Nice family run restaurant, friendly staff and good homemade food with many Greek recipes.

I'm dramatically lowering my star rating because though I've enjoyed the food immensely in each of my last three visits in the last three months, the service has been questionable, if not bizarre. On every visit I, or a member of my party, had to track down a server for some reason- water refills, missing order items, getting the check, which in and of itself is not good customer service. But in every case we discover the servers all huddled together talking, and no one seems to know anything about our server's whereabouts or be willing to help us solve the issue. And they all disperse from the waitstand to further demonstrate our request is not their problem. Message received. In every visit this left my party (all different people in each visit) befuddled, annoyed, and feeling unsure of what to do. Come on! These are basic functions of the job. Today I visited with my 87 yr-old mother who has mobility issues, and they wanted to seat us in the back of the restaurant. We passed dozens of empty tables on the trek, until someone in charge saw this obvious faux pas and planted us at the nearest table (moments before I did myself). Again, some application of thought would have made my mother feel more welcomed, less embarrassed, and given her less pain, to be frank. Because of these odd and careless happenings I will no longer hold the restaurant in high regard. I will dream of the delicious tuna and chicken salad, and probably even the French toast, but the employees don't seem interested in matching my enthusiasm for dining here. read more

Had to try to bump up the star rating here. This place makes you feel like a kid again. I order the chocolate chip pancakes every time. They are painfully good (and huge). The waitstaff has got it down to a science. They don't even judge you if you get french fries before 10am. The desserts always look amazing but I eat wayyy to much of my food to even consider them. There are two main reasons I am in the 76 dinner almost every weekend. 1. Its right near my apartment 2. Omelet with Sausage, Spinach and Feta cheese. The 76 is a large dinner where you can always find a seat, even on Sunday morning/afternoon when the parking lot is full of the "after church crowd". The menu has dinner basics with a few "Greek specialties", a Large assortment of specialty hamburgers (including a veggie one) but as I said before, I go for the the omelets. They are anything but cheep with the omelet fillings here. They will pack that sucker with a lot of whatever you ask for and if you go, ask them to cook the home fries with onions, otherwise its just fried potatoes and it can be a little disappointing. read more

It is a true diner, so if you're expecting to be wowed, you're looking in the wrong place. Every time I come here, I get friendly, excellent service and consistently decent food. I like diners and tend to have low expectations because of many bad experiences, but I've not had a single bad experience here. The staff (not just wait staff) is always welcoming and friendly, and the customers are courteous and not standoffish, but also not intrusive. It's a nice place to just relax and have a casual meal with friends or family. I would eat here more often if it were closer. read more

This seems like the place to see and be seen in the tri-city. I didn't get over this way last visit. I remember when it first opened and put an IHOP across the street out of business. A Greek diner is my idea of heaven. Who else can make liver and onions appetizing? Places like this keep me living in the 70's. One thing I have noticed when I come to this city is there is no shortage of good diners. If you're staying by the airport, skip the pathetic "breakfast bar" and hustle over here. Latham 76 is the best family restaurant hands down. Reading the negative reviews on here, I can only guess that the reviewer was just having a bad day or was lying. I've checked past reviews from people on here who frequently review restaurants and many times, they give bad reviews to almost everyone. It is in their nature to cause trouble. I'm wondering if they've even done business with this or any of the other restaurants that they review. The best thing anyone can do when choosing a restaurant is to read all or most of the reviews. For Latham 76, you will find that the majority of the time, they get 4 or 5 stars from customers. I am a frequent customer. The hostesses are very friendly and professional as well as the waitresses. The best waitress in my opinion goes by the nickname of "Turkey". She has been employed here for decades and she is the BEST. I recommend that anyone who likes a good meal (and they certainly give you a generous portion every time), make it a point to try Latham 76. Even on weekend mornings when they are super busy, they get people seated and waited on very quickly. Even back during Covid when everyone was short-staffed, they did an amazing job of taking care of their customers. Not too many places can claim this. read more

