We moved around the corner from here and the area isn't scary to me and I'm from Boulder. :) I've been here a few times and here's what to expect and not expect coming here... so there are no surprises. A. If you expect to be catered to here, this isn't the place. B. Is helpful to know, or have a friend with you who knows Spanish. My wife has been raving about this place since she first discovered it. To her they have the best tacos ever and seeing as she's Mexican herself that's saying something! We finally got the opportunity to go and do not let the name fool you. They have fruit but there's so much more options! They have real meals with great portion size! I ordered tacos de queso because I'm trying to become a vegetarian, emphasis on trying. It came with an order of 3 tacos, rice and refried beans. The rice was on point. It's hard for me to find GOOD Mexican rice. With actual FLAVOR! This had it. It was also mixed with carrots for a little more crunch but I didn't mind it. The beans were very soft, might be too soft for some but that's just how I liked it, topped con queso. The tacos were stuffed! Lettuce, tomato, avocado and sour cream. The cheese was a little fried and so was the tortilla so you're really crunching down in this meal! The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I did order a side of esquite which is corn in a cup with cheese, mayo, limon y chile. The corn was extremely hard, dry, the mayo tasted sour as if it was sitting in this cup for hours. So I don't recommend it at all. But the rest of my food gets a thumbs up! read more

My friend and I came here today and we ordered an esquite, tostilocos, and trikidiablos. The tostiloxos were way too drowned in tapatio, the esquites were extremely watered down and the corn wasn't cooked thoroughly, and the trikidiablos were way too overloaded with tamarind syrup and Chile. Also saw that a family who had been here way longer than us still hasn't gotten their meals until my friend and I were about to leave and could hear them complain about how they were taking too long. Our customer service was bad also, they took my order and took like 15 minutes before they took my friends order. I love this place. Not only do they sell tacos for a $1 they have amazing chamangos. It is so so hard to find a good place to eat near my workplace and it is even harder to get a yummy CHAMANGO but this place is the spot! CHAMANGO (only comes in one size $4) is the perfect amount of sweet and spicy. There are mango bits at the top and mango flavored slushy at the bottom. Yummmm just get it! I always get the carne asada tacos because I'm basic but I'm sure the other meats will be good too. I got the super nachos ($6.75) once and they were HUGE I tried to share them with another person and we still couldn't finish it. There is a charge for card so it would be a little more convenient to bring cash. Parking is tight but there's always parking. The first time I tried chamango, a mango-chamoy smoothie, I loved it, but it was a bit too spicey for me. Especially at the bottom where all the chamoy and chile settled, I couldn't really enjoy it without choking on all the spice. So I started asking for no chamoy, but it was still too spicey because of the chile. After that, I tried asking for it without chile and finally struck the balance I was looking for. Employees are predominantly Spanish speaking and almost the entire menu is in Spanish or Spanglish, but if you speak English to the employees, they'll speak English back without batting an eye. Alright, these tacos are extremely amazing. I meant they're really good. I had 9, tacos are my guilty pleasure. I went around 2:00 pm and waited about 15 minutes because it was fairly crowded. Delicious! We usually go to the one in Downey but that place gets packed like a mofo. Thankfully we found this closer one through yelp. They have bomb tortas, especially the milanesa torta! I love that they use queso fresco cheese in their tortas. I also got the triki diablo and it was pretty good. I'm definitely going to order it again but on a hotter day. Coworkers have been coming here for to go orders and I liked the tacos so I went in on my own to eat in. Service was disorganized and not helpful bordering on rude. I'm pretty sure it's because I don't speak Spanish. When you're brown like me but don't speak Spanish and you tell them you don't they just think you're being disrespectful but in all honesty I never learned. I'm used to it though so whatever. Suprisingly she did just that and made this super juice mixture that had all sorts of fruit as well as beets, carrots, cactus, and even a hint of chile. It actually tasted really freakin awesome!!! And for just $4 for a decent sized cup?! I would've been easily charged over $10 in any other fresh juice shop. I had to wait between 20-30 mins for 3 drinks and an order of esquitte. Location does feel a little unsafe but nothing bad happen.
