A great find thanks to yelpers helpers! They serve vegan options-yay!. Had a delicious vegan chorizo taco and vegan burrito with cheese, and the most delicious sautéed veggies. Great salsa that came with complementary chips. Refill chips are additional. Cute decor inside, plenty of seating and upbeat music. Recommend for good Mexican food.

Asada Nachos
Ashley L.

Ordered the Asada nachos to go. The meat was not very good and was tough. However, the guacamole was so fresh and some of the best that I've had. The staff were very friendly and the food was made very quickly. Would not order the nachos again and the salsa was not quite right to me either.

Quesabirria

After spending the day in the park, decided to stop by for a quick bite. Queso birria was yummy and filling. Horchata and pineapple agua fresca were refreshing and delicious, perfect after spending the day in the dessert! Quick service, it was towards closing time but I thought overall the place could be cleaner.

Had lunch for the first time La Caguama. The food was bursting with flavor. Our server was on point--super friendly and kept the chips coming. Loved the no frills, laid-back, and colorful vibe (several vibrant murals inside). If you want delicious Mexican eats in Yucca, this is the spot.

Caldo de birria (birria soup, and in this case, beef), tender and delicious.
Ken L.

It's not easy to get good birria in Southern CA. And it's definitely not easy to find it in the high desert. That's what makes this especially fantastic. Shown is the Caldo de Birria (birria soup), a slow-cooked beef soup, in this case, served with tortillas and diced onions and cilantro and four slices of lime. Delicious, very tender, and good cuts of beef. The first time I had birria was from a noted chef of a restaurant from central Mexico. I was hooked, utterly hooked, and every other time I've had birria, I've hoped that it would be as good as that. While none have ever matched them, some have been super delicious. And I'm happy to say that La Caguama is one of them. And for it to be near my house is even better. The horchata came in an enormous mug that you could go scuba diving in. It was good, more of a sort of frothy, almost slushy version of horchata that I'm not used to, but was tasty nonetheless. And did I mention that it was H-U-G-E? Good friendly service, lots of large frescoes of Vicente Fernández and Frida Kahlo as well as those old Mexican stand-bys, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe (just kidding). Comfortable large space. Definitely recommended!

Extensive menu made choosing a challenge. Finally settled on the combo plate with shredded beef enchilada and chili relleno with rice and beans. Both were served piping hot with chips and salsa to start. Beers were available in 24 oz and 32 oz only. La Caguama is translated to loggerhead sea turtle or colloquially slang for the 32 oz beer which is shared in 8 oz glasses. Maria, our server was attentive without being a pest. They have outdoor, pet friendly seating but since Gidget was so well behaved, Maria bent the rules and accommodated us.

I knew the place woukd be good as soon as we entered and the ambiance was really well executed. The murals were so fun and I love the beer coolers stocked with micheladas and all big Mexican beers. Big menu selection from tacos to plates to breakfast. Delicious giant aguas frescas and owner operated We watched the restaurant being built when we had a home behind it a year or so ago and never made it in to try until now. We will be back !

Nicely decorated, but service was sub par: Had to ask for drink refills, etc. even though we were the only ones there.

Nice place, but mediocre food. Hard to pin down why, but everything was just a little off and didn't have that "pop" of flavor that really good Mexican food has. Inattentive service even though we were the only ones in there. My son had to get up and go ask for a drink refill and still the waiter never came by the table to ask about the rest of us.

Oysters on the half shell with shrimp ceviche on top
Mike S.

I've been wanting to try their oysters on the half shell. They did not disappoint! Had them with shrimp ceviche on top of them and they brought out a very spicy sauce as well because I asked for something very spicy. I think they made it just for me because I've never seen that sauce before there. The sauce looked like a mole sauce, very dark and quite tasty. Also squeezed all the limes on them and added tapatio sauce. I was hesitant to order these until now. During a previous visit the server assured me they are quite fresh and they get them daily and are quite popular. If you like oysters I highly recommend. Wifey got the birria quesadilla, and it too was delicious.

We really love coming here! The tacos are so freakin good. I love that they add pinto beans to the tacos. The chicken was delicious too. I don't know what kind of marinade it is for the chicken but it was so good and not dry at all. I love that they have keto options too. The service is always friendly, helpful and the place looks really cute inside as well. They have tv's with sports on them and they have lots of beer options! Definitely check them out if you're in the mood for some Mexican. One of the best spots in the area.