Stopped by on a road trip while looking for a quick bite and 76 did not disappoint. Great food made fast, reasonable prices, clean bathrooms, friendly staff, and generously flowing coffee! The manger, a slender older woman with a semi-nice figure and nasty look on her face, was a Nazi to her employees. You could tell they all hated and feared her. This woman was ordering people to clean counters if they even looked at her and I overheard her call my waitress a liar when my waitress claimed she already cleaned something. The manager more or less said, "no you didn't, now go do it." I can only guess she was the owner or related to the owner. I shouldn't really even pay attention or notice such things as they are irrelevant to my eating experience. Beyond the negative vibe passing between the manager and employees the food was pretty good and better than most diners in the Albany area. I would definitely return. My waitress was quick to take our orders and asked several times if things were OK and topped off my coffee when needed. Nothing stellar about the food but was good and the place was very clean and well ordered from what I could see. Great parking and location for a diner. read more

Great place! Was recommended to me by family that have lived in the area for years. On The Mark! Never closed and always good, clean, and friendly. We stopped in here on vacation since it was the most convenient diner to where we were headed. The service was ok, but not spectacular. I had a wrap and I was disappointed in it. It was missing something and was a bit dry. They were out of good kids flavors in jello. The kid enjoyed her food and the husband seemed to enjoy his food too. Overall, I wasn't impressed. Not much to say exactly. They have a good variety of substitutes for their breakfast items, which I found refreshing. I recently went to a diner in Albany that didn't allow me to substitute anything for the home fries. I told them I was willing to pay extra to sub, but it wasn't even an option. The grilled tomatoes were a nice alternative to the homefries. Coffee was tasty, service was quick, the food came out quickly and exactly as we had ordered it. Would definitely go back. read more

This used to be good. But at my last visit, the home fries were burnt, I never got any toast, the scrambled eggs were runny, the service was mediocre at best, and it simply was not a good diner or dine out experience. There are many better (and cheaper) diners in the area. Will be a while before I try this again if ever. read more

Went at 9:30pm and was told they couldn't seat us because they were closing soon. We were only looking for dessert so just picked a plain cheese cake and chocolate mousse cake out the case to go. The two slices came to almost $13, a bit much for the two small slices but we got them anyways. The quality was aweful! The cheesecake was gooey in the middle. Good service but one small disappointment with the food. Sunday morning for breakfast with my wife. We've been here many times before over the past 30 years, today we skipped eggs and omelets for waffles and French toast. Both the waffle and French toast were well prepared and tasty, but... The "Pancake Syrup" was disappointing. Corn syrup, water, sugar, and caramel color do not cut it in this world of fresh farm to table food. I never really cared for this place. The food is "ehhhh" and the prices are "WTF mate." That's really the best way I can describe it. The whole experience here is underwhelming and when you get the bill, you wonder just how in the hell they can justify the prices they're charging you. I know several friends who are in love with the 76 Diner and think that I'm out of my mind for not liking the place. Well, you know what? I think they're out of their minds for liking this place so much. And they smell weird too. It's OK, they're my friends, I can say that about them behind their backs. The bottom line is that in my opinion, the 76 Diner is not impressive at all, and is far from representative of a great diner experience. It's open 24-7 and located just below the Latham traffic circle. Breakfast here is particularly good; everything is well-executed, from pancakes, to waffles to omelets. The menu has a full range of dinner options and late night snacks. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good, but not overwhelming. Service is attentive and efficient. Comfort diner food, hit or miss service. I've been here quite a few times over the years, and don't recall ever leaving disappointed in my food selection. They have a huge menu, and I believe are open 24 hours. The restaurant itself is huge, so can accommodate a busy Sunday brunch rush. The service is whats spotty for me. Most of the time, it's decent, nothing overly impressive - but there are a few times that stand out as being awful. For example, if you dine here late night, be prepared to see bussers/servers that appear to be high or drunk, just not acting very professional. This past Saturday I dined here for brunch with a decent sized party of about 10 family members. We ordered breakfast/lunch and our server was a guy who looked like an older/drunker version of Colin Ferrell. He seemed fine at first, and our orders came out right, but he did not check up on us AT ALL after leaving our food at the table. Wife loves diners and we look for new ones all the time. This diner definitely disappointed the both of us. Prices on some items were fairly high. The food wasn't something I would ever go back there for. I ordered a Swiss and sausage omelet that had to be sent back because it had american cheese and was very runny. Upon receiving my omelette back the hash browns were awful. It had a seasoning that I really don't know what it was and the omelette just tasted terrible. This is one diner off the list. read more

