After wrapping up a backpacking trip in nearby Joshua Tree National Park, a group of 11 of us stopped at Las Palmas in Yucca Valley for a well-earned meal. It was Easter Sunday, so I was impressed with how smoothly everything went despite our large group. Our server, Carlos, was fantastic. He was friendly, patient, and incredibly accommodating, even offering to split our check into several smaller bills without hesitation. That made things so much easier for our group, and was very much appreciated. I ordered a horchata and the asada burrito, which hit the spot after a couple of days on the trail. Around the table, friends ordered a variety of combo platters, including tacos and enchiladas, and everyone seemed happy with their meals. The food was satisfying, the portions were generous, and the service stood out. This place was a decent Mexican spot. I came here with my entire family on a weeknight and it was decently busy. The service was average and the food took a while to come out. The fajita meat was a bit dry, but the beans and rice helped with all the other sides like cheese and sour cream. A good and easy spot to come to with a big group. read more

Everything could improve. The food is so lackluster. The salsa has zero flavor, and they wanted to charge you $2.50 if you want another serving. Chips and salsa should be complimentary but it doesn't matter here. You won't even bother finishing the first serving because it just isn't good. Ordered the chicken avocado salad and I got a bed of soggy ice burg lettuce with a bitter avocado half and waterlogged tomato slices, and it was topped with bland chicken pieces-this was the special for $13.99. I liked the limey dressing but there wasn't enough of it. That was the only flavor on the plate. I will not be coming back. My bill was extraordinarily high and I feel stupid for trying this place. Came here on a Sunday around 11am on our way to Joshua Tree. They had live music which was incredible and added such a nice touch. I ordered the pollo asado torta and found it to be very delicious. They also have a kids menu, we ordered a quesadilla kids size (which was very tiny) but it comes with a side or rice and beans. We also ordered the steak which was quite good as well. We recently visited Las Palmas and was really looking forward to a good meal, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered the chicken tostada salad, and the avocado tasted old and off brownish color and I should have sent it back. The shell also had a stale flavor, like it had been fried days ago. My husband had the chile verde with beans and rice, and it seemed like very little care went into the preparation--it just wasn't enjoyable. Given our experience, I wouldn't recommend this place, and we won't be returning. After eating there, it wasn't surprising to see how empty it was during lunchtime. The food here was really good, it had very great flavor! The salsa was sooooo good! The service was excellent as well. Our server was very patient and helpful at suggesting drinks. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Good comfort Mexican food at reasonable prices, with friendly service. We were starving by the time we got into town, and we did a u-turn when we saw this place. We love our homey Mexican food and it delivered! It was well-worn but clean, and we were greeted warmly as we walked in. I started things off with a nice cold Michelada, which was huge (see my photo), and decided to get their Friday special, which was shrimp enchiladas with beans and rice. The hubby got the Vegetable Tostada, which came in a classic giant shell. Their complimentary chips and salsa were great, with light crispy chips and a decent heat to the salsa. We both thought the food was good and it really hit the spot. Service was friendly and efficient throughout. Their AC didn't extend beyond the dining room, however, so on the way to the bathroom I did get a blast of the desert heat, but overall a very nice visit. We will be back! read more

We were headed back home from Joshua Tree and were feeling Mexican so we stopped here. The parking lot is huge and I'd say the restaurant is big too. We had just missed the Sunday brunch and I was sad because it looked good too. It seems like it is a Buffett style with staple Mexican dishes and breakfast items. We were sat on the other side of the restaurant as they separate the two and we ordered very quickly. The food came out quick and the portions are huge. The chips and salsa were brought out first and the first batch is complimentary. The salsa was delicious and the horchata tasted great too. The burrito was good but I wouldn't say memorable by any means. I added a bunch of stuff to it for my own personal liking but ended up taking half home because it was so big. The kids taquitos plate was big for my daughter and I added guac and sour cream for her. My cousin got the torta and fries and she liked it and ate it all and the fries were very good. Good find but nothing we'd ever drive back out for. The service was fast but the server seemed so busy and wasn't too personable or friendly. My family and I have enjoyed the food, service and ambiance of Las Palmas Restaurant for many years. I have ordered so many different dishes and never had something that I didn't enjoy. Over time, my ability to enjoy spicy foods has changed. The good news here is that Las Palmas offers both spicy and mild dishes so people like me can still enjoy almost all of our favorite dishes. Very solid Mexican restaurant with a friendly staff, ample seating, an extensive menu, great Happy Hour specials, gigantic cocktail options (regular sizes too), and -- last but not least -- yummy food. Easy staples like quesabirria and quesadillas are good with plenty of meat. Plates are great and their sauces are tasty. Rice is just okay but the refried beans are SO good, probably the best around. Las Palmas is the slow jams you and your hyna used to roll to when you were just hijos. It's familiar, the staff is super kind and it's always a good time. The chips, which are what's up if you are true lover of California Mexican food, are crispy, thin and not oversalted. The house made salsas are dope and hit the spot. The margaritas are huge and dangerous. Make sure you phone a friend or get like a cab or (YO, YALL HAVE LYFT OR UBER? I hope this is the correct Las Palmas Restaurant - the one at 57154 29 Palms Hwy in Yucca Valley. My sisters and I TRIED to go here for lunch a couple of weeks ago. When we walked in, the guy seating people was on his personal cell phone chatting away. He saw us from a distance and motioned for us to go and find a seat. We sat at a booth and while he continued chatting away, he dropped off 3 meanus for us. That was the last of anyone we saw again. There were plenty of servers around the restaurant. Other people were being served, but no one came over. No one even looked over at our table. We think the guy who was talking on the phone never bothered to tell anyone that people were sitting at our booth. We waited exactly 10 minutes with no one acknowledging us before we just got up and walked out. Maybe the food is good but who knows?