Good portions on the enchilada plate. Great cucumber drink with chia! Loved the added fiber

I ordered the three rolled tacos with rice and beans. Love the fresh guacamole, lettuce, tomato's & cotija cheese on top! Tacos were $3 each and 2 were a light meal.  If I was very hungry I'd want 3.  Carne asada was tender and I liked the flavor which had a hint of sweetness along with the beef flavor.  Flour tortillas were soft and I liked the mild flour flavor. Server was nice and efficient.

We decided to sit down for lunch, and they had some pretty good deals going on for their specialty enchiladas: only $9.99 for two enchiladas with beans and rice. Hell yeah, dude! You even get to choose red or green sauce and shredded beef or chicken. It was absolutely delicious. My daughter and I shared an enchilada off of the children's menu. I've gotta say, our waitress was pretty freaking cool. She was super understanding of the fact that my child was frustrated because she was hungry, and she was very patient with us--which I appreciate, especially having anxiety in public. The cute little shop has plenty of seating, including kid-friendly options like high chairs and boosters. It's very clean and smells amazing! The food was out fast, hot, and delicious. The staff was friendly, courteous, and kind. Even the customers, who seemed to be regulars, were very understanding of the fact that my 10-month-old "chose violence" today. Thank you for hosting our lunch and being an amazing part of Yucca Valley! Guys, if you need a fast Mexican spot, this is definitely it. Enchiladas on point, rice on point, and the beans taste like you went straight across the border and got them from someone's abuela. We came here one a Monday night and there were several tables occupied which is always a good sign…read more We grabbed one of the two remaining tables and while looking at the menu were given warm chips and homemade salsa which was really hard to stop eating, especially when you're hungry. Food wise, that turned out to be the highlight. Anyway, I ordered the El Guero Soecial: steak with cactus, and all the fixings. However when I ordered the steak "medium rare" I felt that it is at this point when the server should have told me that the steak is prepared in beef jerky-like strips, more appropriate for a fajita plate. But even for fajitas, they are served on the dry side, salty, with a texture more resembling leather than beef. It's not so bad when you combine it with the accompanying pico de gallo, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole, rice/beans and wrap it into a warm corn tortilla. No lime sightings anywhere for some reason. Now, the cactus: maybe if you're a fan of Okra or any other slimy textured veggie, you might like it, but I just can't bring myself to enjoy what I would describe as a green pepper that was trampled over by a garden snail. But try this desert delicacy and judge for yourself. Finally, do NOT order the chicken wings. I paid $15 for six small, burnt, overly salted wings. Not sure what I was thinking. Mexican restaurants aren't known for chicken wings after all, are they. Great ambience, maybe try the tacos and enchiladas next time. That's all...

Okay, being totally honest, this wasn't the absolute best food of our entire Joshua Tree-Palm…read moreSprings trip, but a close 2nd. BUT it was definitely the biggest, most positive surprise when it came to expectations vs. actual quality! We landed in Palm Springs late in the evening and were starving on our way out to Joshua Tree. After a quick Yelp search for something open past 7-8pm, this spot popped up. We pulled into a super quiet parking lot and found this tiny little place. Looking at it from the outside, we honestly figured it would just be a quick, forgettable pitstop. Boy, were we wrong. For starters, the place was relatively full for a Tuesday evening! We ordered the duck confit nachos, the kimchi bulgogi sandwich, and the pony wings. Wow! Granted, our expectations were unfairly low walking in, but this turned out to be probably our second-best meal of the entire week--and we ate out every single day! It absolutely crushed it in terms of exceeding expectations. It also helped that we happened to be there on a Wednesday, so all the wines were half-priced! Unfortunately, since we weren't familiar with the area, we didn't know exactly how much further we had to drive to our accommodations, so we couldn't imbibe more in such a welcoming environment. (Missed opportunity, but safety first!) Oh, and definitely save room for dessert--their pie with ice cream of the day was delicious too! If you are passing through, do not sleep on this place. I would definitely come back the next time I'm in the area!

We ordered 2 entrees and an app. Crispy chicken sandwich - the crispy coating slid off of the chicken thigh but still had some good flavor. The jalapeño ranch was expected to have somewhat of a kick but was more of a love tap. Imo, the crispy potato chips were a nice touch. Pretzel balls - excited for pretzels and cheese, the plate arrives at the table looking more like falafel than pretzels, they taseted burnt. The cheese they come with however, SPOT ON! My fiance had the Tiny Pony burger and stated the caramelized onions were top notch. Then she proceeded to scarf the burger down and say "it was alright"..... make it make sense. Overall, we will be visiting The Tiny Pony again in the future.