I used to go to this place all the time in high school. It was expensive then and its expensive now. The breakfast was always decent and the appetizers and sandwiches are ok. This time I got a bowl of French Onion soup which I had remembered liking in the past. Now I don't know if my taste buds have gotten more refined or they were having an off day but this was the worst soup I've ever had out. The "broth" was so light it tasted like water. My Monte Cristo was full of meat but still on the bland side and not what I remembered. With tax and tip I ended up paying $20. Way too much for the quality of food. Our waitress was trying to being funny and friendly but just came off as really annoying. Unless you have no other options I suggest you avoid at all costs. read more

In the area again and decided to give this place one more chance. Had the Grilled chicken salad, fresh lettuce, the chicken was great, and the portion was just right. Beef Barley soup was good, not too much salt, finished it all. Kids pasta looked good, they finished it all. DO NOT GO TO THE 76 DINER UNLESS YOU ENJOY UNCONTROLLABLY VOMITING EVERY HOUR FOR 12 HOURS STRAIGHT. On New Years Day, my friends & I went to the 76 diner. The following day, we were all uncontrollably vomiting & 2 of us needed to go to urgent care (my one friend needed an IV because she was severely dehydrated) & we couldn't keep fluids down. Both doctors agreed that this was a case of food poisoning. This was the absolute worst case of food poisoning I've ever had in my entire life. I called the 76 diner the following day & spoke to a manager & explained what had happened & what foods we ate. He assured me that I would receive a call within the next day or two to check on us & see what may have happened, & figure out how to handle the situation (probably should have gotten a refund after giving us contaminated food...). I ordered to-go because due to Covid-19 you can't dine in, My whole meal cost $68.00 and change, I ordered Boston fish fry, The fish was soft and soggy, it should have been crispy, I also ordered Grilled Scallops, Grilled scallops are usually done with lemon and Butter, well to my surprise when i got it home and it was on toast, and to boot the inside of the Scallops was cold, I had to heat them in the Microwave, when i got them home the outside of the Scallops were warm, Inside was cold like it had been in the fridge, I also ordered a Chicken Salad Club and a Turkey sandwich for dinner We will see if theses fair better, This food was and is for me and the hubby. As others have mentioned, this diner has just OK food but high prices for what you get. A good indication is the fact that although it is located very close to us we ate there once three years ago and have not been back. We prefer to dive past the 76 to go to other diners. Friendly, helpful, and attentive staff, even at noon on a Saturday. My chicken wrap was delicious, and my boyfriend was pretty happy with his buffalo wrap. The sauces that came on the side were in generous-sized containers, which I appreciated. The onion rings were tasty, and I have no complaints about the french fries. I thought maybe some of the entrees seemed overpriced for diner food, and I was a little disappointed that the brunch menu didn't have Eggs Benedict (but I have a weird addiction to Hollandaise sauce). The parking lot is enormous. I'm fairly certain that it holds more than twice as many cars are there are tables. So, that's good. Oh! And they have fancy hand dryers in the bathroom. That was fun. As good as a diner gets! We came here late night after driving all night. Our waiter's name was Mike, but he could have been a stand in for Steve Buscemi. Sounded like him, and almost looked like him. One time during the meal, he ninja like snuck in a napkin to wipe up some tea I spilled to the left of my tea cup. Slick! The place was friendly, and the hostess was professional and courteous. My sis had a greek omelet, and with one forkful left, she found some blue paper in her cheese. Bummer, but at least it wasn't a hair. I was still really good. I had a minestrone soup which was hearty and good. I also ordered a cubano which I should have passed on, but it was good enough. It was deli ham though, and the pulled pork had some chunks of fat that I was able to separate anyways. This place probably had awesome pancakes, but didn't try. The fries were tasty, and so were the potato thingys. They have three types of hot sauce, A+ in my book. Looks like a local hangout for the nearby college kids? Not sure how close a school is here, but I'm sure the crowds can get obnoxious for the staff, but they seem capable enough to handle it 24/7. The ambiance is one of a kind!! Definitely not a place to go on a date, but if you want to take your grandparents for a quick bite then this is the place for you. This place has a little bit of everything which is the best part of diners. I got a combination omelet. Only complaint I had was that they put strips of bacon inside, instead of pieces.
