We ordered the super burrito, the chorizo breakfast plate, and the combination plate with the chile relleno and the guacamole taco. Overall, the food was just fine. However, our refried beans were burnt tasting, which wasn't great. The guacamole also had an excess amount of limes in it but the corn shell was fried and had a good taste to it. The chile relleno was generous in size, which is probably why they limit you to one per combination plate. But overall, we thought the food was pretty good, especially the chips and salsa, which was fresh. There is plenty of parking and this place has a diner-like feel to it with plenty of seating. But overall, the food was just fine and the service was a little bit on the slower side. read more

They have a breakfast menu that is served all day, so I had the chilaquiles. They were really good. I ordered rice and beans on the side and those were also very tasty. They put beans on the cheese. My boyfriend ordered the fajitas with shrimp, beef, and chicken. The shrimp was decent, not the best I've had but still tasty. The food took a little bit of time to be served but it seemed freshly made. They also serve chips and salsa. The salsa was not too spicy. Seating: plus size friendly. They have booths and tables. We've been eating here for a while. It's always been good but today service was awful. They took forever. We ordered the fajitas and the plate was so hot. All of the onions were burnt to black. We never got our check so we walked out to the front and told the waitress that everything was burnt he said I'll tell the cook. totally unacceptable to not give us a better meal or not have to pay for it. After trying a few other spots, La Casita Azul was the clear winner! I used their online waitlist, and though there were five parties ahead of me, the wait was short. Our server, Araceli, was incredibly attentive, and David also checked on us. When one item was out, Araceli quickly offered a great alternative. The service was friendly and professional, making the evening stress-free. The food was fantastic--the Molcajete was absolutely phenomenal, packed with flavor and perfectly cooked. The drinks were just as impressive, with refreshing margaritas and craft cocktails that paired perfectly with the meal. Upon our arrival in Joshua Tree, we were looking for a good place to eat. Casita Azul was a newer Mexican spot we were eager to try out. You get your first basket of chips (tasted quite stale) free, and then you have to pay an additional $1.50 for more chips and salsa. They do have plenty of options on the menu. Something for everyone (tacos, burritos, enchiladas, fajitas, quesadillas, etc) We tried the Chimichanga Grande and the Burrito A Comal. The carne asada was cooked very well and made for a good filling. The sides (rice and beans) were average. We did have a jalapeño margarita but didn't feel that they were anything special (over iced and lacked spice/flavor) it did not taste like a homemade margarita mix. The area has many Taco shops and restaurants to choose from, but you simply can't outdo fresh, cooked to order Mexican food at all. The service is excellent and you might find yourself waiting for the food, but it's certainly worth it. The locals seem to love it too, as you can see sudden lines forming for dinner on weekends. The chips and salsa are fresh and not at all greasy. I absolutely love the Machaca, Seafood Burrito, Avocado chicken salad and especially the beef Enchiladas, with an incredible mole sauce. My name is Marlen Rios, and I'm deeply disappointed by my recent visit to La Casita Azul. What was supposed to be an enjoyable meal turned into a distressing experience due to the discriminatory treatment I received from management. It's disheartening to feel singled out and mistreated, especially in an environment where we should all feel welcomed and valued. I went to use the bathroom before even going to the host to get seated, and to my surprise, the manager or Owner told me that I could not use the restroom if I was not going to consume any food. He didn't even let me explain myself and asked me to leave. I was going to dine in. I was waiting for my husband, but had to use the restroom first. I was not wearing the best outfit since I had just finished working. I have money to pay and have dined there before. I will never come back after this experience. From the moment I entered, I felt uncomfortable by the way I was treated. The owner (David) was noticeably dismissive, and when I attempted to address the issue, I was met with indifference and unprofessionalism. It became clear that the service I was receiving was influenced by factors unrelated to the quality of the food or the restaurant's reputation. I truly believe that no one should experience this kind of behavior when dining out, and it was disheartening to see such a lack of respect for basic customer service and equality. Businesses should create a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all their guests, and unfortunately, La Casita Azul missed the mark on both counts. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values respect and equality. There are plenty of places in town that prioritize customer care and treat everyone fairly. I ordered take out and was very disappointed at the rice and bean serving size. I ordered enchiladas with rice and beans. Enchiladas were awesome, but the rice and beans serving size was for a child about 5 years old. I work at an elementary school and I know child plate serving size. I had literally 5 forkfuls of rice. That's it. 4.5 spoonful's of beans. Not much. They use really expensive nice compartmentalized containers for take out. The two places for rice and beans are tiny. No food was allowed to touch. It seriously limits the amount of rice and beans that you get. Next time I order for pickup, I will order a sit down meal, then ask for go boxes and package it myself. I would end up with way more food. Meals are just to expensive these days to pay the same price as a sit down meal, and get shorted on the extras. I usually make two meals out of one, but not this time. read more
