry and bland for my liking. Next visit I'm going for the Steak Tampequena The food is good and by far the best Mexican in 29 Stumps. There are three other places here to get Mexican but none are a choice. Two have a Drive-Thru and the other just isn't good. (food OR service) and Las Palmas is less expensive than all of them! Yeah if you give this place higher then 2 stars and your Mexican. Check yourself, a true Mexican would never let something like the food they served here fly. I'm sorry this place made miss home. We went with our roommate and got seated right away. After our waiter finally showed up it took almost 10 minutes to order beer. BEER. After that she seemed to snub us. She acted as if she didn't know english, like she couldn't understand us and we were stupid white people. Our food was ok, nothing to write home about. THEN...a family comes in and sits behind us. Our waiter suddenly knows perfect english. Asking about their children's schools, sports, their work, relatives and proceeds to stay there the remainder of our meal. We had to get up and ask for our check. She didn't seem happy to be interupted and when she brought our check went right back to talking. We couldn't read our ticket and finally went up to the kitchen to ask if someone could read it to us and ring us up. Have gone for take-out before and since, and that was MUCH better! read more

The meat was over seasoned, and cut into big chuncks. It did not even have cilantro or onion, which is what makes a taco!!!
